  1. It is such an awful click-bait website filled with the most awful ads. Every time I fool myself into clicking to it I feel like this: Which is so curious, because I've seen some of their YouTube videos which can be pretty good. I got my first few series 27 figures the other day. I ordered a full set in a pre-sale, so just want to get some duplicates. Managed to find two more pirate quartermasters, another cat lover, steampunk inventor, and a cupid to get a matching pair. No wolfpack, but I would like to get another couple if I can. Mostly for the wolves. Let's see if I find them!
  2. I saw it in a store display and it looks great. Not going to get it until a decent GWP comes along, but looking forward to it when I do.
  3. I like that a lot. Elegant!
  4. Missed the earlier discussions on this thread, and glad to have done, so I didn't get disappointed about midi scale! I hope they do it justice and that a Dutchman get released a year or two later.
  5. Honestly, I don't really like the Blue Brixx version. It looks too clunky around the saucer section - yes, I know, bricks aren't great for curves, but I don't think it works that well. Maybe in really like if looks better, and viewing it on a phone doesn't do it justice either. I hope that the larger scale LEGO has chosen will allow them to do better. It also makes you realize it will be pretty big There are some great midi scale Enterprises on Rebrickable that I think I prefer, as they can get the curves done better at that scale.
  6. I love the optimism of the New Year, but I'm saying it will be closer to Bilbo, Frodo, Sam, and Gandalf. We will all be up in arms about it. But if Rivendell has 15 and Barad Dur has 10, I find it hard to imagine LEGO giving us more figures in a set with a third or half the piece count. I hope I'm wrong! And I agree that it should be in the mid-teens for pretty much any scenario they choose to base it on, to bring the scene to life.
  7. Both of these, to be honest. Chief O'Brien and Q are both pretty integral to the universe, and both appear in the first episode of the TNG and continually appear across multiple seasons. Ha! I've just watched S3e01 of Picard and they have models of various Enterprises as trinkets. 'No one wants the fat one' says the bartender, to which Riker has to correct and say 'Galaxy class'. It very much amused me. But it probably is the ship that most people would be familiar with, maybe? Also, 1701 TOS might be a bit too thin in places for a stable LEGO model?
  8. I have just finished building 910037 Mushroom House, which is 964 pieces, and a higher proportion of them seem on the larger side compared to a standard LEGO set. This worries me, as it's not that large, and trying to make Bag End with double the piece count, suggests it might be pretty small. I hope this is wrong and they can make it have a decent presence.
  9. OMG! Is that the return of the CMF mouse!? I really hope so
  10. I really hope they choose one and do it really well. There are enough differences in the Enterprise models that you really need very different shaping and styling for them, and I don't want them to compromise one for the other. Part of me hopes for a midi scale Enterprise (of any kind) as they look so good and they've generally done well with Star Wars. But, just a few days ago, I found these great Enterprise D and E models on Rebrickable, and I don't know if LEGO could do significantly better. LEGO MOC USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) Midi Scale — Star Trek: The Next Generation/Picard by skyfox2k | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO LEGO MOC USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-E) Midi Scale — Star Trek: The Next Generation/First Contact/Insurrection/Nemesis by skyfox2k | Rebrickable - Build with LEGO So I'm probably more hoping they do a minifigure scale bridge. I suspect the midi scale ship is the way they'll go though, as it has the broadest appeal. And it would be neat to get 1701, D, E, maybe F, Voyager, and DS9, plus a Bird of Prey and Borg Cube. That could give them a nice few years of small release waves.
  11. I'm so excited for Star Trek. I really hope they do something good!
  12. To be honest, I hope they don't. There is an elegance in building with smaller piece counts, which is often lacking in the BDP. And you just know that everyone will pile in with extra pieces, meaning each round will have four $500 sets instead of four $250-$350 sets. If any of the designers were able to create a 2 in 1 set, where buying a second copy allowed you to build something else, that might be a nice gimmick for those that want larger builds, but I suspect Bricklink would say no.
  13. The standard service says check back in January for when it might open. Did any of the sources for the shut down give an actual date for it being reinstated? As in, is it likely to be January? There are some cool Star Trek Enterprise midi scale models on Rebrickable that I very much want to build, and trying to decide whether to do some Bricklink orders over the holidays, or just wait a little longer for PaB standard to resume.
  14. This looks like a pretty menacing space barge/station/mothership!
  15. I've just had an email about my Bricklink Designer Program Series 3 order, placed a few days before a Bricks & Pieces Standard order, saying that they're working on getting it ready. It won't ship for another three months, but at this stage, I wonder which will arrive first!
  16. I agree with the sentiment, although I do find it useful to know who has designed the sets as sometimes you can enjoy their building style. I really like the playfulness that Jamie Berard brings to sets, so if I know he's done a set, I can be confident that will be worked in. Mike Psiaki comes up with all the angles and novel ways to put things together that are a delight. But equally, as you say, take each set for its own merit. Anderson Ward Grubb's Boutique Hotel made me genuinely laugh out loud with delight at how some things connected together. I do think that in general, LEGO produces some of its best sets when the designers collaborate, and for most of my favourites from the last few years - including Galaxy Explorer - they have made a big deal about the team of lead designers, rather than a single lead.
  17. I love the photo of the gorillas! https://www.instagram.com/built.without.instructions/p/C_GETSKPZv8
  18. No, but that doesn't mean it's bad. I do wonder whether we've had a peak around 2022 in the current LEGO era. Galaxy Explorer followed by the new Renegade Lion Knight's Castle followed by Medieval Town Square Rivendell followed by Barad Dur Titanic followed by Endurance All of the newer sets are fine in their own right, but not as good as their predecessors in comparison. Another thing about those comparisons is, I think, all of the 2022-ish sets were designed by teams of people, but the newer ones by a single person, and maybe that collaboration helps? Also, Mike Psiaki was involved in all of the earlier ones, but not in the current sets? Yes, I think that's a good way of expressing it. it's a good 7+ action theme set. Maybe not as good as an 18+ Icons set. The increased use of yellow doesn't bother me though. I think it's proportional to the original enough. When you are doing things in the LEGO system and want to scale something up, going from one stud wide to two studs wide is as good as you can get. I think it looks balanced as-is, but I can see the argument from the other side too.
  19. The wonderful thing about yours is the transformation into a mech. That's truly brilliant.
  20. Unfortunately not. In the designer interview he said it was a different connection with the cruiser as it needs to deal with more weight. It's not far off though, so easy to alter to match?
  21. Designer interview with Tiago Catarino. He shows the alt builds. They're nice, but a little bit of a shame that it's not a transform function. The main cockpit and all the removable modules (except the rover) are still separated from the alt build, so can be used with it. No stickers, all prints. The side ships can have figures, if you move down the yellow triangles. It definitely looks better in the video than the original image. The walking feature of the alienator alt build is terrific though! At $100 it definitely feels like good value. It's a chunky set and I like the various play options. Fortunately, original impressions were not held up and it's better than it looked. I looked forward to some reviews and seeing it in-person.
  22. To be fair, it's a modern update of the original. It just doesn't feel anything special. I don't know what you'd do with it. There doesn't seem to be much room inside any of it. The buggy presumably fits in there somehow, and I wonder if it has a fun release mechanism. But first impressions are that it's a bigger version of the original without it being bigger for a reason. I hope more images and a video or two reveal more that we're mising.
  23. It didn't. I missed the Black Friday sale and waited until close to retirement to get it. Finally bought it realizing it was that or nothing.
  24. I got a similar email this morning for an order from June 15. I wonder if it's part of a system update and it's flushing through old orders as they do it. Hopefully that means things are progressing and they'll be able to get on the backlog soon.
