  1. The sheep is currently showing as $0.00 for me. Time to order 1000 of them! What's the real price?
  2. Thanks! I can't believe I missed searching for TBB's review. That helped a lot. Seems like some fun stuff in places, but a lot of plate stacking too. Van Gogh Starry Night was one of my least favourite builds because of all the plates, so I shall look elsewhere. Really appreciate the insight.
  3. Agreed. Now I think about it, if it was inside the up-scaled figure, then they would have shown that on the back of the box. So hopefully it's coming in another set soon.
  4. Too much to hope for a red space baby to appear inside the larger model somewhere?
  5. With the May 4th offers coming up, the 4x points on the 75367 Venator is tempting. Could anyone that has built it comment on the build experience? I don't really know the Venator at all, but I like the imposing nature of some of the UCS sets and they can often be great to put together. Is this a fun/satisfying/clever build, or is it just big? All the reviews tend to focus on the look of it, accuracy, and endless discussion about a minifigure, but only JANG mentioned the build experience as being 'OK'. Comments on build experience would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
  6. I can see the LOTR book nook going either route - Harry Potter book ends, or Sherlock Holmes book nook - as you can either do the Balrog on one side and Gandalf on the other of book ends, with the books being the bridge, or you could do it like Sherlock Holmes, where it folds out to show the bridge, although the book nook view would likely show the back of Gandalf. Still might look good though. Really looking forward to seeing how they do it.
  7. Looking at Brickset, I have, apparently, 54% of all the Dreamzzz sets. Although I bought all but two on clearance (Nightmare Shark Ship and Never Witch's Midnight Raven which were so good as to be worth full price to me). I do really like the style and creativity, but I'm also not a huge fan of mechs, so a bunch don't get considered that much. Given the seemingly continuous appearance of these sets in deals, I suspect plenty are still available to get.
  8. Let's not forget that The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was a trilogy in five parts, so it's possible for them to do anything they want.
  9. Six figures, and importantly, three new torsos (hopefully, at least) is great. Horses are available from Pick a Brick, albeit expensive, so it's possible to expand this nicely.
  10. 4. Not upset, just disappointed. I don't care massively for figures, but what we've had are generally nice and any in the future would likely be the same. My main disappointment would be missing out on some potentially amazing looking sets, with real presence and a terrific build.
  11. I still have the fell beast unopened and was/am tempted to sell it. Partly because the Nazgul were on Pick a Brick and I was able to get some, partly because it sells for a pretty crazy amount, partly because I prefer some of the MOCs on Rebrickable, and I could build several of those for the resale price of the GWP, but mostly because I still haven't built Barad-dur yet, and a load of other things too! But I agree with the sentiment.
  12. I don't think it will as difficult as earlier rounds. It's a great model, but it's expensive and these are not selling at crazily inflated prices anymore, so I'm confident that the scalpers will cool off on them and a sensible order will be assumed. I'm really looking forward to a bunch of these and excited to see more.
  13. Yes, but that goes back to my first point. I can get a full modular building for $230. Half of that is $115, but a half modular building would likely cost a lot more - $130-$150 you said. So it would feel overpriced. This is what has happened with The Shire set. And then you still have LEGO's problem that a customer willing to spend $230 on a single modular set will not necessarily buy a $130-$150 set and then also spend the remaining $80-$100 on more LEGO. LEGO are ultimately likely to lose out, so they have no incentive to do it. Instead they will introduce smaller price point sets like dioramas or the gardens or recent facade sets to capture people with smaller budgets. None of this is to say that half-baseplate buildings wouldn't be nice. I just don't see any upside for LEGO, so they won't do it. However, split baseplate full modulars are, and have been perfectly possible.
  14. The issue with the recent Shire set from Lord of the Rings is that in comparison with previous recent Lord of the Rings sets it feels very expensive. So it's not that it's about IP licensing or prints or new moulds, but that the smaller model is more expensive than you would expect it to be given the size, compared to other sets in the same line.
  15. Completely agree. And look at the reaction to The Shire in the Lord of the Rings series. Way less than half the pieces, but a lot more than half the price of previous sets. And from LEGO's perspective, I imagine a lot of people will buy a set, but not necessarily set a specific budget. If they charge $250 for a modular, they'll get $250. If they charge $150 for a smaller modular, people won't necessarily spend the remaining $100 on more LEGO. Split base plates like the Petshop and Bookshop seem to be the more sensible way to approach it from LEGO's perspective, while still providing variety in the buildings and styles. Even within 32x32 modulars they frequently do multiple buildings and styles.
  16. Barad-dur had a nanoscale exterior and a minifig scale interior, roughly. It worked because you didn't see them both together. Minas Tirith needs the nanoscale for most of the structure, but then minifigure scale on top, so it's all visible together, which would probably look extremely odd.
  17. Just recolour the splat piece in red.
  18. I've been an F1 for many years, and in some races, the most interesting thing is when a dog, bird, groundhog, or giant lizard runs across the track. They should definitely include new animals in the F1 sets!
  19. Someone has sketched out the Harry Potter 'book nook' and it's actually bookends, with one part showing the Hogwarts Express engine, and the other the back end of the train and Platform 9 3/4. It looks pretty shallow from the sketch, but quite wide. And each piece has a base, rear wall, one side wall, and a curve over the top, which might not cover the entire thing. I wonder if this means the LofR book nook will be the same, with the Balrog in one half and Gandalf in the other. It bodes well for the piece count going into the build, rather than the frame. And that the Balrog might be a decent size and not a relief in the back wall.
  20. Yes, that would make sense. But at the same time, it's a very clunky set name, and while LEGO is not a stranger to clunky names, it could be that the knights at this castle have horses and a stable, differentiating it from the Black Falcon's castle. And the actual set has a better name. Or it could be the horse knights, and it's all correct.
  21. It's always possible that whoever saw the image didn't know the difference between a horse and a griffon, and they are the same thing? Or that the picture quality was poor and they have assumed a horse, but it's actually a griffon. It would also make a lot of sense for new factions from the prize machine set to appear in other sets too, so maybe both will feature in the Creator castle?
  22. Completely agree. I don't think they will do it, but if they were considering a $1000 LotR set, they surely wouldn't release it until after they had data from doing the $1000 Death Star. Although I suppose it's probably going to be similar enough to the $850 AT-AT. I do think that Minas Tirith is pretty iconic though. After Bag End and Barad Dur?
  23. Yes, exactly this. There wasn't one fixed model in the movies for Rivendell either, so nothing could be 100% accurate. Rivendell doesn't rely on structure to define it, whereas Minas Tirith is very much iconic for it's structure. Having said that, I still think a model of the top, with the courtyard, white tree, and hall would make a great set and feel very Minas Tirith. I can also see how it would divide opinion.
  24. Ah yes, the famous yellowing city! It will be very interesting to see how the new Death Star is received. If that sells really well for $1000, it might embolden them, but until they have solid sales data on that, I can't see them pushing a $1000 set too much.
  25. The Brickheadz are part of the Brickheadz theme though, whereas the book nook is part of the Icons theme. But the really important thing to remember is that LEGO makes the rules, and then change the rules, and they're not really rules, and not even really guidelines, as they don't follow them anyway. Except when they do. But then they change them again. But do you know who does get into defining the rules and following them precisely? Us on Eurobricks!
