  1. I think the helmets, probe droid and whatever the May UCS is (R2-D2?) are the only ones coming between now and then.
  2. These are delightfully cute. The Falcon is my personal pick of the bunch, great example of less is more!
  3. Petranaki and Yavin IV are the main ones I can think of that haven't been made yet. Maybe a UCS Venator or Maz's castle on Takodana done in the same style as Mos Eisley? The rest are all remakes - I'd add the Endor bunker to the list.
  4. Certainly one of the most niche, Bugatti is probably the most premium but they're probably more widely-known than Koenigsegg. Having watched that video of the set my opinion on the Dodge has cooled somewhat. The Charger looks great from some angles, others really less so. I am coming around to the Ford rumour though. Having googled the Bronco R it looks a lot madder than a bog-standard SUV - I can only hope they do the off-road performance one that Google throws up. The GT will be interesting as it's the first car where we can make a direct comparison between 6- and 8-wide cars (albeit between race and road versions). One of the things I don't like about the older one is how narrow it is, this should sort that right out.
  5. No. LEGO didn't become the biggest (second biggest? I forget) toy manufacturer in the world by being vindictive on this kind of thing, mistakes happen and this is probably just that. No need to make mountains out of molehills.
  6. LEGO have been cracking down on leaks recently (or have at least been trying), so it wouldn't surprise me if their employees are under strict instructions. This seems to be from a third party retailer though, and even if it's a bit harder to control I do believe LEGO still have a no-nonsense policy. As for release date, Promobricks has always said June, which is consistent with other years and most other themes. Even so, it is odd that this was out there over two months early. There's probably a store manager somewhere in the world getting their ear chewed off right now!
  7. If its of interest, the May 4th GWP is sort of on Insta... To get around the label on the box saying "this product must not be globally displayed before launch", its a picture of the parts in their bags. That's one way of doing it, I guess... Doesn't show much though.
  8. Personally I think this looks pretty great, the purple was a great choice for the Charger. The stickers are giving me a twitch though. It looks like this was just found in a store (two months before release as well, what the heck?!), so hopefully pictures of the other sets won't be too far behind.
  9. Oh man. What worries me is that they haven't attached even a vague date to that (three months, six months, whatever), which suggests to me there's a lot of stuff to fix than they thought. As you say, glad that they're fixing it, but still. At this rate they'll have to release another holiday special to make blue milk Luke relevant again! I haven't bought a LEGO game on release for a long time, have any been delayed this badly before?
  10. Agreed, those three will look great on a shelf together. DS2 was an odd choice. I hope we get some of these for the PT at least, but I'm not holding my breath. Lots of people are clamouring for a Jedi Temple and I think this is the most likely place for it to pop up, although I'm sure some would be upset at a miniature one.
  11. Is it just me that thinks this is a stretch? There's loads of ships in the video games that were 'made of LEGO' but never saw sets; I'm not very familiar with the comics so I don't know if this is unusual in them, but I don't see why it would be any different. It could also be just a sketch - it sounds like the designers made one in that infamous interview. I'd happily be proved wrong, but it would feel odd to have LEGO employees go on the record explaining why we're not getting a TIE bomber only to release one less than a year later.
  12. Deeply skeptical. It hasn't shown up anywhere else, and there's no way LEGO would be doing dazzle camo like that. It looks on the big side as well, although the dragster is so different to what's come before it's hard to say on that one.
  13. I'm not sure they were clamouring for Jedi Bob until the Gunship vote happened, in fairness. Blue Milk Luke in isolation isn't the most interesting character they could've done (although personally I like it), but remember that this was supposed to be released at the same time as the Holiday Special, which is where he's from. If not for that special we might well have got a rebel friend, though it would probably be a main character variant to attract the 'casual' (for lack of a better word) fan.
  14. I'd even say to put similar things on UCS models. Perhaps not a whole stand, but some vegetation, techy bits or dust for the appropriate location would be a nice touch. Vader definitely looks a bit weird, like he's doing cute eyes or something. To be honest I've never seen a brick-built version that doesn't compromise somewhere, so it's a valiant attempt. It's unfortunate that it's being compared with IMO the best helmet and set of the year so far in the Scout Trooper, which has knocked it out of the park. Probe Droid also looks great. This is the first of the droid sets I'm seriously considering getting.
  15. I kind of agree with this. A lot of the other licensed CMF lines have been from themes where the characters are the main focus, and making enough sets to justify so many figs would be tricky: Disney, Looney Tunes, DC to an extent and even the Ninjago Movie. I feel like Star Wars has so much emphasis on the world around the characters as well as the characters themselves that a CMF wouldn't add much. Equally, I'm not sure how I'd feel if they did troops (212th trooper or Republic Commando, for instance). Not only would any fancy CMF stuff clash with the style in the sets, but amassing an army would not be the easiest thing. That said I don't care much for minifigures collecting anyway, so I'm probably not the target audience - I bet they would absolutely fly off the shelves anyway. The scalpers would have a field day though.
  16. I agree, DBG seems like an odd choice especially when every other probe droid LEGO has produced is black. Still looks neat though, excited to get some more pictures. EDIT just realised the UCS plaque has snow on the edges as well. That's a really cool touch.
  17. Not out of the question for sure, but I think most of the existing designs cover a broad range and usually get the idea across. Off the top of my head the last new rim design was for the F40 but I'll happily be corrected if that's wrong.
  18. For a long while people were saying it was just these two, but with the confusion over the FO stormtrooper I'm wondering if that might be a surprise third one. That would be a sensible choice, but given the Sith trooper was used loads for TROS marketing I'm holding out hope for that one if there is a third one. Any more reliable sources able to clear this up?
  19. Impossible to make out any detail on the Vader helmet, but from what can be seen through the blurriness it looks like they've nailed the Scout Trooper. Might be a day one buy.
  20. The Ice Planet 2002 snowspeeder is so perfect. Love it!
  21. Aw no, I was well excited for a Scout Trooper ah well, it's still a good look and it's good that they're branching out. Just need them to branch out into the good guys now...
  22. The other thing to consider with the 8-wide cars is that we've only had them for a year. The first round of 6-wide SC cars were very hit and miss (I'm mainly thinking of the P1 as a big blocky miss here), but they improved drastically over their lifetime, regardless of opinions on their wacky proportions. I'm sure subsequent waves of 8-wide cars will only improve looks wise, and they're getting a head-start in that department. It's possible it's Ferrari or F1-related, but I'd be very surprised if it was co-ordinated with the launch as it probably won't be this year's car (I know they're basically the same rules-wise, but still). I very much doubt F1 teams would be in a position to give LEGO references to work with months in advance - for summer 2021 releases LEGO must've been working from concepts by at least the end of autumn 2020, and even the teams themselves don't know what the car will look like at that point.
  23. I wish, I was going to be boring and bring out the grey bricks and tanks story! That A-wing is superb as well. Looking at the model itself I would never guess it was made from a 1986 palette!
  24. Great concept. Honestly I was preparing to write a 'well, actually' sort of post when I saw the title - consider me pleasantly surprised! The TIE is probably my pick of the bunch. I love the OP's box art as well, perfect composition make it feel very 80s!
  25. "swiftly terminated"? Man, LEGO really don't mess around with rulebreakers do they! Absolutely they'd inventory it all - a good inventory of everything (including prototypes) is key to reducing inefficiency, and LEGO doesn't strike me as an inefficient company. I agree with @1974 on the IP front as well; I'd assume if LEGO's machines were used to make a Darth Vader off the back of which someone then profits, it'll be LEGO's head on the chopping block, regardless of who's making the money (as it probably won't be LEGO and certainly won't be Lucasfilm). Worse, it would represent a breakdown of trust with one of their most valuable partners. That said, it doesn't sound like LEGO is chasing down these 'genuine' listings on eBay or otherwise; I guess since they wouldn't be sold by LEGO and as such don't represent a lost profit, it's not worth spending money to stop people doing it. All it really does is make a nuisance for hardcore collectors - it's not like the LEGO brand is being brought into disrepute here. And it gives us nerds with spare time something to speculate on and discuss on internet forums.
