LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
TeddytheSpoon replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
If it's the same accounts posting stuff, I believe there's an option to stop them coming up on that hashtag (or you can block them, which will have the same effect). Among others there was someone who used to (and might still) post a bunch of League of Legends clips on the hashtag, they don't show up in my feed any more after I either blocked them or stopped them showing up. -

It you see them as the same, that's on you, as LEGO clearly markets them as display pieces and not toys, unlike the system sets. By the same logic should we expect LSW to start following the design principles of Duplo, or Dots, or Vidiyo, purely as they're all from the same company? If you don't like the gunship, that's fine. But implying it's somehow TLG being out of touch with their customer base or a betrayal of their standards is a bit far. You joke but I do genuinely know someone who owns a 500 Abarth and makes this argument all the time. -

Well, he is a fan at the end of the day, and pretty well-respected in the community, so I can understand it. Equally, some of LEGO's reveals haven't exactly been flawless either what with low-quality cameras and dodgy streams -
General Star Wars Discussion and Questions

Pretty much any rebel ships, I guess - X-wings, Y-wings, blockade runners, snowspeeders, anything with weathering basically. Could work on the Ghost and either of the Phantoms as well, or the Falcon in Kessel Run trim. -

Probably on a coffee table (which also needs to be bought at some point...). I've seen people display UCS Falcons in custom display-cases-cum-coffee-tables, and I'm wondering if it's feasible to do the same with this behemoth. -

I'm of the same opinion... On the whole people seem to be positive about the set on here, notwithstanding the *ahem* discussions on semantics, and as far as I've seen comments on places like Brickset or TBB seem to agree. I haven't looked at Insta or elsewhere comments because frankly I'd rather not do that to myself, but I can only assume it's the usual vocal minority being especially vocal, because they need something to complain about on the internet. Not sure I agree with most of these, but on this one... Why do people keep phrasing it like 'TLG ignored the fan figure votes'? Unless I've missed something we have no idea what the results of that looked like besides anecdotal evidence, so for all we know Mace Windu and a clone commander may well have been the most requested figures. For me the only real thing to get upset/concerned over is the way the designer press release has been handled. Hans is clearly no schmuck as he's designed two amazing looking UCS sets, among other things, but this isn't the first time a LSW designer interview has raised eyebrows. I appreciate the honesty (support the things you love and all that), but it does feel like they could at least spin it a liiiittle bit more optimistically. -

I was under the impression it was only the review copies that had those, and that the first production run would have the correct logos? Would certainly make an interesting collectors' item though, a bit like the Finch Dallow situation in the Resistance Bomber a few years back. -

Was Home One a fan vote? I love that set. How expensive do we think the Nebbie or bomber would have been, had they been made? I could see the bomber being around the $200 mark (maybe $250, since the TIE fighter was $200 and I presume it would be roughly the same scale), but I think the Nebulon could quite easily have been $350 as well. Most other UCS capital ships we've seen have been on the pricey side. I'm not going to expect for another two or three months. That Poe figure, though... The TFA version of him seems to be everywhere. -

I'm not sure this opinion is against the grain, you know. It seems to me that people are pretty positive about it, even if there are things to nitpick about. It will be interesting to see how it sells for sure, but I can see its sheer size giving it a bit of a USP that the previous prequel sets (all, like, three of them) haven't really had. It being barren is pretty accurate in fairness, although the cockpit could do with being a bit more detailed. I mentioned the pod racers in the wishlist thread as well - gimme Ani and Sebulba's pod at a massive scale for like $300-$350 and I'm sold. -
Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
TeddytheSpoon replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I could talk for England about UCS sets I'd want made, but here's a brief non-OT wishlist with some MBS thrown in for good measure. Tried to be semi-realistic but I might have got carried away in some areas. TPM: Radiant VII, N-1 starfighter, Royal Starship, Sith Infiltrator, pretty much any podracer (a two-pack of Anakin's and Sebulba's would be mega, even if it was like $300). MBS: Theed (or maybe Otoh Gunga, but not sure that could be made interesting enough). AotC: Royal Starship (the other one), Dooku's starship, Zam's airspeeder, Aethersprite starfighter but with this time with a hyperdrive ring. MBS: Petranaki arena. RotS: ARC-170, Venator, Eta-2 starfighter, AT-RT, Invisible Hand. MBS: Kashyykk (not dissimilar to the Ewok village from a few years back). TFA: Black One, Quadjumper (partly for the meme, partly as I do actually quite like that ship). MBS: Maz's castle. (This has been at the top of my MBS wishlist for a hot minute.) TLJ: Resistance bomber, Kylo's TIE Silencer. MBS: ... Crait, I guess? Or that casino planet? TRoS: Rey's sea skiff, Night Buzzard, Ochi's ship (long shot that one). MBS: frankly, no idea. RO: U-wing (of course), Zeta-class freighter, Krennic's shuttle. MBS: Jedha or Scarif would be cool, but it has to be the Masasi temple. Others: Razor Crest, the Ghost, Dryden Vos' yacht. -

He did make a bit of a mountain out of that particular molehill, but to be fair he was right. This is the one for me, of the two main protagonists I always preferred Obi-Wan over Anakin, and by extension the 212th over the 501st. I think the clamour in some parts of the community is just so they can have something to shout about. -

Yep, still looks gorgeous. Interesting that they've moved back to full-colour arms for the clone trooper; does that mean the white arms on the 501st troopers could be a one-off? -

Regarding figures, I'm assuming the reason Mace and a commander were included is to make the set more accessible to the more casual fans - the people who voted for it aren't the only target market for this, after all. Having Mace Windu in the set might jog people's memory and give them an association with Mace's big moment in AOTC, more so than two pilots would have done. I don't think it's unreasonable to have expected it to be around the $200 mark, since as you say that's sort of what the precedent was. But it was always explicitly stated that it would be a UCS set, and the only UCS set at 'true' minifigure scale at that price point was the Slave I (which incidentally is also the only UCS set to include more than two figures and be $200 or less). So people can be disappointed, but they shouldn't be surprised. -

Oh, it's beautiful. It's also hee-uge. I'm impressed that the main hold is so empty - I seem to recall the system ones being pretty full of support structure. I can't wait. Will be ordering that for sure. -

Not seen by us mere mortals - everyone's favourite polarising LEGO YouTuber claimed the Imperial logo was on the box, but a few others have confirmed it's the Republic logo. Apparently 30,000 people voted for the gunship in the vote. That is not an insignificant number, but it'd be interesting to see how that compares to the Nebulon and TIE Bomber votes. -

Ooh nice, I must have missed that. That's very cool, I can't even remember seeing that on screen in Star Wars (although I'm sure it has happened). To be fair, that might not be something the more casual fans making a big deal about it on Twitter would know... -

I seem to remember the August one being an Ideas-related sailing boat, but don't quote me on that. If there is a gunship-related one I guess we'll find out tomorrow. It's hard to tell from the silhouette, but it seems like the solution to the oft-debated bubble turrets might have been to get rid of them... -

You have money in college?! I was completely skint I wonder if he means the Republic crest. It's pretty similar to the Imperial logo, and if it's only a blurry pic then they could easily get confused for one another. It did cross my mind that the orange would be related to a minifigure, but I can't imagine people getting their mard on if orange was swapped out on the yellow clone (which is a commander if memory serves me correctly). Then again... Kind of - it was a system set depicting miniature scenes from Mata Nui. In all honesty it didn't look especially spectacular to me. -

This is a valid point, and I think the gunship could be a good litmus test for this. Assuming that kids were between 8 and 13 when the first season of TCW came out, that would put them between 21 and 26 today, which is about the time when people start to have some income to spend on these things (I fall squarely into this bracket, and I imagine a few others do here as well). Arguably the better test would be to have something around the $200 mark, but I guess beggars can't be choosers. There's also a bit of a blurred line between prequel and TCW preferences. I definitely lean more toward the prequel era as a whole, but whenever we discuss this prequels vs OT question I feel like it mainly concerns more CIS/Grand Army sets (that certainly seems to be what certain vocal minorities on the internet want, in any case). -

I love how versatile this bingo card is - doesn't take many changes to make it suit any big LEGO reveal. I, for one, am extremely excited they've gone with a Geonosian camo paint job à la 75089. In all seriousness I'll be pleasantly surprised if it does get revealed soon, I wasn't expecting it until the end of summer. I guess I need to make space for it sooner rather than later... -
Oh yeah, whoops... In my defence it is very small on the picture! +1 on the built front, it'd be awesome to see something like the battle of Scarif with a bunch of these ships about. On that note... Perhaps the Scarif shield gate to add to the collection? I realise it's not a ship strictly speaking, but still...

I seem to remember this was a Walmart exclusive? Not sure how that would work in Europe though, unless it's an Amazon exclusive (although it does seem kinda small for that). It comes out a month later than the rest so I would assume so. It looks like a neat set. Not for me, but it looks like good value. -
Prisma have a bunch of sets on a 25%-ish discount and I nearly picked up another TIE fighter, but went for Trouble on Tatooine for 20EUR instead. Not a bad deal for my first Mando and Grogu, as well as another Tusken raider to add to my growing collection.
