I totally missed this topic, until now! Wow, thanks guys, for the kind words! I really appreciate it. I'll do my best to keep this a great forum for everyone (with your help obviously) and try to have regular contests and theme months etc. And I will make sure not to ban anyone making compliments in this topic

Okay guys, thanks for the suggestion. I will do that! Now I will be closing the entry topic...again

[REVIEW] 42023 - Construction Crew
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Philo pointed out to me that the hires version of the Part images aren't linked properly. I will fix this asap. Thanks Philo. -
My idea was to use the entry thread for voting, because I thought this might be easier for all of us. But I also do like Seasider's suggestion and since I was about to make an overview of all entries anyway......I think that might be a good idea. Having more images per entry, means more clutter So let me make a separate voting thread which clearly states the voting rules and gives an overview of all entries.

Understood and no problem. Thanks for the clarification. I do have some unopened smaller sets, so I will start with them

Ahh okay. And why can't I use my two reviews for the Academy? They have been published yesterday I see your comment in the other topic

Okay guys, I have unlocked the topic for today! If you already posted a WIP topic and for some reason you haven't posted it in the entry topic....do this TODAY! If some of you know that certain entries are missing, please post in that member's topic to wake 'm up! Or send a PM.
-
Ahh of course. You were one of the first to post a WIP topic Not sure what to do with this. You should have made sure that the pictures were on a computer instead of your phone. But most of the time I am more of a Yes-man than a No-man, so if there are no objections I can open the entry topic till tomorrow morning, so everyone can still post there entry. I do have a feeling that some other entries are missing as well. Let's wait and see what other members think of this.

[REVIEW] 42023 - Construction Crew

I think the wheels on the 8453 are a bit too small, compared to reel front loaders. -
Hi, Since I have already done two published reviews, this might be a bit of a strange situation, but I would like to be in the RA and/or earn those medals as well

[REVIEW] 42023 - Construction Crew
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks. It's not a professional setup, just a bit more than average. I was lucky to get the lights at a reasonable price and they do work very well, even at night. -
[REVIEW] 42024 - Container Truck

Glad you like it! The "lag" is partially because of the connection to the website and performance of the browser. The 42 images take up 16MB. I can double the images, but that will obviously use 32MB. And sometimes the browser doesn't keep up with the animation, so increasing the number of images won't help. I was thinking of making it downloadable. It tends to run better locally. So next time, I might take a lot more pictures and make a download available. I can also try a lower resolution, but that will obviously lose some detail. There's a trade off between resolution and animation smoothness. In my experience, when the images are fully loaded and you have spun the model around a few times, the images are loaded/cached and the animation runs smoothly. Actually I tried to make a turntable out of wood first, but that didn't work so well with the lighting. I needed to edit every images, which will take forever. Best thing would be to have a professional photography turntable, but those thing set you back around 1000 bucks, minimum. And after all; we're doing Lego reviews, so why not use Lego to build something. Now I am thinking about making an NXT turntable, since I have two units collecting dust anyway. I will need a base with several (modifiable) attachments to hold different sized models. -
[REVIEW] 42024 - Container Truck
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for the compliments! Can't speak for other reviewers, but when I will do a review, this will be the standard Took me quite some time, but it is fun to do and the appreciation is very motivating. So more reviews will probably follow. And I am working on improving the 360 degree view experience, so that will even be better in the future. -

Thanks Philo! And thanks in general for the kind words. Glad the reviews are appreciated. Thanks! I will make sure to include it next time. (I have included it for the 42024, based on Conchas' review) -
[REVIEW] 1H2014 Technic Sets
Jim replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great topic. Nice to have a collection of Video Reviews. As far as I'm concerned; it might even be better to post this in the http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=85899 topic next time. That way; we have all the speculation, information and (video/external) reviews in a single topic. What do you guys think? I will add this topic to the Technic Index -
I had the impression that this indeed was the case. I will look into it. This might take some time. On the other hand; the rules clearly state that the entry needs to be posted in the entry topic.

Thanks! Me too Took me quite some time, but it is fun to do. I still have some unbuilt models. Maybe I will review them as well. -
[REVIEW] 42024 - Container Truck

Nope. The outriggers should not be extended when emptying the container. When the outriggers are extended, the container doesn't hook behind the double split axle pin connector. -

Thanks!! I have posted my setup in the other review topic: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=89088entry1752497 Not very professional, but I indeed did use special lighting.
