Yup, you need to turn off all other lights. Last time I did forget to turn of the spots and I immediately saw an orange glow. Blinds closed, turn off other lights and preferably shoot when the sun has set (best results after dark).

50 bucks is defintely worth a try. I think you'll do just fine. When you shoot, you need to make sure to close the blinds. And preferably shoot at night/in the evening (when the sun has set). I have those blinds too and when the sun is shining it does afflect the results. Sudden increase in brightness of the sun results in irregular pictures, even if you close the blinds (they don't shut 100%).

I'm no expert, but looking at my results with pointing the lamp upwards, I'd say the umbrellas should work fine! As long as the light is indirect, you should get great results. I'm not sure the umbrellas are easier to store. I doubt they work like real umbrellas, so opening and closing frequently might cause them to break (not sure, just a thought).

[MOC] Poker Card Dealer
Jim replied to outrunner's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, Welcome to EB! This is a very nice creation to introduce yourself with. Well done I am very interested to know how you prevent the machine from dealing double cards? Is there any special mechanism, or you simply use new cards and the weight of the pile prevents double cards from being dealt? -
Yup, merging...

There's a generic topic about Photo Studios: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=102106 Not sure whether I mention the types of lamps I use, but I can look it up for you. They are pretty cheap (or affordable). Yup, there's a link somewhere in the topic: http://www.amazon.co...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1 As you can see, I only use two and maybe a single lamp would suffice. But I don't use a softbox. edit: light tent I recommend you read the topic. It's quite interesting (imho). I see you were the last one to respond in that topic

One of the cabinets can be easily transformed into a photography area. All you need is some PVC or Paper backdrop which can be attached to the wall (or to the bottom of one of the shelves, with Velcro). And you would need one or two (cheap) studio lamps (facing upwards on a stand will do the trick). Both the backdrop and lamps can be removed so you keep the room tidy. Another option would be to buy a soft box, which you can put on your desk. This does take up a cubic meter to store it somewhere (unless you fold it).

Hi, Welcome to EB! I really need to point some thing out. You are responding to a two year old topic, which is called topic bumping. Please read the site guidelines about topic bumping, since this is frowned upon. Furthermore; you don't NEED instructions. It's been two years since the last post, so if there were instructions you would probably know by now. And after a couple of days you create a new post stating you need instructions. Please don't do this again. You can ask the creator if he is planning to do instructions, but please refrain from doing this in two year old topics and ask it in a proper manner, not by simple typing "need instructions". This is not how we go about on Eurobricks. Thanks for understanding.

Great Ball Contraptions always generate high interest during LEGO events. That's no suprise, because they are tremendously mesmerizing. There are loads of skilled GBC builders, but Akiyuki could be considered the Messi of 'em all. Our Technic Regulator Blakbird caught the GBC virus and is replicating Akiyuki's projects, including the Ball Factory. This project has reached a high degree of completion and it's time to showcase it to a wider audience than just readers of the Technic forum. At this point, there are full instructions released for 17 modules with a couple more on the way.

I'm about to order some of these boxes. This one seems to have the same dimensions as the others (305 x 170 x 435 mm): http://v-shop-online.com/allit-varioplus-ladenkasten/varioplus-basic-d-21-kleinteilemagazin.html I'm thinking of mixing these: http://v-shop-online.com/allit-varioplus-ladenkasten/varioplus-basic-54-kleinteilemagazin.html http://v-shop-online.com/allit-varioplus-ladenkasten/varioplus-basic-44-kleinteilemagazin.html http://v-shop-online.com/allit-varioplus-ladenkasten/varioplus-basic-d-21-kleinteilemagazin.html http://v-shop-online.com/allit-varioplus-ladenkasten/varioplus-basic-d-34-kleinteilemagazin.html
