  1. I won't be doing a full review with technical data, sorry. I can test the longevity of the charge, but that's about it.
  2. This week I received the controller. I have tested it yesterday and I am pleased with how it works. The range is limited to 10-12 meters. Up to 6 meters (or so) the response is pretty fast, after that there is a slight delay. The controller is very comfortable to use and the position of the buttons is very well thought out. It's just like operating a Playstation or XBox controller. One thing that could be improved is the ability to rotate the two main levers, like the new Powered-up controller. Other than that this is the perfect solution for a model with four motors, one for driving, one for steering and the other two to operate two functions. The shoulder buttons both make the motor move in opposite directions. I'd rather give this remote to my nephews (or kids in general) than my smart phone. I have not tested how long the battery box will last until it needs to be recharged. But since you can charge it via USB, it's very easy to charge it again. I definitely recommend getting a unit, especially given the price. Not sure about the durability, but I am happy I got one Looks nice too!
  3. Cool! Currently I am more active with my EV3 units, so I loved to see this one!
  4. Another master piece! Great work on a special vessel
  5. Exactly. We could consider going a bit more generic in the robotics department, allowing Arduino etc.
  6. This is exactly what is bothering me. There's no active board where you can find answers to simple questions. But this might indeed attract minors to the board. This is why I would like to have information in one place and easily obtainable. Facebook sucks when I comes to keeping track of things.
  7. Something like that isn't a bad idea. I have been thinking about different setups and I will take your suggestion into consideration!
  8. That's way too subjective. And I think the car competition is out of the picture anyway. If the majority likes flying machines, in the broadest sense of the word, I am definitely not against it.
  9. That was exactly why I was aiming for a more generic theme.
  10. Recently, someone posed the question/suggestion to have a separate Mindstorms section on Eurobricks. I (probably) answered that there's not enough Mindstorms content and/or activity to justify a separate section. But now that I am working on my EV3 robot again, I see that lots of forums are not active anymore, and the Facebook group is not ideal to find information. So, I am contemplating on creating a dedicated Mindstorms subforum. It will be much easier to find and share information. But it's useless if only a couple of members are interested. So, my question is simple.....any active Mindstorms builders on EB who would like to have such a subforum?
  11. This is basically the Supercar Hommage competition, limited to cars (without the use of panels). I was under the impression that the majority preferred a more down to earth competion. Hence the supercar or C-model concepts. If we all like the "Build Something Innovative" concept I am not against it. But I am afraid this will cater the pro-builders much more than the not-so-pro-builders.
  12. We have discussed this in the past and it will boil down to building three models and it's hard to enforce rules for using parts. While the idea sounds great, it has complications. Define "original vehicles"?!
  13. I forgot to mention, but the supercar hommage competition will not allow electronics either.
  14. @BrickbyBrickTechnic That is absolutely something I have been thinking about and it is kinda what I meant by "is it interesting enough".
  15. There are probably more people here with limited funding, so you are not alone. I understand your predicament, but I have removed the link anyway. I hope your will acquire more funds in the future.
  16. It's 41 years indeed, but I would like you to build a 40 year hommage, not 41 I don't want to limit anyone by enforcing certain rims or wheels (unless more people think this is a cool idea). If people want to use the chassis made by TLG they are not seriously competing. Edit: Using the same rims and wheels does provide a basis for building the same scale, which is kinda cool.
  17. Okay, I will think out loud for a moment. Next contest should be fairly basic. These are the two things I have in mind. C-MODEL CONTEST Build an alternate model of an existing set. I'm thinking different categories to make it more interesting. For example, sets under 1000 parts, between 1000-2000 and >2000. Something along these lines. Winner in each category gets a prize and the top-3 of all contestants get medals. Unfortunately no physical prize for #2 and #3, unless these contestants happen to be the winners in their respective category. 40 YEAR TECHNIC SUPERCAR HOMMAGE Build yourself a proper 40-year anniversary supercar. There is one catch though; panels are NOT allowed. No panels....why?! 40 years ago we didn't have panels, so we relied on different techniques to make the bodywork. And since the 8880 is widely considered to be one of the best supercars TLG ever released, I would like to see you match it. This is all about getting functions in the chassis. Downside to this contest is that people can use an existing chassis, possibly add some functions and work on the body. This is hard to avoid/judge/detect. Not sure if this will pose a problem. And I am not really sure this is interesting enough. Probably, but not sure. For this contest I would like to make two categories, one for former medal winners (pro builders) and one for non-medal winners (the future pros). Each category winner gets a prize and I will raffle one prize. Top-3 overall get medals, but no prizes for #2 and #3.
  18. I am not in favor of allowing custom (3D) printed parts, so don't count on being able to use these for contests.
  19. That is actually a valid answer
  20. There should be two questions which you need to answer. But the easy answer is...don't worry about it as an existing member. If you can post here you are good to go
  21. I wasn't planning on doing a review, but a mini-review seems like the logical thing to do
  22. Actually, it feels like a clone....of BuWizz This is a very interesting product. Interesting enough for me to instantly order one. It has already been shipped.
  23. Hi. Thanks for the compliment. But please no clone brand discussions here. We focus on LEGO
