How to motorize a Diorama?
Jim replied to Tassiruam's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Controlling different motors and sensors at the same time is what Minstorms is all about. Not sure why the LEGO seller would say that?! -

This sums it up pretty much. Get yourself a retail EV3 set, like @Busterhaus said and embark on the journey. We are planning to do monthly challenges/mini contests, so there will be enough to do and learn. By the way; the education version does have the rechargeable battery, which is quite convenient. And a nice box to store your stuff. Something to take into consideration. I have added this topic to the index.

You can also go for the PFMate. I have been testing it and it works nicely. http://www.mindsensors.com/ev3-and-nxt/123-pf-motor-controller-for-nxt-or-ev3-pfmate From what I recall TLG made these cables. Which is confirmed by this article: http://www.bartneck.de/2015/06/01/building-instructions-for-a-cable-that-connects-lego-power-functions-pf-with-mindstorms-nxtev3/ The cables are out of production, but you can still get them, if you want to fork out that kind of cash. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=8528-1#T=S&O={"iconly":0}- 11 replies

Nope, tags don't provide that kind of functionality. They are merely used to identify topics and to improve searching. -

Not exactly, but usually earlier than this year. You can go through the previous year's topics if you really want to know hehe. TLG is probably more cautious nowadays. -

Okay guys, let’s not go down the “no photos” road. Try to be patient and wait for tangible info -
New Mindstorms Forum
Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yup, yet another forum. But if you are working with EV3, you feel a desperate need to have information gathered in a single place. A place where users are active and questions get answered. Glad you support the idea I'm not really sure why would need to tag MOCs so you can search them in Technic, while they are simply visible in another forum. Just visit the other forum every so often and keep an eye out on the frontpage -

PFx Bricks
Jim replied to WvG_853's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
No problem. I agree it doesn't come cheap. They missed the first Kickstarter because they didn't reach the required funding for a certain number of units. After that they started a new campaign for less units. And I reckon making less units bumps the price per unit. If I am not mistaken you can use other LEDs btw. The price might put some people off, but it is a quality product. I love the ease of use and the available software. -

This is a very nice project! Off topic: you mention reading NFC tags on the EV3. Care to elaborate? (or create a new topic) I know there used to be a HiTechnic or Mindsensors or even an official NFC sensor.- 12 replies
