Technically yes, but with all the content (forum posts) from Eurobricks. A different technical solution, so yeah a different site. But this is not an easy task, so maybe it's better to forget I said it When you create software for a living, it's frustrating to be confined to the functionality offered by a third party vendor.

We do have that as well (not active, we can activate it). But the spammers are most likely no bots, but humans.
-
We do get a lot of support from the community. People are definitely creating reports. And we have members who can ban spammers. But the main issue is that it is a constant stream of spam.
-
Absolutely agree. We do have four questions at the moment, but we can add several more. Today we already had around 50 spam accounts today and after we switched to manual account approval with the personal question........zero spam and a lot less registrations. It definitely is helping, but it comes at a (time consuming) price.
-
Exactly. And 80% of new registrations is spam, so it's either banning the 80% or approving the 20%. Ooops

It's time we make our own Eurobricks website Something I have been thinking about a lot lately. We would have full control over every aspect.
-
We already had some questions, but once they know the answers, we're lost again. It won't take long to find out that the answer is Billund. The current setup seems to working out nicely, but we do need to go through the list several times a week.

We have been looking into a way to prevent new users from creating topics. But the board doesn't seem to have this functionality. We will contact them though, to find out. This might lead to spam posts instead of spam topics though. I wouldn't call Spam attacks a delicate matter like surgery btw. It's more like tower defense

Thanks! We hope to scare off spammers this way. Not sure if it works, but doing nothing won't help either.

Recently, the board has been flooded with spam messages. In order to prevent spam from entering our beloved board, we are testing some drastic measures. The first is that we have setup manual approval of accounts. This is very cumbersome, yet effective. Second, is that we will ask some personal information upon registration. Unfortunately, this means that existing members will need to fill out that information too. Just so you know, this is probably not the final solution, so please bear with us. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please visit this topic to discuss.

I am currently working on spam prevention. We have setup manual account approval. This is far from ideal, but if that is what it takes. This means that we will ask some questions upon registration. Unfortunately, this means that existing members need to add this information as well. We are not sure that this will be the final solution, but we need to do SOMETHING. And the board software we are using only gives us a certain set of options.

I have been thinking about it and I think a post count treshold might do the trick. Post count greater than 100 for example.

Same goes for NEW member @Monforte who has made the EXACT same error and has the EXACT same votes 3: 10 1: 65: 44: 32: 23: 1 Both from Portugal, like Entry #3 @tkel86 This is not looking good. This contest will most likely be the end of public voting

Okay, enough has been said about the contest. I have noticed that discussion in the "current contest topic" kinda ruins the fun. So let's end the discussion for now end enjoy the end of this contest. Thank you all for your input. I will take things into consideration

No, it's not on your account. No need to make a mountain out of a molehill. Just a simple rule to nullify the feeling of having a disadvantage when lacking editing skills. Maybe the next contest doesn't even need a video

Fake / Phishing LEGO related Sites
Jim replied to keri206's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
All of these websites have been reported to TLG. They are very busy closing down sites like these. -
I'm guessing....easier theme, better time of year, pre-announced prizes will probably do the trick. The last thing we all want is an endless number of rules to try to make the contest more active, but probably be only counter productive.

The next one will follow shortly and will most likely be very simple to enter. And to be honest; I think that the no-edit-video rule will be the only change.

That is/was exactly the idea behind the two tiers And it’s only for prizes, not for medals or anything else.

@Erik Leppen Take a look at the previous contests and ask yourself whether the top-3 would have been different if they had unedited videos. I don't think it would have mattered. On the other hand; the no-effects (this also means no music/sounds) rule is pretty easy to implement, so it is definitely something we can consider.
