  1. I have created a new topic for the Multiplexer.
  2. I do need an external battery for my ledstrip too, so maybe I can get a bigger battery to power the multiplexer(s) and ledstrid. Can I still read/measure the motor rotations with the multiplexers? Supports speed control, timed rotations, encoder based rotations, etc. it seems you can.
  3. No worries. I totally get that. I'm happy that you are around to answer questions. I will take a look at the code and maybe I will use some of it in a post/poc of myself (of course with proper credits).
  4. It does require an external battery btw. I prefer a solution with EV3 bricks, but I might give it a go.
  5. That is exactly what I have done with my robot. I do have a problem with the slave motor blocks which keep running. I was about to create a topic for it. Basically what happens is that the slave blocks don't end when they are supposed to end. So after running a motor for 2 seconds, the blocks keep running. Have you encountered that problem? (I can post the link to am article online by someone who had the exact same problem, but I need to look it up) I have been thinking about this multiplexer. I will add one to my next order at mindsensors. I need to get an IRLink and some cables, so I will order it soon. Is there a limit to the number of motors running simultaneously? I reckon running 16 motors on the same brick can result in some issues? Batteries will probably drain pretty quickly.
  6. Yes, yes, yes!!! This is exactly what I am aiming at with my robot. Yours is awesome! I would to hear how you have implemented inter-brick communication! Which environment? Which communication method etc? Tell me more....tell me more....
  7. @Hanso Would you be interested to create a separate topic for discussing the EV3 to PC communication? Especially multiple/lots of EV3's. You could start the forum with [POC] as in Proof of Concept if you will actually show an implementation. Otherwise, it would be great if you could simply explain the theory.
  8. Do you like original Star Wars Trilogy and Rogue 1? Do you also love LEGO? Then you should support this fanfilm project! Escape – Episode II is a totally new story from the galaxy far, far away.... Empire forces led by Darth Vader are on the hunt for a Jedi Knight who survived the Jedi Purge. It is an animation full of great adventures with rebels, Empire and bounty hunters. Filled with great locations and spaceships. You will meet both already well known characters and a new heroes. @Kalais - an AFOL from our forum is willing to quit his job to make this big LEGO Star Wars stop motion animation. He is a professional graphic designer, photographer and film maker. He built a lot of MOCs and made several LEGO stop motion videos including commissioned videos for the LEGO Group and his works were featured on The LEGO Batman Movie DVD/BLU-Ray and The LEGO Ninjago Movie. Now he started the crowdfunding campaign and need your help with funding the movie. He started this project 2 years ago and making it after work hours would take him another 2 or 3 years to finish. That's why he want to quit his job and finish it in 2 months. Check out the campaign in the Star Wars forum. May the Force be with this project!
  9. Sweet! So we need to start working on a Eurobricks game hehe
  10. Interesting. Tell me more. What kind of games? Which environment? Making games is one of my hobbies too. Way back I made applets and midlets. Now I am using Game Maker Studio. I do mostly simple 2D games, like card games for example. Cool ? Maybe we should start a separare topic in community
  11. That is very nice! Can you show me some pics of the base? Is it based on a design like this? Will the instructions be available too?
  12. Perfect! That’s what I’m talking about. Nice work summing up the requirements. Now you can start thinking about the design. I would love to see you do this with an EV3 unit, so we can help/test more easily.
  13. He means that he can only send PM’s when he has reached 10 posts. But PM isn’t necessary. Just post the questions here @xp10r3r
  14. Thanks Ed. I am currently working with PFMate, which works fine. But I do like the form factor of the IR link better. It simply matches my other sensors better. Maybe I will bit the bullet and get one (or two). They will work with RobotC and probably leJos too.
  15. I figured you were talking about that one. I have been looking for an EV3-G block, but that doesn't seem to exist anymore. They removed it after a certain firmware version (or something like that). Do you know if there is a block that works with the latest firmware? I was about to order one or two sensors, but only if I can (also) use them in EV3-G.
  16. Yes, you can always restore the original firmware
  17. RobotC is a very robust programming language. For me it has one impediment and that is the lack of daisy chaining support. leJos is also a long time friend of Mindstorms. I need to check it out. leJos needs to be installed on a separate memory card, while RobotC requires updating the brick with a custom firmware. After that you won't be able to use EV3-G anymore. It all depends on what you consider a "fully automated warehouse", but I do think this can be acquired using EV3-G. I would love to see you make a list of requirements, so we can judge your project. And it will be easier for you to break down the work in testable units. For example: Move arm (x and y axis) Move arm to unit x, y Grab a container from ... ? (truck, assembly line, ..?) Grab a container from a storage unit Store container in storage unit x, y ... To me these are some basic tasks you need to accomplish. But do you consider this to be a "fully automated warehouse"? Can you create a complete list of tasks/requirements for your project?
  18. Which IR Transmitter are you referring to? I am in the midst of doing some stuff with IR so I am interested to know the options. (maybe this warrants a separate topic)
  19. Graphical enviroments tend to be limiting. Admittedly, you can do a LOT with the graphical environment used by Mindstorms, but when it comes to bigger programs, it's more convenient to use RobotC or leJos or ev3dev or something. I want to start topics on all of these environments to share my experience. For most of them, I am a noob myself, so we all need to help each other
