  1. Found some on this really fascinating site - clicky. Tons of pictures from LEGO's early years. No idea how to date them though. The below are the most relevant to castle. Sure, the castle's cool, but what really interests me here is the right side model: Some nice tudor buildings/church: And this one, showing the SirSven's fort in a Wild West setting: So what do I win?
  2. Looks great! I'm really impressed with her proportions - for a prefab hull the width is just amazing. How many midsections is this? I love the old style stern balconies as well, we don't see many of those. Is this the final colorscheme? She might look good with the blue on some models, although the current colorscheme has a great wooden feel to it. Keep it up!
  3. Yeah, it's some sort of CP meme that got started waaay back here. Maybe this topic should have a poll? There might be too many though (eliminating the similiar ones on Bricklink there's around 20 just from the classic line).
  4. I'm pretty sure that's just the lighting. But you could build the castle in dark tan . . . EDIT: Argh, damn you K-nut!!
  5. Thanks for another great blog SirSven, your commentary and all the alternate and advertising pics you find are really interesting. The weird thing is, I like most of the alternate designs more than the original sets. Keep it up!
  6. To tell the truth I'm actually really excited POTC's over. I haven't bought a single set from that line. Hopefully this means the hiatus of classic pirates is over. Pirates 2013 anyone?
  7. Here. None for sale yet though.
  8. Awesome, another ship using cb4's techniques, her shape looks quite nice already. My only concern right now is that once you start building the tumblehome the ship might be too skinny.
  9. The classic redcoat infantry fig. Looks great in formation and are more accurate in uniform than the newer ones. I love this one as well, it works really well as a British naval officer (the torso, that is).
  10. My first thought too, reminded me of one of the officers aboard the Acheron in the final chase scene. Or one of the POTC pirate lords. Can't seem to find a screenshot online. As for the original question, I wouldn't use this piece for a governor unless it was painted grey. It's a great mold though, thanks to TLG for making if minifig-compatible.
  11. Yes, you made a WIP thread! I'll be following this. The first build was already amazing, she'd make a great East Indiaman. Only thing I don't like right now is that the gunports are sunk into the side, but that's a really small complaint, keep it up!
  12. This is just fantastic! As I've said in the WIP Thread my favorite part is the stern, the balconies' shape and the gilding are awesome. You used some great techniques for the tumblehome, but somehow this build still looks very classic. One of my favorite ships.
  13. Awesome pictures, they look great in formation. Although the shields seem a bit small.
  14. NIce layout, I'm not sold on the paper roof but other than that it's great, you captured the feeling very well and it reminds me a little of some ports in the Aubrey-Maturin series. Awesome that you're going to keep expanding. Since it's a small port, for defence maybe you could just build a Martello Tower? The lighthouse sounds good too.
  15. Awesome bomb ketch Corioso, she'll be a terror to enemy shipping. I do think the cannons are a bit large for the deck though, and if you reduced them in size or just got rid of them (bomb ketches often weren't otherwise armed) then you could make a hatch cover like on the Grenado. Anyways, a great ship, and I can't wait for your next project.
  16. I like the grey fort a lot - it has some massive firepower along with a cool three tiered design. But what really stands out for me is the Black Knight, she's such a beautiful little sloop that I could see TLG doing as a real classic set. Awesome.
  17. Thanks for the review Scouts! The shopped first pic is lovely. I gave it a four simply because it's an awesome parts pack for expanding your other Imperial installations - the arches, panels, flags, etc. are ubiquitous throughout the theme and thus immensely useful and just awesome to get in such a small set. If they released it today (at $8.75 especially!), hell, I'd buy dozens.
  18. Lovely pictures Inconspicuous! Looks like you had fun on your trip. The first and last are my favorites - the waterfall in the first is just gorgeous (and the islander looks right at home), and the scenery of the last is perfectly minifig-scaled and reminds me of the Galapagos scenes in Master and Commander. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Welcome to Eurobricks! You've got a great castle Kalinatek. It looks exactly how I would imagine the Black Knight's Castle to look in minifig scale (especially the gatehouse ), you've captured the grandeur of the original design perfectly and the colorscheme works wonderfully here. The baseplate is well integrated into the structure, and the secret entrance is a nice homage to the original.
  20. That's an awesome Kraken, trumps even Skrytsson's - the back shaping is just absolutely lovely. Shame about the Barracuda though.
  21. Jojo has a bunch here. Because they're cool. The way they used to do them was like artwork and it's nice seeing the sets in their natural setting. Look at this (and just imagine how much those cypresses would cost)!
  22. Hilarious. The latest one especially. Well done too, love the brickbuilt thought bubbles. And since I've just seen it, congrats on the MOC expert.
  23. Stunning as always Captain! I like the new figurehead very much. I do think the stem is a bit bulky though, especially towards the top. Off topic, but I've been looking through your stuff for pictures of St. Augustine (I'm planning my own port) but they've all disappeared, where to? Happy holidays to you too, and I can't wait to see the next updates.
  24. Definitely, it loads very quickly and I haven't had any "website down" periods since the upgrade. Thanks a lot for your work Bonaparte!
  25. Thank god. I've always wanted to comment on your ships but have never been able to pick anything out. Your pictures are much better but I think they'd look better taken in natural light. There's a bunch of resizing tutorials here but a neat trick is just to stick this in front of your URL: http://i.tinysrc.mobi/800/600/. Anyways, I'm excited to follow this WIP, I think it's the first minifig scale Surprise I've ever seen. Have fun and merry Christmas!
