  1. First off, thanks for hosting Def! A great game, even if my playing was pretty cruddy, so I'm really looking forward to the advice. I screwed up entirely the first couple days, trusting a some scum behind the scenes and voting for the totally wrong people. I got my act together towards the end of the third day and figured out a strategy/who the scums were in PM, but by then I think everyone pretty much had it too. Still, I'm glad we won and I made it through to the end. My role PM:
  2. ZCerberus you have too many bricks, I think this trebuchet is taller than any wall I have the bricks to build. A great design (I'm impressed how all those angles fit together), looks very sturdy and functional as well. Although I've never seen wheels like that on a trebuchet before, I assume it's like a hamster wheel to wind up the catapult?
  3. Here's another pic, from a review I hope to publish soon (damn RA rules ) on the Imperial Trading Post:
  4. Thanks for bringing this to our attention! Truly a fantastic project, we've all seen tons of hundred-year old crumbling castles but when finished this will look as one in it's prime. Awesome.
  5. I'm sorry if you're offended. I didn't feel it was such a big deal, seeing as this is a mafia game and really the only evidence we have besides investigations are what people have said. I realize you saying that "you forgot" is a bit less related to the game than other things, but when you sent that I saw it as a somewhat weak excuse to get me off your back, because personally I don't think I could completely forget about the game for a whole day. Two wrongs don't make a right, but people have done it to me too and I didn't get offended because of it (sure, I got angry, but that was because they accused me). No hard feelings I hope, and let's focus on the game. We can take this up in PM if you want.
  6. Well, as I said you win with your team. Obviously I'd rather stay alive the whole game, but when I sent that PM I was afraid today would go the same as the day before (no one posting, no leads, etc). Also I put myself because A) no one will believe me if I just say I'm town (there's no way for me to prove that) and B) to avoid any questions like "why don't you just let us kill you? are you trying to trick us into killing two townies?" or something like that, since I wouldn't be around for a loong time to answer them. Though it doesn't look like that worked, it just sparked questions in the opposite direction. Statistically it looks to me like if we just kill off completely unconfirmed (Christos, Pirelly, Skip) and then failing that the somewhat unconfirmed (Carrot, Zam) it's impossible for us to lose. Though I could be wrong on that. I vote Pirelly Dabito (piratedave84) Bah, I didn't bold the whole thing, don't want to be penalized. I vote: Pirelly Dabito (piratedave84) Epic fail number two on this post, I meant (Carrots, Voltana) not (Carrots, Zam)
  7. You're right, I was thinking about this yesterday with some other people in PM and I think it could work if we just killed all three. I know I might die (depending on which we decide to kill tonight) but since you win with your team that's fine by me. Wully has told me if we kill lynched one of the three he'd have no problem killing one of the other two tonight. Only problem is if our "confirmed townies" aren't actually confirmed townies. My PM: It's a bit of a defeatist strategy and very rough but it's an idea, what do you all think? I'll answer questions and tons of criticism ( ) when I get back.
  8. Thanks, yeah I plan to keep going. The next reconstructions will take longer though, I did a lot today because I'm on break. Back to school tomorow though. First post updated with the Armada Outpost. That thing was a pain in the to build, I've always said the newer instructions are too easy but these were so hard! Like 20 pieces a step, and placements are unclear. Some were put in "floating," and their support bricks put in later.
  9. Captain Morgan, are you looking for a tutorial on the design aspects of realistic forts (like the tutorials Horry made) or how to build a nice looking fort (like Captain Greenhair's)? Because they are very different things. I don't have time to write a tutorial right now nor am I a historian on the subject but I can recommend you some sites that I've used. "Fortified Places," has articles/pictures on various types of cannon forts all over coastal Europe, good place to get inspired My favorite fort type is the Vauban fort, Wikipedia is always a good place to start. Some famous Vauban forts you can look up are Fort Ticonderoga, Castle of Good Hope, etc. This and this (some self promotion here) are pretty good examples in LEGO. I don't know what this one's called but the Torre de Belem was pretty representative of another generally Spanish type, you can see some lego MOC's here and here. For ideas of interior details we had a topic on this a while ago, Horry's post two down is a pretty good list. Hope that helps, don't forget Google!! And you don't need a lot of hull pieces to build a ship, Brickbeard's Bounty's pieces are perfect for making an unrated sloop of war or something of that sort.
  10. Well you asked for it, here they are: Link to other topic. Islander Catamaran: Pirate Sailboat:
  11. Hey guys! Inspired by SirSven7's posting of old alternate/inspirational model pictures from the original Classic Pirate's line and LEGO Idea Books, I've set out to recreate them on LDD. I've done three so far, I'll post the rest as I finish them. If any of you have other alternate pics, feel free to share them here and in the other topic, I'll do my best to recreate them. If they're available, the "official model" picture will be linked to instructions. LXFs with each. IMPERIAL SOLDIER FORT: LXF Official Model: We start off with this fort from Book 260-1, pages 42 and 43. A total of two infantry, one officer, and Governor Broadside. 3/4 View: The main model of this set. Looks nice doesn't it? I'd almost say it's supposed to be a SYSTEM Torre de Belem, but that might be stretching it a bit. One cannon, and a little dock in front. No door, enter through the back. Back: The usual spartan interior of classic sets. The bottom floor is actually quite roomy though, the floor may be water but that would be easy to mod with just a few plates. The tower interior is essentially useless, seeing as the floor is tiled over. Cannon Emplacement: A close-up on the swivel cannon. To the left, six cannonballs. Rowboat: Your standard imperial rowboat, not much to say here. Next model! ISLANDER CATAMARAN: LXF Offical Model: From this puny picture you can make out the catamaran from Book 697-1, pages 16 through 19. Includes four typical Islanders, one semi-naked pirate and a pegleg sailor/pirate. The minifig selection here is somewhat strange, instead of King Kahuka himself captaining the ship there are two pirates. I wonder if they are prisoners or if they've enslaved the islanders, which would be a strange move by LEGO. Back: This thing's a beast. It's much bigger than the released Islander catamaran, and has the addition of another rowboat as a third hull, making this more of an outrigger. The bright colors and palm leaves definitely capture the Islander feel, and all six figs fit snugly on. I dislike one thing about it, which is clearer in the next picture. Front: It's built with huge columns of stone! This would never get off the beach, let alone float. But suspending disbelief, it looks rather menacing and I think the design would look better when covered with the leafy prints that aren't available on LDD. Outriggers: As you can see each fig has a function and spot on this ship. There are platforms on the side for archers, and a space for a rower in the back. PIRATE SAILBOAT: LXF Official Model: From Book 260-1, pages 40 and 41. I warn you, this model's pretty underwhelming. Includes three pirates. Front: Building off of a rowboat hull is a cool concept, but I really don't think it works well. And I've never liked brick sails. Action: OMG an action feature!!! This was actually pretty cool and unexpected. Since it's built on hinges, the deck can be kicked up either to access (a tiny) storage area or simulate an explosion/cannon fire. ARMADA OUTPOST: LXF, Instructions. No official pic for this one, sorry. From Book 697-1, pages 20 and 21. Four minifigs. Outpost 3/4: Looks nice, a lot of BURP rockwork and of course the beautiful white/green/red Armada colorscheme. You may notice the rectangular trench in the sand in the lower left, that's for a play function later. Another thing is, that slanted roof is just held on by a couple studs "hooking" together, would definitely be an illegal connection now. Outpost Right: Here we can see the official entrance to the outpost, as well as get a slight glance into the tower room. You can't really see much, but you're not really missing much either. Inside there's just a blue table with a map as furniture. Secret Entrance: Alright, back to that trench. That allows the big BURP on the left to slide over, revealing another entrance to the tower as well as this skeleton. No picture of the entrance, its prety boring anyways. Rowboat: To finish this little rowboat. Nothing special but the colors stand out. That's all for now, I hope you enjoyed them. Have a great day! ~Skipper
  12. Alright, sorry for accusing you yesterday Dragus. You were acting pretty strange though. And yes, Wully went after Zam, I asked this morning.
  13. Ay Carumba! First one done. LXF SirSven7, would you rather have them here or in new topic with more in-depth pictures/words?
  14. Oh wow. Love the classic stuff. To add another picture, I've scanned this off the back of the Legends BSB instructions. I spent hours trying to build this ship when I was younger, but it was impossible with only the frontal view. Looks the same as the one in your first picture though. Pics links to higher res. I'm going to have a go at some of them in LDD later, I'll post them when I finish.
  15. Well, since it's been bumped I have suggestion for your remake. Since you're building on the IFS hulls, why not just use the bottom parts? That would make your ship look a lot faster and sleeker (not to mention more realistic).
  16. 14) Eskimo Entry (Build by Skrytsson) - 2 points 27) Zoo Keeper Entry (Build by Ninja Nin) - 1 point Good luck everyone.
  17. Thanks for another great review! That triceratops is stunning, the truck less so but still pretty good. The rugged functional look is done very well, but something about the front looks off to me. Only thing that really bugs me is the door to the cage, honestly the Triceratops could just shuffle out of captivity.
  18. I have to second that - there's so much stuff flooding the forum right now it's hard to keep up. Giving Historica a separate forum would also open it up to having it's own index of mocs, guild challenges, whatever.
  19. Damn, after reading this review (and some still in the RA ) I'm loving this theme, which is a bad thing because there's so much else I like. The set looks great, lots of neat features like that lifting gate, although it looks like the T Rex could jump right over the wall. Awesome review, it covers everything and has great pictures, I hope mine will get to this level.
  20. Nice army. This is pretty much the size I'm aiming for with mine, just need a some more soldiers and horses. Great job on the water shot as well, looks like they're having a rough time of it. What does the blue-yellow-red represent? Is it a regimental thing?
  21. That ship looks completely fantastic, I can't believe that's your first adult MOC. Great detailings everywhere (especiall at the stern, and nice use of the LEGO lion graphic on the sail), and I especially love the wooden feel of this ship. A little tall for my tastes but the interior more than makes up for that. Did you photograph this professionally? The pictures are amazing.
  22. Looking fantastic! The colors you chose for the exterior are great, especially the red/tan for the awnings. It really pops. But the best part is the interior. I think you have a talent for making details with LEGO, looking at the cakes, ceiling fan, and the flower bouquets (NPU!) outside. Keep it up, I can't wait to see what you do with the rest. EDIT: Oops, just realized it wasn't your design. My bad. Still a great project though.
  23. Well, I see a distinction between the two of us. I don't get online for the time that I don't post, and when I do I try to help as much as possible. You, to use today specifically as an example were online nearly the entire day, reading/posting in other threads but never bothered to come in here. And when I asked you about it, you said "I forgot." And to generalize to past days, if we look at the log I posted above you don't really say much. Make of it what you will. Keep in mind half of the motive behind my vote (besides the 50% that believes you are scum) is to provoke some conversation, as we've had a lack of it today. Although apparently now doing that marks you as scum.
  24. Alright, let's break this down shall we? I'm done explaining why I get here later than a lot of you, if you still need to know maybe you should start paying attention to the thread. Yes I voted for Flanagan, on the same grounds that a lot of people are voting for me: apparently unhelpful posts. He did some random roleplaying shit and never gave us any information. And then he told us that he had cracked the map and still didn't show us after directly prompted to. It's hard to look at that record and not think scum. And it would be a really clumsy move for a scum to kill the person he was accusing in the day thread, that just makes them really obvious. First off, that's not what I said, not once did I mention a frame job. Here you go: At that time I was utterly convinced Darth Nihilus was a scum, and as the votes were somewhat close I decided to add some "insurance" that he would be lynched before I went to sleep (and thus couldn't monitor the thread) and the day ended. Most of the time, when a person dies and they are proved to be townie, you can assume they never lied in-thread. From there was the basis of my first post. I would think the second thing is obvious. First off, I've never played a mafia game before. I've done some research since on how hosts reveal people's roles to the cop, but when you're new to the game and the result comes up with a non-specific "not-town," you wonder why. When you say what I say, quote exactly what I say, ok? Important part in bold. Yes, you know why I needed time? I just read through the whole thread, you don't make good judgements in two seconds. WHy did I vote for Zam Kuric? What you said, only you left out the uselesness of his posts. Why didn't I vote for Gilly? He was already ahead, and I thought it best to spread out the votes. Having too many people piled on one person doesn't help when you're trying to analyze votes in later days (for example, the Wife of Darth). I've explained why I didn't vote Gilly to save Wully earlier in the thread. Another point why is because I had no other leads, so killing someone claiming to be an SK couldn't be worse than a random kill. What did I have against Zam? Maybe what I outlined in the thread. Why would I be trying to redirect you to Sir Carrots if you hadn't revealed your suspicion of me to me at that time? For the same reason (I trusted you at the time) I believed you when you "spun some tosh" to me against Carrots. Nothing in mafia is known for fact, I was going off of what people (you) told me. Of course I needed more megablocking time, as I said I was waiting on a PM. And I don't see you target all the people who didn't even bother to post . . . or answer your list of questions. "Can't point to anything suspicious other than not contributing, " is this not what people have been doing to me constantly throughout these three days? And I also was suspicious of that little stint with Franklin holmes. And why on Earth would a scum want to break the silence? Everyone's been happy to lie low the whole day which I consider a shit strategy, that's why I brought up an accusation. As you yourself have said many times, we need to talk to out the scum.
