Little work of my day https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chibi_(slang) Inspiration from Mavis Vermillion, in the Manga Fairy Tail. Made with LDD and stud.io. Failed to make the hair that long, curly and half-tapered back. Just a horror to do! So I'd settle for short hair Chibi by Horlack, sur Flickr

Heavy Communications Rover (Classic Space)
Horlack Bricks replied to Celloguy's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
nice work :) -
(Sorry if my english, is not totally perfect) Classic-Space History lesson that many missed : Why is this construction cult ? And yet, 99.99% of Classic-Space fans/afols don't know it. This scene went under the radar of fans/afols. It all started with the 2019 Lego Movie 2 'Goodies'/'bonus" video, which was not publicized and went fairly unnoticed. The LEGO Movie 2 The Second Part Saving Bricksburg Stopmotion Compilation! The LEGO Movie ReTeling, 4 febr. 2019 : (Only the first few minutes of the video) As a good Classic-Space/afol fan, I got it into my head to rebuild with LDD and Stud.io, the 2 Lego constructions in the video, part by part, frame by frame. And there, I discovered a pretty huge Easter Eggs. The 3 spacemen characters from 3 pivotal Lego Classic-Space periods were obvious, but it was above all, the famous and unique Trans-Green brick among 12 Trans-Yellow, which made me realize, that LEGO had hidden lots of Easter Eggs in this single scene. [Classic Space] little-known anthology scene by Horlack, sur Flickr This construction, is a LEGO Classic-Space history. And the "biggest sick" in the world of Classic-Space, should have rebuilt it for his personal collection, and worship him every day :) For the most part, the understanding of the Easter Eggs, below, should be based on the year 1979, not 1978. 1978 is the year of the US version, and 1979 is the year of the US commercial version. Like for example the “Rocket Launch Pad” which was released in 1978 under number 483-1 in the USA, and released in 1979 under number 920-2 in Europe. This 1978 and 1979 debate is still being emulated today, and sometimes not settled. 1978 is the year zero of Classic-Space, but in the collective imagination, 1979 is often chosen, because it was the year that really made the commercial boom of this range. We find this debate, even on the largest reference sites, such as bricklink which catalogs it as 1979: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=493-1 and Brickset who cataloged it in 1978: https://brickset.com/sets/493-1/ In fact the 2 dates are valid. It depends on whether you take a purist point of view of year zero of creation, or year zero of the 1st launch and worldwide commercial success. Now on to the Easter Eggs, the part that interests us. The construction of this video brings together several historical and anthological things : 1 / - The red spaceman from 1979, the 1st Classic-Space figure, with white. Or 40 years. https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=S&catString=34.314 2 / -The white spaceman with this type of helmet, from the Collector's set 5002812 from 2014 and symbolizes 35 years of the Classic-Space theme. https://brickset.com/sets/5002812-1/Classic-Spaceman-Minifigure This same white spaceman with this type of helmet (sp006new2) also exists in a 2nd set, and not just any: Set 5000438 Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol. 2 - 2012 Edition, which is an edition that represents the history of LEGO. But is also composed of the black Spaceman from 1984 (sp003new2) with this same type of helmet, which exists only and only in this box. https://brickset.com/sets/5000438-1/Vintage-Minifigure-Collection-Vol-2-(TRU-edition) 3 / - The green spaceman, from the set 21109 Exosuit, Lego Ideas from 2014, which is the birth of a new combination color after several decades. 35 years separate from the 1st Classic Space set. Only available in this set. https://brickset.com/sets/21109-1/Exo-Suit 4 / - The latest, Benny, from Lego Movie. 5 / - The station and the radar, which is a nod to the Mythical Set Alpha-1 Rocket Base (483-1 in US, and 920-2 in EU) https://brickset.com/sets/483-1 https://brickset.com/sets/920-2 6 / - 2 times the blue part 3660p01 (the "01"), which is the 1st pad printed piece in "Inverted", appeared in the Alpha Rocket Base Set! Or 40 years. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3660p01 7 / - The white part 3069bp68, hanging on the white spaceman's walkie-talkie, which first appeared in MTron's 6833-Beacon Tracer set from 1990 (yeah it's well stashed in the video and only appears 0.5 seconds in the video), and which is the 1st wave of the Mtron sets. Par present in this 1st MTron wave in the sets 6877- Vector Detector, 6923- Particle Ionizer, 6956- Stellar Recon Voyager, and the legendary 6989-Mega Core Magnetizer which was made in 36 million MOCs / MODs different versions. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3069bp68 8 / - One and only part 3065 Trans-Green, among all the others which are Trans-Yellow. Yeah, at the back of the blue command-outpost, well hidden upstairs. The only piece that's wrong. The one which is strangely lit from behind in the photo, Nobody hit, on this rear light anomaly which has no place? Limit, we only see that, on this dark background, right in the middle of the image. This refers to the set 995-Lighting Bricks with Color Filters from 1969, which is the 1st lego attempt at making light / connected bricks. 2019 year of Lego Movie 2. 1969 the release of this "luminous" brick. 1969, the 1st man on the moon Do you see them the 50 years of Lego and the conquest of space? ? https://brickset.com/sets/995-1/Lighting-Bricks-with-Color-Filters For the more Classic-Space Fans/AFOLs, this simple Classic-Space command-outpot, from this "goodies" video from Lego Movie 2, says much more than it seems, and deserves to be rebuilt for his personal collection. . It is a Lego work, which is cult, for what it represents. And no one noticed her. There are probably other Easter Eggs that I missed. If you see others, share them. What ? You are crazy about "Classic-Space", and you did not watch the video frame by frame, and reconstruct part by part, like a big crazy of the theme ? -------------------- add on my flickr : https://www.flickr.com/photos/horlack/50170861431/ French reference : https://www.facebook.com/HorlackBricks/posts/166776851571370

[MOD] Martian Colonization Base, 4x 60227
Horlack Bricks replied to Horlack Bricks's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I still have the 6 modules attached to the tower-hub to do, and the tower-hub itself. I already have my idea on the ground floor of the tower-hub, and the 1st floor. The ground floor with a form of botanical greenhouse / fields, for food, and on the 1st floor, a command and boarding post. Part of the 6 remaining modules will surely be linked to the habitat (bed, dormitory, etc.). -

------------------------------ I am currently building the interior of the tower-hub. There is a lot of space inside to do things. The train cockpit (55768), vertically, make it possible to make 2 floors. The other modules are already built since it is set 60227 redone as the plans, with application of stickers with stud.io. But I admit, repeating the same content of modules can be monotonous. It can be reworked (which I probably would). I am currently building the mini botanical greenhouse (the food). Ohhh yes , i confirm totally ! I bought 4 boxes! (+21321 insternational space station) The 3x1 set is excellent. Everything is modular with a lot of construction possibilities By buying more than 10 boxes, I am convinced that it is possible to rebuild a complete, larger and diversified moon base: vehicles, vessels, solar power plant, radar, oxygen containers, etc. The one and only little regret: not 2nd female character.- 18 replies

My 1st flickr version had some success, so I decided to put it on Lego Ideas, renaming it to "Lunar Heavy Space Magneto-Hovercraft" I had to rename it and remove all logos, because moderation LEGO refuses old themes, old logo, and old set title (really they are borring). https://ideas.lego.com/projects/4496163e-2ee1-4232-92d0-7654e40bd779 https://www.facebook.com/HorlackBricks/posts/162606258655096 https://www.flickr.com/photos/horlack/- 18 replies

[Technique] Boat concept with Part 54090 (hijack)
Horlack Bricks replied to Horlack Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
You can enlarge the length to build a canoe, or amazonian dugout but not the width. I don't see how you can build a luxury yacht with 6-8 studs wide.. Maybe a small luxury sailboat (old and wooden => ie collection ), but probably not a luxury yatch. old and wooden => ie collectible, as "Armada of Rouen", or "Armada of Brest", "Maritime festivals of Douarnenez)" (french Towns) Annual gathering of old wooden ships, large and very small. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armada_de_Rouen https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fêtes_maritimes_de_Brest https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fêtes_maritimes_de_Douarnenez So yes, some of these very small boats are very expensive, because of collections (several hundred thousand euros for some rare skippers. More 50-100 years Old. Sometimes 150-200 years old). But it is not, because they are very expensive, that they are luxuries. As : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fêtes_maritimes_de_Brest#/media/Fichier:Yoles_-_Douarnenez_2008.jpg https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fêtes_maritimes_de_Brest#/media/Fichier:IMOCA-Britair.jpg https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fêtes_maritimes_de_Brest#/media/Fichier:Mutin-cutter.jpg -
A very simple technique (hijack/misappropriation of part) with part number 54090 Aircraft Fuselage Curved Forward 8 x 16 Bottom. The concept is super easy, and there are a lot of of people who don't know what to make of their airplane fuselage. They are so big. So there, with 2 parts, you have a boat hull, and in addition the studs are in the right place to put the tiles and plates at an angle, to make the edges. You can construct, boat, dugout, canoe, etc. Boat concept with Part 54090 by Horlack, on Flickr

[MOC] NeoClassic sets 886 897 1789 6801 Recustomized
Horlack Bricks replied to Horlack Bricks's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Thanks very much. :) Indeed, this is the 6801, which I did first, among the 4. I did not find an MOC for the 6801. But only small MODs, with very small modifications (often only in colors, + 1 antenna, 1-2 additional guns, + Boosters). It was he who gave me the inspiration to do it in MOC. So if, my research is good and correct, I believe that it is the 1st MOC 6801. It is strange, that there is no MOC of the set 6801, because it is a Mythical set! All "mythical" sets exist at least in X copies of MOC .... except this one. To tell you, the fact that no one has thought of making this legendary set by MOC, I am wondering about putting it on Lego Ideas. The Barracuda Bay, Mythical set, has been successfully validated in Lego Ideas. So why not, the 6801 Space Scooter ? I am not unhappy with the result :) I tried to stay in the spirit of 6801....but bigger. I really did a lot of custom and lots of little adds (with some rares parts, or half-rare parts) You can see it, in 3D model on : https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/design.page?idModel=153932- 18 replies

https://ideas.lego.com/projects/49ca9889-05fb-4887-ab3a-aad4add5237e Cultural link : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tenshu https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onna-bugeisha https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yumi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomoe_Gozen https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nakano_Takeko https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ono_(weapon) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ōtsuchi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oyumi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oni https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torii I love Ninjago and Japan. Thus was born this idea with historical consonance of medieval Japan, while being incorporable with Ninjago. I have been looking for a long time: to have a strong iconic and cultural medieval Japanese architecture, and to have a Ninjago aspect. The Soutou Tenshu ! In Japanese, a "Tenshu" is a multi-floor castle tower. A "Tenshukaku" is a Japanese castle. A "Soutou Tenshu" designates a particular architectural form, which is a smaller version of a Tenshukaku. There is no word in English or in Western culture for this type of construction. It’s not just a tower of a castle. It is a scaled-down reproduction of a main keep in a Japanese castle. In the West, this notion does not exist. To date, there are 12 original surviving Japanese castles. So few remain… The Soutou Tenshu are a cultural treasure in Japan; they are emblematic of its architectural sophistication, beauty and functionality. They are classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Soutou Tenshu - LEGO IDEA by Horlack, sur Flickr With my creation, I have not reproduced an existing Soutou Tenshu. I wanted an authentic representation of a Soutou Tenshu, but I also wanted to pay tribute to all the Soutou Tenshu which have disappeared over history. That is to say, I preserved the architectural spirit of the Soutou Tenshu, while allowing myself the freedom of imagination to incorporate playability into its construction for a child. The toy aspect of this for a child is just as important to me as its cultural fidelity to Japan. I have devoted myself to researching and uncovering ancient and long-forgotten aspects of Japanese culture. Whether just forgotten by time or lost in the writings of European historians who “westernized” the Orient too much. Modern history books have erased certain historical facts about Japan which did not agree with their vision of the western (often masculine) world, sometimes so much so that we forget about the Japanese themselves ! For example, today we know that Samurai often had katanas, an iconic and mythical Japanese sword. But we forget that many samurai did not have the financial means to buy such a prestigious weapon, which might cost them years, or even a lifetime, of salary. Likewise, we overlook the fact that there were more modest samurai who fought with axes, spears and bows. More importantly, we are unaware that there were samurai women, called Onna Bugeisha, who could make up 30% of an army. But modern Western feminism ignores the fact that the Japanese, 5 to 6 centuries before the Westerners, already had their feminism. No, feminism is not credited as a gift of our modern world. Thus, I intentionally incorporated into my Soutou Tenshu five powerful elements of ancient Japanese culture, forgotten and passed over in silence by Western reports. Personnagesi-01 by Horlack, sur Flickr 1 / A female samurai figurine with a Japanese longbow, named Daïkyu. Like the famous Samourai woman Tomoe Gozen, whose life gave birth to beautiful poems and tales. Woman of legend, with an extraordinary destiny, who commanded men. (Kimono based on figurine Ivy Walker - set 70620) 2 / A female samurai figurine with a long spear, named Nagamaki or Naginata. Like the famous woman Samourai Nakano Takeko, of the Aizu clan, who ordered up to 30% of samurai women equipped with this weapon, in her army. The length of the handle of the Nagamaki and Naginata, allowed women to keep an enemy at a distance, even if the opponent was stronger. The advantages of this weapon are a bit like the Greek phalanxes under Alexander. (based on Kimono Girl, Series 4) 3 / A male samurai figurine, with a large axe named a Masakari, and a small axe named an Ono. Representative of some samurai from low social class, such as farmers or monks (also named "samurai monk" or "warrior monk"); many of these men rose to the rank of samurai by their courage and loyalty to their lord. They often fought with weapons from their social class (like axes), because the Katana was inaccessible to them financially. (based on figurine Kendo Fighter, Series 15 & Samurai Warrior, Series 3 & Samurai, Series 13) 4 / A male samurai figurine, with a large mallet made entirely of hard wood known as an Otsuchi. This weapon was used by samurai from low social class. It was also effective for breaking down castle doors. Despite its heavy and rudimentary appearance, it was a formidable weapon to crush the leather and metal armor of enemy samurai (based on figurine Kendo Fighter, Series 15 & Samurai Warrior, Series 3 & Samurai, Series 13) 5 / The ōyumi, a defensive ballista. The ōyumi was a complicated type of giant crossbow, although historians are unsure of its appearance, as there are no real examples or illustrations known. Only five medieval texts refer to it. Historians agree that this weapon did exist, but it is one of the forgotten weapons of Japan’s past, and its details have been lost in history. The construction of Soutou Tenshu, with a certain free interpretation to be compatible with the gameplay: Ground floor : -Door with stylized Oni face -Stylized portal (or Torii), with emblem of Japan (wink) -Forge / blacksmith -Well water -Water and sake reserve (wink) -Prison / warehouse room -Ōyumi ballist -Various weapons. -Sakura Cherry blossom tree (emblematic tree of Japan) First floor : -Kitchen -Dining room / refectory -Weapons room / training room Second floor : -Bedroom Base : Folding base with 3 basic hinges (pivots) on the outsides, and a triple system of internal hinges per pivot, to stabilize and strengthen the base, with part number 19954 Hinge plate 1x2. When the base is closed, the stability and structural integrity is increased by the triple internal hinge system, and also by the 4 train magnets hidden in the walls of the ground floor. . Play functions : Everything is playable and functional. You can open the Tenshu by the hinges of the base, or by lifting the building floors like the LEGO Modular sets. Everything is accessible both horizontally and vertically. Working : Make with LEGO Digital Designer and Studio (Bricklink). There are 2987 bricks without minifigurines. The project required around three weeks of working and 72 hours of 3D rendering (calculation). If you love Japan, or your kids love Lego Ninjago, then support me ! thanks you very much.
