MOC: Cafe corner Amsterdam style
Captain Green Hair replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in LEGO Town
Thank you for the compliments! The walls are indeed about 10 bricks high, + 1 plate to be exact. I'm not sure which arches you mean? I've used all regular arches and put the windows behind them. If you mean the awnings, you can attach plates to arches that way as they are open on in the inside and can hold a stud. Hope that helps! -
Wow, that is one beautiful castle! Did you manage to motorize the portcullis and drawbridge? I'd love to see a video.

As some of you might remember I'm making a hopeless attempt a remote controlled Tiger Tank. I'm now wondering if the new L motors are more suitable then the XL motors, as they tend to destroy everything? Do they have enough torque to drive this heavy machinery? Hope you guys can point me in the right direction, thanks!

This is coming together nicely! I se the yellow line is not evenly high everywhere and it is a bit too sraight, you can see this on your ship plans. I'd suggest making the yellow line evenly high everywhere asnd make it slightly curved. Good luck on the build!

CMF for me, just because he's yellow.

I love the fact that these cars sometimes look so deceptively simple and small! I also love spending a sunday afternoon, puzzling one together. You are truly becoming a master at this, especially the pink convertible looks sweeheet! Are you using the milky white tires for the whitewalls?
-
No you can alternate jumpers and tiles, just make sure they're even spread. I used to do this when I had few parts. Those hinges will work as well, so good luck!

Ship-of-the-Line Under Construction
Captain Green Hair replied to Dread Pirate Wesley's topic in Pirate MOCs
You've certainly made a wonderful looking and beautifully detailed ship! I do have some points for improvement. First you have made the guns a bit close to the water, there should be a bit more space under it in black. Secondly I think you have made the back too high, lowering it 2 to 3 bricks would look more accurate IMO. Here's a picture that should explain this: Note that these are merely my point of view, your ship is really beautiful and since it is functional, I suppose that some choices had to be made in heights etc. -

Did you bother to read the thread? I will continue work next year, then I'll have space to do so again. -

MOC: Cafe corner Amsterdam style
Captain Green Hair replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in LEGO Town
Thank you for all the nice comments! Don't argue, it is! Amsterdam has been a melting place of many cultures from many countries for ages. Especially in summer you see a lot of different license plates. So perhaps I should put a german one in too. -
Thanks, you sort of can see it in the canal here.

Nice little ship with a refreshing colour scheme, it almost looks like a holiday fun ship for pirates! May I suggest using medium blue or white 1x2 windows in the stern? The red ones seem a bit off imo.

FABULAND Builders Guild: Firuz Fox
Captain Green Hair replied to Hinckley's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Very nice, it really has that dark and mysterious feel to it! You've used some very nice techniques and a smart usage of parts like the grinding thingy. I wonder how you've attached the Fabuland roof plates though, or do they just stay put? -
REVIEW: 21012 Sydney Opera House
Captain Green Hair replied to Siegfried's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Brilliant review, I've never seen the Sydney opera house up that close, let alone an Ozzie girl! Thank you for taking the time and skin burn to show us the comparison! -

Thank you for all the kind words guys! Don't step on it! I still live in it. Finding reference material has never been so easy! -
I saw this on Brickshelf as a WIP, and already thought it was great.... But it's even better then great, it is awesome and inspiring! My favourite detail has to be the little round windows in the roof of the small buildings. I know it is hard to photograph these large models, but would it be possible to get some better, sharp images? These pictures really don't do your model justice IMHO.

B-OV-38A Hello Eurobrickers, Since it is the most beautiful city in the world, I of course have to make an Amsterdam styled neighbourhood in my future Greenville layout. So I've started with the first corner building: It is loosely based upon this building in ''de nieuwe doelenstraat'', fun fact is that this building has been made in Legoland Billund as well. (Ignore the German car ) On the ground floor it houses a cafe, with apartments above it. On the right you see the stairs to the entrance of those: The interior of the cafe looks like this: The building doesn't have back walls, as it will use those of the neighbours, but this is what the back looks like: As you can see I have installed lights, so at night you can look through the window: And on the inside it looks like this, not the lit up bottles behind the bar: Of course the cafe needs some neighbours, so next to it is the Butcher: And here's the building by itself. This is a rather generic building, not really based on anything special: Nothing special in the back yet, I'll ad gardens and such later on: Again I've made a SNOT ceiling with some lights in it: They just slide out, making access rather easy: And here's the interior, you can see father and son ''Beenhouwer'' working hard to make an honest living: They are open until late hours, as people come by at the strangest hours these days: Well, once my whole Amsterdam section is done, it should look something like this (the trees are experimental models): And by night this scene looks like this: A few more detailed pictures can be found in my Flickr. Thank you for watching, I hope you like it!
