  1. Not many MOCs with 8880 wheels, still the best CV joints Lego have made. Nice modelling!
  2. It was exactly that. I also think that because those parts are connected via the next hole of the turntable, they allow some slack in the original configuration. Ps. I'll quit editing posts if you will ? Did anyone consider large ball joints for the front arms? It looks like it'd be easy to fit them in the existing space, but I don't have any and am reluctant to order them in case they don't fit the gap. @Didumos69 it might not be your style because it seems you have to sand the balls a little to make them move easy?
  3. I originally put it back together with the wheels in stock configuration and woke up one morning realising they could now go the other way - funny what happens when you stare at things too long late in the evening. The final configuration is as follows. The pulley wheel is removed, it's redundant now the wheel is reversed (this would maybe better stabilise the drive axle if using the universal joint too) I'm not certain having those 3L pins partly-inserted in the wheel rim is legal, but I can say it gives a better connection between the wheel and the hub to have pins in the pin holes of the wheel, than axles in the pin holes. I found before the model would make various creaking noises as the wheel shifted about on the hub, and now it doesn't. There is half a stud of the 3L pin sticking out which helps stabilise the bracing bar. The bracing bar now only really has the job of stopping the wheel from popping off, it's not really needed as part of the rotation any more. Again, all my findings should be considered that the turntables and tyres are original Lego, but much of the rest is from CaDA bricks not Lego.
  4. Licensing hasn't been a bad thing, look at the Arocs and Unimog. I think the problem has been a tendency to ever-bigger cars, without much more going on inside them. I don't need 8-speed gearboxes that don't even work like a real gearbox.
  5. The land rover wasn't stolen from Lego, at least not directly. It was a long wheelbase one from the mods thread. I don't know what you're talking about with the digital designer stuff. You can make very professional renders in stud.io, given enough time and graphics card I'm pretty sure it could do what we're looking at. Average looking? Well it's just your opinion. I just built 42096 and there's parts on there which are far from impressive.
  6. Just my opinion... opening doors would be less Didumos, because body rigidty has to take a hit for that. Also, the big one doesn't have opening doors, and I don't think an original dune buggy would have that either. Only thing I'd wish for would be the steering wheel on the roof, but I can see from the exploded drawings it's not possible.
  7. A whole lot of MOCers use digital designer. Even if they don't, MK has proven itself more than happy to steal models and create digital models from them.
  8. +1 The last two things I built were Didumos's greyhound, and the Porsche 42096. There's just no comparison. My 42099 is built as Rocky - it won't be going back to the original model any time soon.
  9. Well done! Could you post a video how the functions work?
  10. It's true there's a lot of focus on panelling. I'm not a big fan of that either. I am currently building 42096 and really it's just a big empty shell with "ok-ish" steering and suspension and the same V6 engine they've used for 30 odd years, even if they tipped the cylinder at 180°. I'm not excited by it, and only even bought it because it was available on sale and there are some nice looking MOCs. The next step for vehicles ought to be realistic suspension. The formula one cars had proper pushrods, but other than that I don't think TLG ever bothered with caster angle, much less kingpin inclination.
  11. It has all the same features, plus some more like adjustable ride height, but it's in a smaller package. It looks more like a real car in its lines. I haven't built it myself but I'll bet it's more sturdy. How is it worse?
  12. Like it. Mix of both solutions - steering solution from @1980SomethingSpaceGuy and extending/offsetting the rack from me. Not sure how I jumped from extending the blue beam and missed that it would let that solution work without getting into (a loosely pinned on) rack and pinion or over complex Pittman linkage. It's a nice community, this :)
  13. I have some of these motors with the orange plastic cover. They only do left/right/centre, but at least they centre properly unlike a lot of Chinese copy servos. I'd guess the L motor will power functions like opening doors, the 2x XL's for drive. It won't be fast, but it'll move itself.
  14. In Chinese: What's that ? It'll be very interesting once the first person gets both to compare.
  15. See MOC 8880 evolution. It's still perfectly possible to create abstract supercars, but why when you now have 'a better graphics card'? Will you also go back to base 4 studded building where you can't have a central line?
  16. It's not really relevant if Lego Porsche rims fit Lego Bugatti hubs, because these could just as well be an own design of Bugatti rims with Porsche spoke pattern. If it comes from a moc I don't believe it's a published one. It's going to ship in June. I'd be confident they have something of a prototype in hand already.
  17. Is it perhaps a bit system brick heavy for the challenge?
  18. Awesome, the suspension flows just like the big brother!
  19. What do you mean fake? You didn't read the post, you just looked at the picture. It's not meant to be an image of the Lego Lamborghini, it's MouldKing's "Lanbogini" or some such nonsense. Also, colour is irrelevant. L*'s Porsche was white, doesn't mean it wasn't a copy. The question is more where did those panels on the fenders come from: have they pre-information from somewhere inside TLG, or are they a MouldKing own design? Of course purists won't want these fenders but I wonder if, if they're not equivalent to TLG panels, any MOCers would use them?
  20. Of course it's not authorized by Lamborghini, goes without saying. But they have named the designer of this set as L-H-L. They only do that when the MOCer has accepted payment (of course otherwise they carry on regardless). Those fender panels don't exist (yet?!) In TLG. So as you say, the question is has MouldKing invented a new panel (doubt it) or have they somehow got a spy in Denmark (or the Chinese factory where they make bricks now!)? Or if not, who is LHL and where did he get the idea of new panels? I don't believe it's a direct copy of TLG Lamborghini, if only because the mirrors on this are better than the silhouette teaser suggests TLG has managed!
  21. Maybe it could be engine swapped to a hayabusa motor in the boot. Would simplify things a fair bit!
  22. Looks great, and that drivetrain is cool too!
  23. Does it fit the width requirement? Engine cover looks wide, or are the wheels half a stud tucked inside?
  24. Outstanding model. I love a nippy Lego RC, and that certainly is one! Looking forward to building it.
