I would imagine since not every room was seen in the movies, that you could draw from your imagination or books as much as you want. That's just my guess though. Have fun building.

That is ridiculous! I came in to CMFs at the end of series 4, so I missed out on all of those. I do have 5 elves though, all through Bricklink or ebay. I don't plan on buying any more since Lord of the Rings will have elves in them. That is an awesome find though. A huge Elf army will be a sight to see!

Monster Fighters 2012
TheLegoDr replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I agree with Aanchir on the brick built vs mold debate. I don't think I can state it any better. I feel there is a place for either, depending on the situation/set/theme. It is similar to "fleshies" vs standard yellow. I love how both look, but not at the same time. I missed out on the fantasy era, so I don't have any of those dragons, but I don't particularly care for their static poses at times. I don't mind the mix of the two ideas with the Ninjago dragons, but I'd want to customize them more (having the brick built feature allows me and others to do just that), but I can at least pose them slightly more if wanted. But then we get Stormbringer and their beautiful brick built dragon that looks highly poseable. I am excited to try building something similar to that design. So I can see both sides of the argument there, but I'd say brick built allows us to use our imaginations more. But I also agree sometimes molds are definitely better for the set. But I'd prefer a molded Griffin also. I'm not too familiar with many monster type movies, other than the sets already described, so I don't know how many larger monsters we would get. We might not have to worry about any brick built vs molded in this theme. With that said, I don't know how many waves it would really last, unless they did different locations with the same monsters for the second wave. I can't wait for HR photos! -
This is awesome. I've enjoyed seeing all of the Winter Village MOCs, but this one is towards the top for me. Must be because I grew up in a rural area, so this is what I am used to seeing. A barn with sleigh rides and hay and snow hills so kids can go sledding. Brilliantly done, by the way. I don't have to guess at all what this MOC includes. Good luck in the contest!

Beautiful MOC indeed. I agree with everyone, this thing is amazing. All the details make for a very realistic rendition. Brilliantly photographed as well. Keep up the good work. meyerc13 I've never heard of a TowPlow. I googled it..that is intense. I'm glad we don't get such harsh winters here.

Minifigures Series 8 Guessing Game
TheLegoDr replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I wouldn't worry about it. Wait and let the Mods decide if it should remain open or closed. I like the idea. I think it would be fun and get the ball rolling on what we hope or predict could happen. -
I've never seen this before, but I am digging that hat. But I wouldn't want to pay those aftermarket prices for it. Great job to EB members that could help out a fellow FOL. That's awesome that someone could get their mystery solved after this long of time.

Welcome to EB. This is a great Lego site. It seems like you really enjoy Space themed sets. There is a great sci-fi forum here for you to enjoy. That's the problem with lack of time/space/money. Never enough lego!

Minifigures Series 8 Guessing Game
TheLegoDr replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I would assume deletion due to it all being speculation with no evidence. Although, I find this to be a fun idea. I will have to think of some good ones to post, if this is still open later today. If any of Itaria No Shintaku come true, I would be a happy camper for sure! Bowler...awesome! And Medusa, brilliant! -
Welcome to EB. This is a great site for Lego. The Modulars are pretty neat. I only recently got into them (having missed the good sets), but you live and learn (and lose). I may try to build them from bricklink instead. Have fun!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
In Lincoln, NE there is no sign of series 6 anywhere. A few places have a HUGE overflow of series 5 still, so it makes me wonder if they will order any (or a lot less) of series 6 if 5 didn't sell as well as they expected. The TRU here stated they never know what is on their shipment, but he didn't expect to see them anytime soon. Plus, they were at 3.49 instead of 2.99, so I won't be buying them from there anyway. We keep checking almost daily. I'm actually a little burned out on the idea and may not buy any, or as many as originally intended. -
Welcome to EB. This is a great site for anything/everything Lego. I don't know what is a worse feeling, losing a significant other (at least at the time) or losing all that precious Lego! Either way, sorry for your loss. Hope you have fun rebuilding your collection. Once you start buying and building, you get hooked pretty quickly!

Welcome to EB. This is a great site for everything Lego. How is NZ? I've always wanted to visit. Have fun!

Well, it's good that you officially signed up. Now you can post to your heart's content. There are many awesome MOCs here, so that will be of more use that you can comment and get straight tips from people. I missed a ton during my dark ages also, but you move on and rebuild as necessary. Good luck in your space/time/money dilemmas.

Hello and welcome to EB. This is a great site for everything Lego. They do have a great train forum, so check that out. Have fun building!

Great little (or do I say big) build you have here. I love Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley. I always enjoy seeing builds from there. This definitely captures the essence of what Hogsmeade is all about. I hope to see more in the future. And I hope to build some of my own. I like the trapdoor and the windows. Keep it up!

Basically all the builds are taken already. I guess I should log in more often. 7. D.A.D.A Classroom please Slytherin here. The scale of some of these rooms might be difficult to squeeze everything in. I can't wait to see everyone's builds.

Well those additions seem interesting. I was also expecting Thor with Loki, but I'll take any of them. As long as I get them all. And Hawkeye is my all-time favorite Avenger, so I am pumped to have him in Lego form. I wouldn't expect Magneto and Deadpool together, but I don't know much about their origins. I am excited to see these characters though. And to get 3 in each set at that price point (I'm referring to the Barnes and Noble prices), I am quite happy about that. It states B&N will have them 5/1/12, so not much longer now!

Very clever design. I have only seen that part of that film, so I only barely understand the context. I thought the new Black Falcon helm was black? Keep up the good work.

Having missed the entire Fantasy line and coming back into lego halfway through Kingdoms, this is a tough call other than pictures. I have since purchased all of the Kingdoms sets, but there are quite a few Fantasy sets I would like to have (but I won't be paying aftermarket prices for any of them). 1. 5615 The Knight. Just like everyone else has said, it is a great army builder! As mentioned, I don't have any, but if I would have been doing Fantasy, I would have bought many multiples of this (probably why I have multiples of the archer for Kingdoms...hey isn't that the competition here!) 2. 7090 Crossbow Attack. Simply because you get more figures, plus an undead horse which I could have used for thestrals in HP! But I have multiples of the Kingdoms version. 3. 7948 Outpost Attack. I like the design and colors of the tower better. And I like the siege weapon better than a giant ram. Although, the ram would come in handy. 4. 7188 King's Carriage Ambush. This is a beautiful carriage with great colors. Plus, some much needed tree parts. The price was high, but that didn't prevent multiples on clearance (at a much better price point). 5. 7947 Prison Tower Rescue. Having never seen the Fantasy version, I actually quite like it. But I like the color scheme and build of the Kingdoms version better. I did miss out on those dragons though, unfortunately. 6. 7946 King's Castle. I just finished building it today and it is a very nice structure when you're done. It looks more complete than the Castle Siege set. 7. 10193 Medieval Market Village. Having just built the MMV, I can say I really like it. I like the looks of the Joust set, but MMV does bring about new buildings and a new wave of civilization outside of the king's court. 8. 7952 Kingdoms Advent Calendar. I am choosing this one because it is the only one I have. You did get a good assortment either way, but you get a queen and a prince in this set. That helps beef up the royal family. And a "good" wizard to combat the dragon one. 9. 7189 Mill Village Raid. The fantasy ship was beautiful. I've never seen that before. I really would like to get one/build one sometime now! But MVR has a beautiful barn with some wonderful figures. I had a fun time building that. Plus, the new animal molds and a new horse print seals the deal for me! Fantasy Era 3. Kingdoms 6. Wow I did not expect that big of a difference between the two. Some of the Fantasy sets weren't included, and of the ones included some were quite brilliant. But I had to choose Kingdoms due to being able to actually see it in person AND I like the design a lot better on those sets. Too bad, Kingdoms didn't have another wave to flesh out some more sets. Oh well, let's see a Fantasy II happen (outside of LOTR). Probably won't, but oh well.

Great little MOC. I love the field! If there was only the field in that MOC and nothing else, I'd still love it. Brilliant work. Keep it up!

Very clever build. It looks very protective! Keep up the good work.

Review: 10193 Medieval Market Village
TheLegoDr replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I just finished building the King's Castle last night, and even though it was repetitive, I actually liked the outcome and the build. Especially the portcullis gate area. Very clever use of pieces, but unsightly way to lift the drawbridge. As far as MMV goes. B-E-A-utiful set. I built that a few weeks ago. I really like the outcome there. Of course, as simple as the tree is, I love that the most. But the two buildings are beautiful. Not sure how realistic the medium blue building is in color, but the design is great. -
I agree, seeing the set built puts the box art to shame (which was also quite lovely). So I can't wait to get this one. I like the idea of an elevator. I'm not upset with how they designed it. I think it will work quite well and it will be at the rear so I'll never notice it. Granted, I'll probably never "play" with it either, so it almost serves no purpose being there. I've never needed stairs since my hand controls where the person goes, but it's nice to have some reality to it. I was building a hotel in LDD a few years ago and was designing an elevator to go in there, but then my computer crashed and I lost everything. But initially I thought, why not use a winch and string. That pulley system seems to make the most sense logically. But then last night I built the King's Castle and it is a very clever use of pieces for the portcullis to make that rise and fall, all the while staying on a certain peg at each interval. Meaning, it would be quite easy to have it stay on each floor as needed. Sure, it would be a shaky ride for the minifigs, but it would get the job done and you could probably hide the knob to turn it somewhere easier than a lever that you push with your thumb. Either way, I am excited for an elevator. I am excited for this set. I can't wait to see how it looks in my historic district, if I ever build a city street.
