  1. I am currently trying to fill in the gaps that are left by This arch. I have windows underneath up to where the bottom of the brick starts. As in, if you removed the arched brick, the top of the windows and the walls on either side would be level. I don't know how to fill in the rest to make it appear like it is part of the series of windows underneath it. I tried using short fence and tall fence to continue with the lattice look, but it just doesn't look right. Plus, even if the lattice did look okay, there would still be gaping holes under the arch on the sides. I'm sure some gap will be inevitable, so I'm not worried about that. But I don't quite see how I can make the top curved part connected to the rest of the windows. I could leave it open and pretend it is "a glass pane," but that seems like a cop out and not necessarily pleasing to the eye. Any tips would be most appreciated! I can try to post photos later if my description isn't clear.
  2. That is a very smart idea. I should set up a budget. As expensive as this year could be, I don't have to backtrack and pick a lot of older sets like I did last year, so this year could be significantly less expensive. But setting a budget and sticking to it would guarantee a more sensible year. But if people set up budgets, Lego might go out of business since no one would overextend themselves getting these awesome sets!
  3. Great review of another Friends set. I would expect more in this set, but I guess to collect them all, you have to get it. I don't own any of them yet, but some of the new colors are really neat. The animals are nice, but a little too playful for my regular minifigures. Keep up the good reviews.
  4. Umbridge's office was supposed to be overwhelming. McGonagall's office would be understated/underspoken, but powerful, much like herself. There are a lot of little details here that work quite well. I really enjoy the fireplace and the chairs. The birdpost is quite lovely as well. I haven't thought much about how I'd picture her office, but this is giving me a good idea of what I'd expect. Brilliant work. Keep it up. I can't wait to see more.
  5. It certainly looks like the hair goes over the quiver, but under the bow. So I would assume the hair is sculpted to fit over the quiver, and then there is a clip on the quiver to the left/right of the hair that clips on and goes over the back of the hair, so the hair fits right in the middle. That way, it can work with or without the bow mold. But you may need to use the hair and the quiver together every time. And I didn't see anything wrong with the way his eyes are set up as is. I with the widow's peak in the front causes some of the forehead to be lost. Plus, I would picture an elf to have a slightly longer face/bone structure. I think the eyes lowered makes his face look too squished and rather weird.
  6. Those are incredibly detailed and look amazing. You did such a great job on all of the builds. Each one individually is brilliant, but seeing all of them together is overwhelming. I recall seeing that police station before and was considering doing a corner building like that, but with a fountain out front in the courtyard. I just need to come up with an idea of how the building should look. All of these are incredible and I will check back often just to stare at them. I can't wait to see more. Keep up the good work.
  7. Neat picture. I like seeing longer hair with the elf ears (even if it is fleshie). I can't wait to see more!
  8. I'm hoping there are Dark Knight Rises sets. I am waiting for those instead of buying the current Batman sets since I am not too impressed with them. It'd be awesome if they released a version of the new "The Bat," a.k.a. the new batwing. And I am excited to see pictures of Marvel sets. This year will either be really expensive, or lots of Bricklink orders. At the end of 2011 I was thinking it will be expensive, but I have yet to spend any money on Lego.
  9. Very highly detailed. I didn't expect anything less. The pink is overwhelming, right with Umbridge's style. The fireplace works well for the floo network. The latter scenes are very comical and I would expect that to suit her style as well.. I wouldn't even begin to know how you did that wand. It works better for the scale, but it might be difficult to mass produce for everyone to use something similar. This is a very exceptional build. Keep up the good work. It will be a tough act to follow with the rest of Hogwarts.
  10. This is a good start. I'm not super familiar with this type of architecture, but maybe break it up a little with other colors. Even just the window frames so they don't blend in as much?? I really don't know. Keep up the good work!
  11. Welcome to EB. This is a great site for all things Lego. The modulars are a great addition the world of Lego. I never got into them until recently with the Fire Brigade (since that will be leaving us soon enough). I missed out on the first few, which I would like to have, but I don't regret it enough to pay those costs. Have fun with the hobby. Good luck on finding them at a good price.
  12. Welcome to EB. This is a great Lego site. The MMV and MVR are both fun builds with lots of neat features. I built both of them recently. I also built the King's Castle recently and enjoyed that too. Castle is my favorite theme for sure (other than Harry Potter). Have fun with the hobby!
  13. Welcome to EB. This is a great site! Castle is the best. Have fun MOCing! Lord of the Rings may bring some new weapons and figures, so that may help with some MOCs.
  14. Welcome to EB. This is a great lego site! Have fun with the hobby.
  15. Welcome to EB. This is a great site for everything Lego. Your collection sounds impressive. I collected the bulk of my Legos when I was around that same age. So my collection consists of many sets from the late 80s/early 90s. Have fun collecting!
  16. Welcome to EB. This is a great Lego site with many tips. There are great subforums to help out with any information you may need. Good luck on your test!
  17. Welcome to EB. This is a great site for everything Lego. Have fun coming out of the dark ages. It is quite a world out there when you get back into the hobby.
  18. That is brilliant! I would never have guessed to use some of those pieces in that way. I am amazed.
  19. I really like the top of the outpost tower. The trees are really well done too. They add some size for sure. The action poses really help set the scene. Keep up the good builds.
  20. I like the hatches with the slopes and cheese slopes. It looks really good. Keep up the good builds.
  21. Very clever. I want to build a tumbler sometime, but who knows when I'll have time to design it. Keep up the good builds!
  22. Thanks for the great/thorough review. I am normally not into city sets (not since the early 90s) and have only been buying castle/pirate/harry potter themed sets the last few years. But when I saw that camper, I had to get it. I don't like camping, but I had to have that set. I also loved the Vacation Camper from 1988. So seeing this new city set, I just have to get it! The review didn't sway me either way since I was already planning on getting it, but seeing some extra details did not hurt one bit. I really like the color scheme (probably since I don't have anything in yellow really). I am excited for some of these new vehicles, which is so unlike me. Keep up the good reviews!
  23. I really wish I didn't miss out on Orient Expedition. I would love a new theme similar to that idea. And new animal molds would be great. The more the merrier. They should just release a lego zoo and be done with it hehe.
  24. This is amazing. This doesn't even look Lego. Brilliant work with all of those details. Keep up the good work.
  25. TMNT was popular 20 years ago and had action figures. If it regained popularity, they would probably re-release action figures and the like for their series, much like what G.I. Joe has done since the release of the new movies. I would love to see lego renditions of either/both of those series, but I wouldn't imagine it happening since they have other successful alternative options. And the James Cameron Avatar does seem plausible since it was the highest grossing film and has sequels planned. Lego could get in on that for sure. I didn't care much for the movie, but it'd be neat seeing all these little blue people walking around. I would actually buy those sets, even though I didn't care for the movie. Just think of the people that loved the movie. Lego could rake it in!
