So basically we will have multiples of almost every Marvel hero if we buy all the sets. Interesting.. I really hope they have Loki's helmet!!! I would buy multiples of that for sure. And I am excited to see Hawkeye in Lego form. He was always my favorite Avenger. In fact, that was my code name when we would play random role playing games as children.

Review: 9566 Samaurai X
TheLegoDr replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
For some reason I am liking these new figures, this one in particular. The printing looks fabulous, plus the helmet! Thanks for the review. -
Thanks for the review. For some reason I am liking these new Ninjago figures. I don't care for any of the sets and do not plan on spinning in the future. This looks like a good figure and piece pack, if equipping an army for other purposes. Keep up the reviews. We'll keep reading them.

How much did you spend on Lego in 2011?
TheLegoDr replied to Legacy Man's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Our trunk looked like that also after Christmas clearance! Although, no Ninjago, mostly Kingdoms and a few stragglers from other themes. Andy D I like your motto. I will incorporate it as my own. Although, I need to spend some on pieces to build certain MOCs I've been thinking about lately. Haha, it never ends! lightningtiger I like how you start listing your sets, then it continues and continues, like, this is all I purchased, oh yeah and this and this. I know the feeling all too well! As far as how much I spent, this last year... I haven't added it up, thankfully! I was estimating around $500, but my wife said it was closer to $2000-3000. So maybe I just want her to believe it is only $500 haha. She seems to be open with it since she came up with a higher number, or maybe she is actually keeping track. It really does add up with all these great sets/themes. Thankfully I'm sticking with the few themes I was interested in as a kid (castle and pirates), so I have a lot of overlap and can MOC to my heart's content. And now they have Harry Potter and those Super Heroes that I will need to pick up. I'm just thankful I'm not into Star Wars, that would get out of hand fast! I can understand why they have their own theme on EB. -
I think the scale is too big, not just the coloring. I saw someone do a customized version and they printed the helmet on a headpiece and it looked as close to perfection as possible. The Iron Man armor is sleek, so I'd want the Lego counterpart to be sleek as well, thus, not out of scale. Oh well, I still can't wait to see the Marvel picture release!

The Lego Dragon Knights Sets 1993-1995
TheLegoDr replied to SirSven7's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Classic castle being my favorite theme, this is yet another great read. I love reading the backstory and history of every faction Lego gave us. Black Knights are my favorite, and these guys are a close second. Or wait, Black Falcons are high on the list..and Forestmen.. OMGosh, and those Crusaders.... too many to choose heh But I do love the Dragon aspect of these and the Black Knights. Yes, it was a little lazy to recolor an existing shield, but it helps people like me who want to combine armies. I have Black Knights and Dragon Knights together, just as different ranks mostly. The green and the blue don't go super well together, but you can make it work. I stick with the original Black Knight shield, but also use the new helm and horse armor. Looking at the sets, I could swear I had more of them, but when my mom gave me my sets this last summer, I didn't have any, but the wizard's workshop. So I don't know, unless they are hidden in another box somewhere. I need to get to collecting some of those sets though. Thanks for another great read. I will read it again and again. I can't wait to read more. And maybe sometime I'll get around to posting my armies. -
General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread

Be careful with that. She might make you keep your word when she is older and then you'll be out a ship that will be costly on the aftermarket... better buy another one to be safe -
Brilliant portrait! Congrats on being engaged.

I don't want to see that outside my castle. My walls would crumble just at the sight of it. Keep up the good work!

I don't know anything about that part of history, but your MOC is very impressive. Keep up the great builds!

I love the bridge, but I like the building the most! I was planning on doing walls with the 1x1 round tubes with an assortment of other bricks, almost exactly like this. Thank you for visually showing me what my mind was trying to put together. I love the texture of it all. The roof looks very unique as well. Great color scheme. I've only read the story off and on, but I love seeing the builds! Keep it up and can't wait for more!

So I just came back from a 15 year absence/dark age and...
TheLegoDr replied to ihira's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
ihira That is an impressive collection for sure! I haven't seen that many castles next to each other before. Very neat to see. Black Knight's Castle is my favorite of all time. But I don't have the majority of those sets either. I love the Black Knights though. Keep up the great collection. I can't wait to see updates with the remaining sets. DaleDVM $15,000 in one year on Lego???? My first year (this last year) out of my dark ages, I probably only spent close to $500 and I thought I was going over the top with the obsession. Have fun collecting everyone. -
Very clever build! I really like the archway and the bridge. That detailing is superb. The rock is, of course, brilliant, but since everyone else commented on that, I thought I would comment on something else. The house is very period perfect with just the right amount of disruption. Keep up the great builds!

Good little review. Although, a bit short compared to some. I would agree that an overview at the end would help rate this among other similar sets. I don't have any from this theme, so this is neat indeed. The figure printing could be used for various armies actually, so that helps out a lot. And, I would go so far to say that most themes don't have enough shields. Keep up the reviews.

Nice little MOC. It has some nice detailing with the foliage on top. Those pesky Wolfpack members. Keep up the good work.

I've been trying to come up with ways to do a proper brick built dragon instead of using the Ninjago dragons or heads. Overall, I like this build. Very clever. It shows a good shape overall. I would agree the wings are a bit small for this size, but there are only so many pre-fab wings one can use. The use of the dice is very unique. Keep up the good work.

Very clever build! I especially like the building. The different colored bricks really break up the stonework without causing it to look stale. To me, it adds enough dimension to it without going overboard with some of the texturized pieces. Smart use of pieces for the water also. Hopefully that boat won't hit that lone rock! Keep up the good builds!

Very clever build. I have no knowledge of Arabian themed places, but this would fit well in what my imagination would show me. That fountain is spectacular, and great tile work. I really liked the round studs to show depth of water. Keep up the good builds!

Side by side comparisons of the old and new Batman Minifigures?
TheLegoDr replied to B-Lister's topic in LEGO Licensed
That is really neat seeing the side by sides. I can honestly say I am thankful for missing out on 2006 wave since I much prefer the newer versions on everything! But the sets seemed better in 2006. Thanks for the link! -
Misprints and Other LEGO Production Oddities
TheLegoDr replied to Navy Trooper Fenson's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This is awesome! I wish I had a frowney face -
That ship can be pretty expensive. We ordered mine off of Amazon. I didn't see it in the Lego website for quite some time. I think they were having a sale on Amazon a while ago (like 30-40 dollars off), at least here in the states. I haven't looked at it in a while though. I just got it at Christmas, so I haven't built it yet. Good luck on your purchases

Can someone say ridiculous? This is amazing. Never would I imagine seeing something like this. Great work. I can't wait to see more. (Even if it doesn't move).

Thanks! No pictures yet, but it is good to see some US prices. I'm not sure how B&N's mark up is normally.

I have the Pearl, not the Bounty, so I can't attest to that build. But overall I liked the Pearl. I don't like the back and how it is set up. It feels dainty, especially compared to the other big Lego ships, but all in all a good ship. I like the looks of the Bounty, but I'd say go for the Pearl, if not only for the black hull and darker pieces. Until more sets come up with black hulled ships, it will remain unique in that regard. Plus, the figurehead is prettier on the Pearl. But I agree, buy both. And buy the Imperial Flagship. In a few years you'll be kicking yourself. Charge it if you have to!

I would say Nya for sure is one of the top minifigures. There is something wildly cool about a female ninja that can kick butt. Kill Bill anyone? I would say the painted horse from Mill Village Raid. While not a true minifigure, it is a new coloring that can be useful. Sure, it has blinders so it can basically only be used as a carriage horse, but there are a lot of MOCs/situations that would require a nice carriage. Anubis guard from PQ. Very stylish and unique headmold. Plus the coloring is very dark. Seso from PoP. We don't get a ton of other skin tones, so he was most welcome (I still don't have one yet). There is something oddly cool about this figure to me. I don't know why. He would work well with pirates or Castle. Neville Longbottom from HP. We definitely needed an updated version of him. He became much cooler and more confident in the last movie and the minifigure should portray that (and it does). These certainly aren't everyone's favorites and probably no one will like them like I do actually. But these are the ones that had a bigger impact on me for some reason. I can't wait to see some other suggestions.
