We just received this set from S@H for my wife and daughter, but have yet to build it. We actually ordered the whole line recently. My daughter is now obsessed with the Friends line. She is only 2, so below the recommended age, but she has loved my legos for over a year now, so this was a good transition. She really loves the animals and the bright colors. Thanks for the review! I can't wait to see it in person.

I would definitely add in another color, just for some more accenting. Overall, good design of the building. It just feels "blah" to me due to the monotonous coloring. And the stairway to heaven is neat. I call it that because surely people will fall to their death Keep up the good builds!

As great as a reissue would be for certain sets, I would prefer TLG to keep making new Modular buildings. Mostly because I started bricklinking Cafe Corner and have already spent money on pieces that I wouldn't use for anything else. I'd much rather waste my money on new sets from TLG . But what was stated in the brickset discussion, the overall building is "iconic" since it was the start of the Modular line, but the build itself isn't anything special compared to some of the newer sets they are producing. I still love the looks of the CC, but Fire Brigade and beyond is what really started it all for me. And yes, read the discussion post from Jamie. It helps clear things up a lot for the people who want a re-release.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 7 poll
TheLegoDr replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My inner nerd is wanting that Computer Programmer (if I have to choose just one). But I'm most excited for the Aztec warrior or the Bagpiper with the Shadow Knight closely behind. I will only army build the Shadow Knight so, it's odd I'm so excited for these other figures. So far, I would say this is my favorite series since I want the majority of the figures. Series 6 had me wanting a good chunk of them too. I only started collecting them when series 4 was on its last legs, so I missed out on a lot. I am not at all tired of seeing these figures and I hope to see many more in the future. But if I started with series 1, maybe I would be more tired. Let's hope TLG can come up with some more clever ideas and keep these series coming. It has to be a cash-cow for them. Please excuse the many boxes of series 5 at all the local stores that didn't sell well. I'm sure it is selling well elsewhere -
Last night we bought the 6914 Creator T-Rex 3 in 1 for me and Duplo Disney Princess sets 6151, 6152, 6153 for our daughter. Probably put those back for Christmas or her birthday, but we saw they were finally out so we picked them up. And our huge order from S@H shipped today, so we will be getting those around Wednesday. Very excited for that.

I agree. Those look awesome. I'd love to see one sitting out front of some part of my city. My brother in law has one. I almost want to take it off of his hands and restore it properly. Keep up the great work.

I really like the signage. The garage door is actually something I was thinking about tinkering with, but I see you've perfected it, so now I don't have to worry about it as much. I really like the old style brick work the building is made of. It looks exactly like a garage I would expect to see around here. Keep up the great work!

I love the front facade. I may have to "borrow" the lower level with the door way and canopies. That looks just like a downtown shop around here. The side does look a little awkward, but I think it would still look good as a corner building or having a park next to it so people can still see in, as opposed to putting another modular on that side. Keep up the great work. Very impressive.

I think that is just how the mold is. The Fire Brigade windows look like that too. I could really tell when I was looking at only the window panel, but once installed it was difficult to distinguish. Probably because of the background and the way the light reflects.

I just ordered a few pieces from Lego Direct and some looked damaged, even though they are straight from the factory in Denmark (they claimed). I have noticed a lot of issues with color variations still, in the new sets and the 2011 sets. I'm not sure what happened to Lego's quality control. A few sets I've purchased recently even had many missing parts. It is mind boggling. Hopefully they can get their act together or I may have to find a new hobby.

The_YongGrand I would say hold off on that set. It is really simple, but for the price and only two figures, I wouldn't say that is that good of a deal. Unless you absolutely need those specific colored pieces, I would recommend bricklinking the exact pieces you need. If you don't bricklink, I'm sure there is another police set out there that has valuable pieces. I haven't been watching the City sets this year. Mr. Elijah Timms I haven't really seen that 4205 before. That is a cool looking set. If it fits more into your "town plan," I would say go for that one. You do get more pieces and more figures in the other set, but not everyone would use those pieces the same way. I'm sure a lot of them will go to a half orange/purple truck that isn't realistic. I would almost say go for 4205. Canada_7 Again, like the above. You do get more pieces/figures with the Batman set, but it depends how much you are into Batman and the like. That helicopter definitely is heavy duty, so that is a plus. But the Batman set has a black Batman (the main reason I would even want the set). Unless you absolutely need some of those licensed figures, the City set might work better for your style of build/play.

Thanks to double VIP points, we made a HUGE order on Lego S@H. 10230 Mini Modulars 3065 Olivia's Tree House 3061 City Park Café 3188 Heartlake Vet 3315 Olivia's House 3932 Andrea's Stage 3933 Olivia's Invention Workshop 3934 Mia's Puppy House 10211 Grand Emporium My wife has been wanting to pick up the Friends sets for her and our daughter ever since they came out. I've only recently gotten into the modular style and micro building, so those will be fun builds for me. Not sure yet if we will order more to hold back for Christmas or not. We want to take advantage of double points! Now if only S@H would offer free shipping above a certain amount, we'd be all set.

New BrickWarriors Products - Feb 2012
TheLegoDr replied to Thrash's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I haven't seen Immortals or played Skyrim, but some of the new stuff does look cool. I don't know how the color scheme would work with some of my stuff, but I may have to look into buying some of these! Keep up the good work. -
That was my first Modular also. I got it this past Christmas. It was a really fun build. I was unfortunately missing multiple pieces, so I had to postpone my building until customer service sent those out to me (which was today!). So I finally finished. It looks amazing when finished. Next stop, tackling Cafe Corner via bricklink.

That is awesome. It looks just like I would picture it! Keep up the brilliant work.

That is exactly how a gas station should look. Brilliant work. Keep it up!

That is awesome. The detail is quite lovely. I really like the scene you put together. I also like the shields being displayed on the left side. Well done. Keep up the good work!

I loved the aquasharks back in the day. That set being one of my favorites. The micro version is a great rendition. I instantly could imagine the larger set in my mind. Well done!

The Penguin's Batman Minifigures. )
TheLegoDr replied to The Penguin's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I really like the Clark Kent and the Wonder Woman figures. The Pyg is spot on, although I've never heard of him before. The Bruce Wayne is a nice one too. Good work! Keep it up! -
The Burrow was my first Harry Potter and what brought me out of my Dark Ages. But you will be very happy with Diagon Alley. It is still my favorite set. I was just admiring it last night. I ordered it at 12:01 January 1st when it first became available! As far as me, the other day we finally finished our series 6. Who knew the Romans were so easy to find, but the Statue of Liberty would be the tough one! Too bad I wasn't an army builder, the Romans were just jumping off the shelf at me. I guess my part of the world likes the other figures more than the army building figures.

Whitecap Bay is a good parts pack. For that price I would totally pick up another. I found it locally on clearance for around $52 about a month after it came out. I think someone must have mis-marked it And London Escape was around $30. It was a good Lego day.

I read that it was going to be discontinued sometime last November (and seeing the length of time it was out at the time, it couldn't be too much longer before it got discontinued anyway), I casually mentioned it to my wife. Come birthday time in December and surprise, surprise the Fire Brigade! Oh, how I love her! I've only built part of it because of all the missing pieces it had (currently being shipped from Lego), so hopefully soon I will be able to finish it. I am definitely hooked on the Modulars now after trying to build this one. The size and detail are both amazing. I will definitely buy more in the future and plan on bricklinking the Cafe Corner and Green Grocer. If I didn't plan on buying these other modulars, I would probably pick up another Brigade for the wonderful parts. And unfortunately the TRU here doesn't carry any Modulars. In fact, their lego aisle is pretty dismal, plus their mark-up on so many sets. I would take advantage if TRU.com has them in stock during their sale.

Nice build. Very classic scene. I like the tree too, although I suppose it could have a bushier top? Either way, looks great! Keep up the good work.

I think the novelty must have worn off for me since the initial release and discussion. I am just not that excited for any of the superhero sets and I LOVE superhero related genres. Batman is the best, but the new sets were too meh for me so I only purchased the Funhouse, even though I would want the figures. Those prices are just ridiculous for iffy sets. As far as Marvel goes, again, it's cool seeing some of the figures, but I am not that amazed by the sets. I guess that is the point of Licensed Lego though. I was excited at first about seeing Loki's helmet, but now that we get multiple Lokis, it isn't as exciting. Not that I would only want that helmet in the largest/priciest set, but I definitely don't need multiple Loki, Iron Man or Thor. Hopefully the later sets will spark a new interest in me. I will definitely buy more X-Men related sets if they ever come out with the other figures (here's hoping for a correctly done Gambit). We'll see. Maybe I'll feel differently when I hold the box in my hands.

1. Are you male or female? Male 2. How old are you? just turned 28 not long ago 3. How old were you when you got your first Lego set and what was it? I would assume less than age 5 since I have soooo many of the mid-late 80's sets. 4. What is your favourite theme (past or present) and why? I was always in love with Castle and Pirates growing up. Then the Dark Ages happened and when I returned I came back to the new Castle and Pirates. But now Harry Potter is also an option in the mix. 5. Why do you like Lego? It allows creativity and imagination and you have something to show for it when you are done. I continue to like it because I loved it so much as a kid. I like having that feeling again.
