  1. There are too many great options there. I chose Diagon Alley because I am a huge Potter-head and it was great seeing some of those buildings in lego form. But it was difficult to make that choice since MMV was a fun build. The modulars are amazing. The Eiffel Tower looks sweet. The IFS has yet to be built for me, but I am super excited to do so. I just hope Lego (and they will) continue to keep busting out these great D2C sets for us fans. Granted, the expense can be a bit difficult to manage at times. But they look so amazing.
  2. I just started looking into this set via bricklink after going through my own supply. I was also surprised having a good amount of the pieces already just from regular sets that I didn't plan on building. I just got back into lego after a 15 year hiatus, so I missed out on random sets for the newer colors. But Bricklink does have some good deals for sure. I would suggest going to the wanted tab, and then the sub-tab "by shop" and make sure that wanted list has all the pieces you want and it will query every shop with the most pieces in that wanted list. You can save on shipping that way for sure. Also, using Lego direct is another good find. I just ordered a huge amount from them at over 60% off compared to the lowest bricklink prices from various stores and all at the low, low shipping price of $2.95, so I plan on using Lego direct for many orders in the future. I can't wait to start building!
  3. Looking good so far, but I am with others as it doesn't look finished. I haven't really seen the room too much either, so it is really up to you how you would want to display it. And Harry Potter weekend was always my favorite weekend when we had cable. Now I just have the Blu-Ray to enjoy at my leisure. But any excuse is a good excuse for HP movies! Keep up the good work.
  4. You should move here. There was definitely an abundance of sets on clearance at the Targets/Wal-Marts/TJ Maxx near me. Luckily I purchased my fair share of goodies at really low prices, but they still have some sets post Christmas on clearance at some of these stores, but they aren't sets I want so I didn't buy any. A lot of the sets I've seen on clearance were the Alien Conquest and Pharaoh's Quest, so if they weren't selling well in clearance, they might not have been selling well to begin with. With that said, I do think Lego might have too many lines running at the same time. I have been out of the loop for Lego for a while until the last year, so I don't know their usual rollout speeds, but it seems there is a lot of variety to choose from for 2012. That is great to an extent, but it will also make the waves run shorter to allow the new waves to get the shelf space. I have yet to purchase any Lego this year (other than clearance) and I don't know when I will (maybe LOTR or the Marvel sets), but that is only because I am saving my money to purchase these other lines, as opposed to buying Dino or some early City sets. I just can't afford every set I want, so many will get left out. On the grand scheme of things, having that much to choose from would allow enough consumers to pick up the slack that I am leaving and TLG will benefit either way, but for the consumer, there is too much to be able to focus on one select theme before it gets discontinued/discounted to make room for the next wave.
  5. Great work. It looks just like a wave. I like the variation in blues. That is the technique I used for building a tower on my castle. Nicely done.
  6. Very clever build. That would be an awesome set if TLG decides to do it.
  7. Thanks Angeli for the really close up shots. That makes me want them even more! I think Pippin might be my favorite printing. That little scarf is so cute. But the printing on all of them look fantastic. The orcs and uruk are looking absolutely amazing right now. As many others, I plan on doing a little army building. I probably won't go overboard, but I will have a nice collection when it is said and done. Those minifigures just look too amazing not to have multiples. I think Lego hit this one on the nose!
  8. Clever way to chop logs. I like the hot tub too. Then afterwards they can roll around in the snow! Keep up the good builds. Good luck!
  9. The neck looks amazing! Great color scheme as well!!
  10. The close ups are awesome. The figures are looking better and better each time I see them. I am not as much of a fanboy I guess to be concerned about how "wrong" some of the figures look. I think they all look great and I plan on buying them happily. Gollum doesn't look the best, but I can't see any other way he would be made. I think overall he is good. I think his arms seem out of place (too long) but other than that, his pose and face is spot on. The orcs look fantastic. The hands don't bother me, but then hands on the one zombie in POTC didn't bother me either. I like the color variation between the two. I do think the ears look bigger on the orcs than Legolas. I never had a problem with the head on Legolas in the poster, but I think the actual minifigure looks a million times better. Boromir still comes off as Theoden to me, but I think he looks great. Aragorn's outfit doesn't seem bad to me, even if he is in black a lot of the film. The hobbits are spot on. Merry and Pippin are by far the most similar to their actors portrayal. I would expect these sets to fly off the shelves, just for the figures alone. But the good thing is, like someone pointed out, 6 months is a long wait to SAVE! Good thing there aren't any other sets I plan on spending my money on, so these shouldn't be a problem as long as they are available.
  11. I really like the rear balcony. The overall design is quite nice as well, although the color scheme is a bit monotone for my taste. Although that is probably more realistic than some of the Modulars. Keep up the good work.
  12. This is a great MOC. I really like the color scheme and design of the building. This would fit right in! Keep up the good work. Good luck!
  13. Cute nativity. The chapel is nicely done as well, although it almost comes off as too much white. I don't know why. Otherwise, a nice build. Keep up the good work!
  14. Nice build. I like the gingerbread house the best. And the ropes to section off Santa is a nice touch. Good luck with the contest. The end is near!
  15. I like the patchy dirt beneath the horse. I think spreading that in patches in the snow would work quite well. Otherwise, good work. Keep it up.
  16. A Western reboot would be awesome. But I can also understand that people aren't really into westerns these days, so kids would probably not want to buy any of those sets. A mythological theme would be really neat. I'd like to see those in lego form for sure. And I agree about the Chinese theme. That would be really neat.
  17. The whole feel is great. The chairs are exceptionally well done and that piano, brilliant. I hope TLG does the western theme again. That'd be really neat.
  18. Very impressive. If I didn't already have a good chunk of those sets and didn't have my money focused on other Lego sets, I would be all over this. This looks like a great collection of some pieces. Those bluecoats...
  19. Nice little build. I like Ron being in the stall. I haven't played the game, so I don't know how closely it resembles those. I like the stalls overall, but I'm not so sure about the green. Only because I haven't ever seen green stalls before. Otherwise, it's a nice little build with some action involved. The only thing I would change is maybe adding some light trans-blue pieces mixed in with the clear to help simulate the water effect even further. Keep up the good builds. I can't wait to see more HP MOCs.
  20. I would not be disappointed if more of those renders/sketches of Toth's came to fruition. There are many great ideas in his portfolio. I'm actually a little upset we don't have a lot of them.
  21. Sorry if this was mentioned...If you look at the Bird's eye view picture of the Orc Forge, you will see the Goblins with the ears (I assume on the headpiece). If you look at the box art of the Mines of Moria, you get those same Goblins. So from what I can tell, TLG is releasing Uruk-hai and goblins (orcs). I don't think they are doing goblins AND orcs. I think they are one in the same in regards to this theme. But only time will tell with the official set images.
  22. The pillars look nice for the source material, but I agree with AndyC. Most people buying the sets aren't going to buy a column. They will buy something with play value. Thus, the reason flick-fire missiles were invented. AFOLs are completely different than the target audience. Sure, some of the AFOLs will be buying these sets for their children, but overall the target audience isn't AFOLs. Therefore, a lot of cool structures or open fields are not the type of sets that will fly off the shelves.
  23. Everyone can agree that there are things missing from this wave. But that's just it, it is the first wave. Lego would be foolish to release everything they planned for LOTR in one wave because people wouldn't be able to buy it all. Yes, battle packs would sell really well. But they want to make sure their regular sets sell well first before flooding the market with extraneous sets. My advice: Be patient. Everyone will get what they want in the end. With the exception of some of the modular or UCS style sets. Those might not happen, but I don't see why they wouldn't release more generic soldiers for people since they do in other themes.
  24. Very creative build. I like the rockwork and the color scheme of the wood tones. I can't wait to see more.
  25. Very clearly Superman. Great work. Very impressive. I can't wait to see more.
