Very nice little build. It definitely looks true to life whenever I've seen a trailer selling food. Only the best comes from out of a vehicle. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see more.

Monster Fighters 2012
TheLegoDr replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I am excited for all of these sets, especially the zombie one. Now I am disappointed to find out it is TRU exclusive. I don't like shopping there. They don't deserve my money. I will more than likely order from S@H eventually and get VIP points. That is the way to go. And someone said they come out in June? Is that confirmed? -
MOC: Modular Lord of the Rings in LDD
TheLegoDr replied to MattTheLegoman's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'm not a die-hard fan, so I don't remember what everything looks like specifically, but those are impressive builds. I can't wait to see more! -
Interesting builds. I don't picture Lego releasing these 3-in-1 Creator style sets, but if they did, the probably wouldn't put multiple versions of certain pieces to add variety. From what I can tell, one build uses all the pieces and the other two have a lot of spares left over. So with that said, whatever color they chose to portray some pieces will be the color for the other builds as well. And they would maybe include one minifigure, so you would get multiples of the same person that you would have to modify yourself with your own pieces. I like the idea, I don't see it happening though. Can't wait to see some more builds.

Very nice little build. It definitely captures the 80s. What a glorious decade for Lego. Keep up the good work. A nice addition to the series. I can't wait to see more!

A noble man on his way to his winter palace.
TheLegoDr replied to teabox's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I like the size of the carriage. I agree that it looks deceptively small. Keep up the good work. -
I like the stone work, but I agree with everyone else that it should have something Slytherin in it -- Green banners, a statue, portraits of notable past members. It is very monotone, which adds to the dungeon feel of it. But I'm sure there is someone with some decorative tips in Slytherin house. We all know Snape watches HGTV on the weekends. Keep up the good work.

Overall, a good addition to the community build. The room is very empty and plain. But it not being used much, it probably wouldn't have much character anyway. Using the tall tan bricks makes sense. I thought about doing that in part of my own build, but then I added some texture pieces in tan to break up the walls while still maintaining the same color scheme. Keep up the good work. The only thing I could picture in the mirror behind me is lots more lego. Otherwise I would see myself just as I am.

A nice addition to the community build. It is pretty much what I pictured from them describing it in the book. The chains are a nice touch. I can picture those big drawers being full of goodies that he has taken from students (most notably the Weasleys). There is a lot of texture to the floor and walls. Keep up the good work.

That is disappointing. I'd only want Loki for his helmet. I guess we will wait and see how they do it.

My daughter is a little over 2 and she loves regular Lego figures and pieces much more than Duplo. I think my wife bought every single Duplo set available this last year and she only is somewhat interested. She really likes "daddy lego" though. I haven't tried the minidolls for her yet, but I'm sure she will like the animals they have.

Interesting competition. I haven't heard of that before.

REVIEW: 9446 Destiny’s Bounty
TheLegoDr replied to Siegfried's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thank you for the review. It was much needed. I was super excited when I first heard of a Chinese ship..then I saw it. Overall it looks decent enough, but I'd want to modify it quite a bit. I'm not super into the whole transformation thing in Ninjago, but I surprisingly like this version. A ship that flies seems like a really neat and fun experience. The Wu figure is really nice. The new molds for snake people are interesting. The others being relatively the same I can live without. The kendo aspect is cool, but from what I can tell on wiki the kendoka don't actually use them while in "battle?" Either way, the figs are mostly a pass. I really like the sails and the figurehead though. I definitely would not buy this for that price tag. I don't know how Australia does it at that price point. I think I will pass on this purchase for now. Thanks again for the review. You keep writing them, we'll keep reading them. -
6086 Black Knight's Castle extended version
TheLegoDr replied to brickbuilder007's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Looking good. I was considering extending my Black Knight castle since it is my most favorite castle. I like the tower and the overall size of it. It is doing them justice. I can't wait to see more. Keep up the good work! -
Not a bad start. You covered all the basics. The biggest thing is the floor, like everyone else said. You can try bricks or plates or something to cover it. I guess you can picture it being a magical place and someone "charmed" the wood/stone floor into being more earthy. Oh, it was probably Peeves! I understand working with what you have and not being able to make everything exactly how the picture shows. You should use some creative license in your creation. If you can/want, you can always make some orders on bricklink for some specialized pieces for this build. But make sure you can use them for future MOCs too, otherwise it is a waste of money. This will be my first MOC and my first community build as well, so we all have some learning to do. I don't particularly want to make any bricklink orders to finish everything out, so I am working with what I have. We'll see how it turns out. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see updates.

Looking back, there are only a handful of sets I didn't have when I was a kid. Skull's Eye Schooner was the main one (of which I am building via bricklink now). Overall theme would be some of the earlier Harry Potter sets (mostly for the figures) and some of the Fantasy Castle sets. I was into Lego in mid 90s then again in late 2010, so I missed out on a lot. But overall, I'm not that upset about it. You have to decide are the aftermarket prices worth it, or do I piece it out, or go without.
-
Vincent Kessels Thank you for the response. I have not considered that before. I will have to look into that option. Thank you. Follows Closely Thank you for the picture. Now I can see it without building it. Thank you. I will have to play with that a bit and see if I like the outcome for my particular build.

REVIEW: 7327 Scorpion Pyramid
TheLegoDr replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
All three of the Targets near me have a huge stockpile of this and Portal of Atlantis. Both 50% off and just sitting there. My wife was like, "hey look half-off lego," but I wasn't too interested in either of those sets. If I felt I could resell them for a decent price I probably would pick some up, but I don't know if that will be happening. Fifty dollars can go to a lot of other Lego sets I actually do want. If the price drops any more, I may consider it. -
I'm not a MB supporter, but this is an interesting set. I'd much prefer to see it in Lego form though. I may have to steal some ideas and make them in Lego. I hope Lego re-introduces that Western theme. That was a lot of fun back in the day.

Nice little MOC. It certainly is making me hungry, but it is about lunch time too. I ilke the backsplash behind the burner. This is a "rare" piece of MOCing... Keep up the good work.

That is a brilliant house. Haunted or not, it's beautiful detailed and HUGE if it is on 4 32x32 plates. I also like the red trim. It really adds something special. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to see more.
-
I really like those new decals. That'd be awesome if they were released as official. I may consider buying them then. I'm not really into Ninjago, but some of the ninja related stuff (not the skeleton or snake) is appealing to me. And I really like that Maelstrom-Armored Bone Wolf! But since I missed on the Viking Fenrir wolf, I've been wanting to build some kind of wolf.

Another great addition to the Community Build. The window is impressive for sure, but I am most amazed at the entrance to the Chamber. The shape and coloring works well. I feel the window may be a bit large, but at the same time it is a very large castle and there are going to be grand stained glass windows about, so why not in this particular lavatory. Plus, I agree that the big window and the empty room adds to the loneliness for Myrtle. Brilliant work. Keep it up. I can't wait to see more.

Thank you for the response. I have considered that. And I just may end up doing that. But I still wonder if there is something to do with just a single stud depth.
-
I really like the modified batpod. I changed mine a little too so he'd be laying down like that, only yours is more impressive with the weaponry on the sides. I should consider that. I've never been into Green Lantern, but that is very clever on how you made the lantern. Keep up the good work!
