I originally planned on getting the full wave this year, but after looking at the set more with this extensive review, I have since changed my mind. Maybe, just maybe if the price comes down a bit I will consider it, but then again maybe not. I originally was going to get this and bricklink the Hulk from his set, but I might decide to get the Hulk set and then consider bricklinking Black Widow..or make my own purist version. Thanks for the review. It showed a lot of what I was interested in seeing. The jet itself looks quite nice. I think it is a nice resemblance and it looks durable enough. The interior detailing of the cockpit looks nice as well. I don't particularly care for the multiple Lokis or aliens, so this will be a pass I think. I passed on the Batcave also which is interesting.

Oky Very clever use for Rorschach's head. I hadn't considered that before. And it is odd how well Deadpool seems to fit in with that hat and maracas.

New York Toy Fair Coverage Part Five: Super Heroes
TheLegoDr replied to Aanchir's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the coverage. It will be neat seeing some of these sets close up. -
I'm only just now getting into Star Wars, so I would choose the Death Star. Not only because it has a TON of minifigures, but also because it looks like a neat playset (not that I play with my Lego bricks). The shuttle does look like a very nice replica of the actual thing and it being designed for collectibility, that is a nice feature also. I do agree if you ever planned on building it secondhand, the DS would be easier since it is a collection of rooms. If you plan on getting both, get the DS first since it is older. If you want the shuttle more, get it first and then within the next 3 months, get the DS. The DS being such a hot seller, I would have a hard time believing they would discontinue it within the next 3 months. They'd probably want to milk at least one more Christmas just in case. But there really is no guarantee. As stated above, I would personally go for the DS, but that is because I have very little in the way of Star Wars figures, so it would all be new for me. Good luck on your decision! As for me, I'll ask my own "What set should I buy?" For the Hulk minifigure promotion in mid-May, you need to spend $50. I was considering either the 9492 TIE Fighter or 9494 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor plus 9489 Endor Rebel Trooper Battle Pack. Keep in mind, I have very little Star Wars figures or playsets. I like the figures more among the latter two sets, but I really like how the TIE Fighter looks. What does everyone think here?

Not that it is a huge issue, but the Iron Man in Cosmic Cube Escape and Quinjet are technically different. The other characters will be repeats. I would think it is a relatively inexpensive way to have another Iron Man variant. I am excited to actually get the Cosmic Cube escape and I am torn on the Quinjet and Hulk set. I want some of the figures with very little repeats, but I am bound to have multiple Lokis. Oh well..

Last night I picked up: 9491 Geonosian Cannon 9674 Naboo planet 9675 Tatooine planet 9676 Death Star 7957 Sith Nightspeeder Target was having a low discount on SW sets, so I decided to pick some up. I really like the printing on some of the figures. I finally have some baddies, even if they are expanded universe.

Very cool ceiling/rafters and pillars. I may have to borrow that idea sometime for some purpose. Keep up the good builds!

Thanks for getting this worked out and letting us know. I have a few shields that are broken and wouldn't mind fixing them to use again. I will have to look into this solution.

That is 30 from the original sets from 20 years ago. It is hard to find any on bricklink with decent printing, so I haven't purchased any. Thankfully mine haven't faded too much. And I agree about those BF becoming too expensive. I would love to have a larger BF army, but I have other things to spend my money on.

Monster Fighters 2012
TheLegoDr replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I don't care for the ghost train, but those new ghost shrouds are pretty awesome. I will always have a special place for the old type, but these new ones not being happy adds a nice touch to it. I can't wait to pick up some of these. Hopefully that Haunted House has them, if/when it comes available. -
Nice MOC. I like how it connects with Cafe Corner with ease. Having a pub in any city scene is essential. The color scheme works well. I really like the simple booths on the inside, exactly what I would picture. Keep up the good builds.

Nicely done. Homer is spot on. If only I knew how to type out that drool/gargle sound he does when he is dreaming of his forbidden foods.

I know very little about the SW world, but this is an impressive MOC no matter what theme it is under. Beautiful snot work and wall detailing. The ship itself is quite impressive. From the scale of the photo it doesn't look very big, then you see a close up realize how ginormous this thing really is (even though you described the size). Awesome work. I can't wait to see more!

I would say he answered well. I would like to think that is a hint at a restaurant, but who knows. He could have also said his secret is not being very good with money and should find a safe place to keep it. Who knows..but a restaurant would be a great modular. I can't wait to see it whatever it turns out to be!
-
Very nice road. I need to build up a street like that for my Modular layout probably.

I agree completely. Hagrid wouldn't need to be in a defensive pose like Hulk, so the new Hulk figure is well represented. I think the size works for him, but I think for certain other characters it might be too big and that is where a Hagrid size would be good. Especially if they were to create a defensive pose for them too.

mrklaw We have a lot of banks here in Nebraska (middle of the US) that look similar to the Town Hall. If I had a picture, I would totally post it. It looks almost as identical to the Town Hall as one could be. The columns, color-scheme, and overall grand size is very spot on. It was weird seeing the Town Hall as a town hall since I know that building to be a bank. Solscud007 I agree, restaurants would be a nice touch. That McDonalds looks great. I really love the Steak 'n Shake. That looks identical to how they look.

Do any of your significant others share your love of Lego?
TheLegoDr replied to dark1san's topic in General LEGO Discussion
My wife is more open to Lego now. I think she's happy I have a hobby to occupy my time. We built some Hogwarts stuff for the Community Build not too long ago and she got into that. It was nice to share that with her. She had some good ideas, especially for not being a Lego nut like me. And she loves the new Friends sets, although she hasn't really built any of them. She had me build them for our daughter, so I don't know. I do think she gets tired of hearing about new sets or pieces I want to order. -
deskp When I picture a "beefier" minifig for Thing or Juggernaut, I am thinking of Hagrid size maybe. Still very much Lego, but not so huge like the new Hulk. Anyway, just an idea. As far as the cowl, that new one does look sweet. I would love to see some TDK/TDKR sets. I kept putting off getting a black Batman, but then I couldn't wait any longer. I would imagine we would get a new print job on TDKR Batman, so either way, having two wouldn't be a problem. As we get closer to the movie release, we will hopefully know more. It will either deliver an awesome set(s) to us fans, or we will overhype the possibility and be majorly disappointed. I think TLG should just make us happy and release a few sets hehe.

I like the carcass. Good display of entrails/blood with those lego pieces. Very clever.
-
Thanks for the review. I can't wait to pick this set up. I really like the first modded Iron Man that BasOne showed. The armor is sleek enough to work! TLG are you taking notes? Anyway, the new giant helmet is growing on me. I think in the trailer they show Loki without this helmet during this scene, so they could have included hair, but I like getting multiples of this gold helmet.
-
Thanks for the review. I was planning on picking this set up anyway, but this only clinches it. The figures look beautiful. I don't love the size of the helmet from the side, but from the front it isn't as noticeable. I like that it is a cheap way to get Iron Man. The jeep itself looks rather nice. I love me some dark blue. Keep up the good reviews. I can't wait to hold this set in my hands.
-
Oky That is a very neat Batman photo. I never watched that particular series, but this image can be used to represent the Bat in any sense. Can't wait to see more.

Thank you for the great Community build. It was a fun time. I hope to do another one in the future. There were a lot of great entries. I enjoyed seeing everyone's views on the wizarding world. Hopefully the people that were unable to finish in time will still finish their MOCs. Better late than never. Maybe a new community build could be Diagon Alley/Knockturn Alley/Hogsmeade! I want to build those buildings anyway, it would just give me another incentive and a reason to convince my wife I need to order more Lego . And thanks to Hinckley for the awesome tag. It was a very nice surprise indeed.
