Thanks for the review. I was already planning on getting this set, and this review makes it more worthwhile. I knew the horse glew (of which I don't have any skeleton horses), so I am really excited about that. But it is really neat that the mummy glows also. Although comparing the mummies side by side, I actually prefer the CMF mummy over this one, so that is disappointing. I know I already prefer the CMF werewolf over the Monster Fighter one. Ann Lee is a very clever name for sure, but then also her head is neat too. I don't know how much use I will have for it outside of some castle theme, but maybe I will have a new warrior princess for my Black Knights! I can't wait to pick these sets up.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
TheLegoDr replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks for the advent calendar pictures. I can't wait to get it! I still have last years unopened since I opened a different advent last year. But we got that one for $20, so I was pretty pleased about that. Hopefully we can find this one just as cheap. Last years was my first SW set, so I'm excited to open it. For someone new to SW, this is a great calendar. For others with multiple Hoth battlepacks, then I guess it wouldn't be the best. I only recently got the battlepacks, so I don't have multiples of those figures, so I could probably use another 3, not a big deal. I didn't buy any battle of Naboo, so that gungan is welcomed. And I love Santa Maul. The box art is almost worth the purchase! -
I really need to see that movie I guess. Interesting MOC. Can't wait to see the rest and then whenever I see the movie I will be able to compare!

When the community build first was mentioned, I immediately thought of the arena beasts and how I would build them. I see you've beaten me to that and I probably won't get around to building any of them. But this looks quite nice, especially for brick-built. Good parts usage. Keep up the good work!

Danthebrick That is an awesome deal! I wish I was able to get one of those at all, let alone that cheaply! darv That is an awesome deal. Way to go Lego customer service, I guess... I ordered enough to get two figures and two posters, but I probably won't do much with the posters. I'll keep one figure sealed for sure. I did get the latest Lord of the Rings poster, which I would be more apt to hold onto than the R2-D2 one. Congrats on the good deal.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Didn't Lego recently have an official release of this series, so I'm pretty sure they are real. Unless someone at Lego was hacked. -
I ordered those same sets from S@H for the Hulk promo. I will agree, those are two great starting sets for the theme. I'm sure they will set a great tone for the rest of the theme, for years to come! I especially love Gollum which is very surprising to me.

I just built this set the other night and I was blown away by the detail of Shelob. Also, her size cannot fully be appreciated until you hold it in your hand. I was originally impressed with Aragog, which is quite laughable now after seeing this one. Even my 2 year old daughter loved this set. She keeps grabbing the spider and saying it is going to get me. Fun play value across the board. Gollum looks incredibly better than the original pre-lim photos and the poster, I think. BrickForge's rogue biter is nearly identical to sting in this set. I originally bought the biter some months ago before this theme was announced. Oh well, can't have enough blades to fend off those orcs. Thanks again for the review. I think the set is well worth the price.

Thanks to receiving some of the LOTR sets in the mail from S@H, I decided to rewatch the movies. After reading the review initially, I wasn't blown away by the set. I thought the minifigures looked great, of course. After rewatching Fellowship, I think Lego hit this set spot on. The troll especially is nearly identical. The set-up is quite good too. Naturally the stickers are a let-down, but the figures detail more than make up for it in my book. Thanks again for the review.

If you regret buying the figures you did buy, then sell them and quit buying the new figures. Simple as that. Others, myself included, are excited for future releases of these figures. Series 6 was released here in mid-February and I immediately found all of the figures I wanted. Series 8 was released here within the last week, so approximately mid-May, meaning 3 months of series 6 was available for everyone. If you can't find your figure over 3 months, then that is too bad, but you even claim that you don't go to that many stores very often, so of course you won't have the chance to buy the figures you want if you never actually look for them. We have 3 Targets and 3 Wal-Marts, plus TRU, but no Lego brand stores. We have plenty of options to find the figures. As stated, series 8 just came out and I've only been to 2 of those 7 stores listed and already have all of the figures I want and the stores were picked clean when I went. So for other locals looking for their figures, they will have another 3 months or longer to look for their series 8 before series 9 comes out. Methinks that will be plenty of time. Or you can resort to Bricklink or eBay for the figures. I have yet to do that, but it might be easier for you if you can't make it to the stores to find the packets. I have no problem with army builders/hoarders. I want the figures I want too, but if I can't find some of them, then I keep looking until I do. I was an army builder when I first got into CMFs, but lately I haven't been as much. Been trying to spread my money to new themes. Although it is really impressive to see huge armies of similar figures. I think the CMF are definitely worth the hype. I think releasing them any more frequent would be troublesome, but at the current pace it seems to be okay. With all of the other themes coming available, it is getting costly. But that isn't to say I would want the CMF to stop completely.

Very nice building. I like the design of the structure and the tower. The dark blue roof is appealing. I really liked it on Ollivander's too. Something about that dark blue I guess. That shop looks like a good place to visit. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the pictures. I'm only a casual Ninjago person. I like some of the figures, but I don't buy the sets. And I don't follow the show at all. The new NRG figures are quite nice and I just may have to get them to add to my collection. The new snake people look cool, but I don't know if I would have a use for them.

Review: 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep
TheLegoDr replied to Lego Otaku's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'm pretty sure you can have up to 3 reviews of the same set? So the more the merrier. And it is great seeing other people's photos and descriptions because it gives us a better look at the set. I try to read as many reviews as I can before I buy something. If I didn't already like/want this set, then I would be upset only seeing one review, but everyone that can and wants to might as well make their own reviews. -
Nice ground work. That torso works surprisingly well for this. And I love the layered cape look. That era is really neat to look at for architecture and figure styles. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the extensive review. Before I read the review I voted outstanding. Afterwards, I switched it to good. The set itself looks great compared to the source material. The price to piece ratio is quite good, especially for a licensed set. Then add in all these great figures and I'd say the value is definitely there. If you want to measure by weight, then I have no idea how it compares to other sets of similar size. The large amount of stickers is disappointing, but not a deal breaker. I sometimes use stickers, and sometimes I don't. I will have to wait and see with this one. I applied all of the 2010 HP stickers and I couldn't imagine Hogwarts without them, but I'll wait and see how the Mine would look without them. The figures are the selling point for me, so I am excited for them. Legolas is brilliant. I'm still not sold on Boromir's face, but many others seem to like it, so I'll hold my judgment until I hold it in my hands. I will probably try to wait for a sale on most of the sets, since I don't like buying anything (Lego included) for full price. But I just may buy these to have them instead of waiting for a sale. Who knows..

Monster Fighters 2012
TheLegoDr replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I usually have to want/love the figures, the pieces, or both to buy something. The main reason I buy the full set just for the figures sometimes is because when you go to buy each individual figure, you could end up paying just as much for the complete set. Take the new Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout set for an example. The big Hulk figure average price on Bricklink is ~$32.00 and the Thor average price is ~$12.00. Right there is almost the same as the $49.99 price tag, so I might as well just buy the full set and get the extra pieces instead of "saving" ~$5. I realize Thor will be coming out in a polybag, but who knows the availability of some of those. So with Monster Fighters, a lot of the sets I may as well just buy and get the pieces and figures. Some of the pieces I will surely be able to use elsewhere, but the Ghost Train doesn't have as many as I would need/want. If I have to Bricklink the ghost figure (if I can't find the polybag), then so be it. I am very pleased to see those neat GID pieces on the train though. Very clever to have "the witching hour" represented. Now, the theme just needs a witch! (different from CMF witch of course..ooh, with the new olive green color head!) -
My daughter has been getting into Lego lately. She always wants to build or play with my pieces/figures instead of her own Duplo. She loves the Friends sets too. But with getting her into Lego, I never considered the time when there would be a set both of us may want and we would have to get two! Now I'm worried! The Skiff will be amazing for sure. I can't wait.

The Anakin/Vader one is awesome, granted I love/prefer the new Anakin head from his Jedi Starfighter released this year. And the dark/light Luke is seamless! Nice work.

Monster Fighters 2012
TheLegoDr replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
ZO6 To clarify, I love the minifigures, but I also want a nice looking and functional set to go along with them. I just don't see that as well with the ghost train. I will agree the Vampyre Castle is brilliant. The color scheme looks great, the GID pieces are amazing, and the neat hidden features will definitely be a hit with the kids, and even some AFOLs. I like the hidden staircase in the wall the most and then the angled wooden stairs leading up to that. For some reason that is really interesting to me. I also like the car, so that helps. Going back to minifigures, you do get a lot of exclusive figures with that castle, so that is even more appealing to people. I haven't heard about the lab connecting to the castle before, I must have missed that. That would be a nice idea on TLG's part to have people buy more of the theme to interconnect things. I wonder how well Lord Vampyre would work with a human scientist..points to ponder. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's all fun speculation. I would agree with the notion that they would not put any monsters in the CMF while Monster Fighters is out. To me, they included the original monsters in the CMF to test the waters a bit, plus to add in some interesting characters. I, of course, could be dead wrong.. -
You mean, has the figure sold out yet? Or the Quinjet? I have no idea on either, but the worst that would happen is a delay in delivery probably. Since the promotion was slated to run a good 2 weeks, it would be crazy to think they would run out of the figure this quickly, but if it was a popular enough promotion I suppose it is possible. The May the 4th sale, shipping was delayed 5-6 days for me, whereas when I ordered for this promotion the day it began (16th), my sets shipped out yesterday (17th), so to me, it sounds like this is a good promotion but it might not have the sudden rush like May the 4th/Revenge of the 5th. Since this is longer running, more people might be delaying their purchases. I wouldn't imagine they would have run out of the figure already, or come Tuesday when you can order it. You could always call TLG and see if they have any left. Best of luck.

LEGO® CUUSOO 空想 - Turn your model wishes into reality
TheLegoDr replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Even if this set did get 10,000 votes and TLG decided to go with it, it is up to them to change the model how they see fit. Meaning they would need to redesign everything to sell it. TThey already came out with some good quality Spongebob sets, including a Krusty Krab, so they probably won't want to release another one just yet. And where are the play features? Wait a minute, I get it. This is what the Krusty Krab would look like if Squidward designed it. Brilliant. -
Phred Looking at the parts in that bag, I am inclined to say it is this set. There are only 6 sets that have those big yellow panels, and only 5 that have at least 4 or more. This looks like a good bet, but I could be completely wrong. I didn't see the turntable piece in that many of the sets though. Hope this helps.

iDave I have that top set. I classic town!

Thanks for the review. I only recently got into SW Lego, so I will definitely be getting this set. The minifigures are brilliant. Lando is superb, and Fett is beautiful as well. I can't wait to have this in hand. There are too many great sets coming out this year. I thought I spent a lot last year...
