I received two and still haven't opened them. I tried once, but I couldn't do it. I literally couldn't rip the polybag open, so I was lazy enough to not get scissors. I'll open one eventually. It does look pretty in there. I notice everyone keeps referring to TC as he, but she is actually programmed as a female personality, described here. I also just watched The Phantom Menace and noticed a female voice, is the only reason I brought it up. I'm not a SW nerd since I haven't even seen all of the movies yet.

Nice free hugs one. That was painfully awkward, yet hilarious in the movie. Voldy showing his soft side, hehe.

To newwavejunkie and anyone else interested, I just ordered LOTR and Super Heroes sets and received both the Frodo poster and the Hulk minifigure, so yes, you do get both, but you have to have at least ONE item of LOTR for the poster and as far as I can tell anything else above $50 to get the Hulk figure.

Darth Dino That is a great set. Along with the other Winter Village sets. Although Lego did re-release it last year, so I don't know how easy it would be to get it cheaper. But I would recommend getting it for sure! Ceroknight If you are into minifigures mainly, I would go with the Endor Battle Pack and the CCE and Power Armor. I personally love the Wonder Woman figure and the Iron Man was a brilliant surprise. I don't have many Star Wars sets, so I don't know how inclined you are there, but for maximum figs, I'd go that route. The rebels look nicely printed and can you have enough stormtroopers?.. Otherwise I would recommend the Batman/Catwoman set, just to maximize Super Hero figures. I have all of those sets listed above and I'm quite pleased with each of them, so it is a tough call on what to get. Good luck.

I'm from Nebraska (central USA) and I own most of the DC wave and most of the Marvel wave. The DC was purchased fairly local whereas the Marvel sets were ordered from S@H. So far everything is in perfect condition, printing and pieces. So it is tough to say if it is a regional thing or not.

I have no interest in Deadpool, so I guess I'll never understand his jokes. But I really liked the Cap/fire extinguisher one and the X-Games. I could picture Cyclops being more disappointed with not being able to enter than Logan.

Review: 3300003 LEGO Store Promotional Set
TheLegoDr replied to JimBee's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the review. It is nice seeing this set up close. It is a neat little set, but not something I would particularly care for standing in line for multiple hours for. It isn't something I care to collect, but I can understand people wanting a copy of it. There is a Lego store opening up about 3 hours from here, but I doubt I will make the drive down there when it happens, but I will definitely drive down there eventually to check everything out since I've never been to a Lego store before. The closest one to here is at the Mall of America (approximately 6-7 hour drive from here). Needless to say, I haven't made the trek. -
Let's share our funny interesting photos!
TheLegoDr replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
First off Remus_Lupin, I like your sigfig picture very much. As far as the life cycle. That is very clever. I like the stages and it is very clear what happens when. The last photo makes me sad though, did his wife die before him . Hopefully he is just out for a walk with his dog. Yes, that will make my day much cheerier thinking that. -
Very clever and inspiring build. I like the inclusion of the reference photo also (the one from the minifig and the real life statue). Keep up the great work!

Monster Fighters 2012
TheLegoDr replied to Darth Nihilus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The Ghost Train was immediately knocked off of my list due to not liking the train aesthetic. But I loved those ghosts so I was a bit disappointed. The leaked picture of the Haunted House did show ghosts with that also, so if it ends up having ghosts with it, then this polybag won't matter much at all since I will be getting that set. But if it doesn't come out with the ghosts, I will have to look for this polybag. I was expecting a ghost in a bag, but with this nice little mini build of a clock, it is simply brilliant and hard to pass up. I hadn't considered this being a gift with purchase over $75 or something like that Kendo Jay set last Fall/Winter. I will definitely keep my eyes peeled, no matter how much it hurts. -
Ultimate Collectors Scale All Terrain Armoured Transport
TheLegoDr replied to cavegod's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That is a very impressive scale. I was pleased with the most recent Lego AT-AT, but this blows that out of the water. As much as I like the AT-AT, I doubt I would ever buy a UCS version just due to cost. I want to get my hands on the signifcantly smaller released version. But congrats on the build. It is very impressive. -
Since I'm new to Star Wars lego, this looks like a fun build and a neat Starfighter. I don't own any of the others, so I can't complain about having yet another Starfighter. I like the color scheme and the cockpit does look neat. Again, being new to SW, I'm not sure how good the figures are. I don't own Saesee yet and I'm hoping they would release one without the Clone Wars eyes next year for AOTC, so I am waiting on this, unless I can find a great discount on it. There are just too many other sets ahead of this one over multiple themes. But thanks for the review.

I really like mini-scale sets now, so this is very inspiring. I considered doing this particular scene in mini, but wasn't sure how to pull it off and you just did. Clever usage and the mini Slave is brilliant. I may have to try my hand at this scene in mini and see how different my own version would look. Keep up the great work!

Very clever build. I was thinking of trying my hand at these beasts for the community build. I like the levers as spikes. I will have to see what I can come up with and how I can compare to your clever build.

After reading this thread, it started getting me worried about all of my figures. Fortunately, none of them have any signs of cracking or bad printing. I have had issues with missing pieces in random sets, but luckily nothing with the SuperHero figures themselves. I have had issues with Star Wars printing before though and customer service was very hesitant to send me a replacement part.

Very keen eye hoiharry. Looking at reference images, it is definitely the Slughorn party Harry and not the Wedding Harry. At the wedding he is wearing a dark vest under his suit with a dark tie. At the Slughorn party he is wearing a dark red shirt with a dark red polka dotted tie. Very nice observance. An even more obscure Harry than first thought.

According to Brickset I own 1045 figures, but I haven't updated that in a while, so I should recalculate that sometime. Unfortunately I was in my Dark Ages for the last 15 years so I missed out on a lot of figures

Those cases look amazing kasmca. I will need to look into purchasing some. The price is perfect too. I have lots of figures I need to sort/organize/display, so those look exactly what I would need. Thanks for the information!

Review: LotR 9469 Gandalf Arrives
TheLegoDr replied to Captain BeerBeard's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thanks for the review. This will be a great little set to get. I think the price is perfect for what you get. After all, it is licensed. The figures look amazing. I am not disappointed at all regarding either one. I'm glad they can still use the old bardings on the new horse. I will have to wait and see a new/old horse side by side in my hands before I determine which one I like better. I do like the hooves on the new one though. The wagon is neat enough, but I am mostly buying these sets for the figures and the pieces are just icing. The Hobbit torsos are amazing! I can't wait to use those. -
When I first saw the license for LOTR, I was planning on buying all of the sets anyway, no matter how they looked. Seeing this review, does not disappoint. It blows away any Toy Fair pics I've seen, by far. The brickbuilt spider is a sight to behold. As impressed as I was with the latest Aragog, this Shelob takes the cake. And the price is perfect in my eyes. You get Frodo in another set, but with different torso and head, so in reality you get 3 exclusive figures, plus a few extra swords. I like that collection a lot. As far as extra rings go, those will come in handy everywhere, plus they are tiny so more than likely people will lose quite a few, so they wanted to make sure everyone had extras because they wouldn't be able to sell licensed goods to consumers through their customer service. Thank you for the review. I am even more excited to get these sets. I will probably wait to get all of them for Christmas instead of right when they come out, but I can't wait to have the whole theme with my other figures. I will have to buy another case to put all of the figures on display.
-
This is a huge surprise for sure. I was not expecting anything Kingdoms related for quite a while. I love the two factions and have built them up quite a bit. As excited as I would normally have been for this set, I would rather focus spending my money on the new licenses instead. If this came out last year, I would have for sure bought a couple. But this year I just don't have the budget for this and the other sets. Unfortunately, it is too little too late. Bring on LOTR and SuperHeroes! Otherwise, it is a great collection of figures. I don't need yet another king and queen, or more jesters, but it still a great figure pack for sure.

I received my orders yesterday afternoon, both with the posters and TC-14s. I ordered around 8:00am CST in USA on May 4th. It is normally a 2-day delivery whenever I order from S@H from their warehouse in Mississippi. My poster numbers were 2,000 something and 6,000 something, so it looks like they would have been packed pretty early, but stood in a long line to get shipped out like a lot of others. I suppose TLG may have a banner year this year with these new licenses and this sale going so well. I'm excited to have my first promo polybag. The figure does look quite lovely. I don't necessarily care for having 2 posters, but I'm sure I'll keep one and give the other away at Christmas or something. Now I can't wait to see what the promo figure will be for next year . Hope everyone else continues to get their orders. I was getting a bit worried when it was taking so long (exactly a week instead of 2 days).

I'm not too familiar with Bane, so I'm glad they are bringing him into this movie. It is a nice change up from more common villains in the Batman universe. I like Christopher Nolan's version of the Batman "legend," so I have been more than happy with how the last two movies have been handled. I am unsure on how Anne Hathaway will come off because I picture Selina Kyle as sexy and I don't find Anne Hathaway as sexy. I can see her being a bad-megablocks Catwoman, but not necessarily the sexy, sultry Selina. But I am not holding that against the movie. I will never understand everyone's hatred for the voices in the movies. I can clearly understand Batman's growl and Bane's speech. I actually preferred Bane in the 2nd trailer compared to the enhanced voice in the 3rd. I think the growl is perfect to add in fear and secrecy for the alter-ego. I think I am most excited for this new Batman movie since Batman has always been my favorite hero. So when I watch the trailer I get goosebumps. That is probably also because of Hans Zimmer doing the score. I don't think I've ever not liked his work. I also didn't picture the one-liners as cheesy. They seemed like something anyone would say. I thought they added a little more humanity to the fictional universe. I wish I could add more about the mythos behind the characters and get into that debate, but I don't know too much about it. From what I've read, Bane has been a good strategist, so he should bring about a good mental and physical component to the show. Let's wait and see.

Yes, she offered. I think she misses buying sets for me so she tends to go overboard a bit. I'm not sure if anyone saw it, but my post from after Christmas was between her and my wife. Christmas Haul But to not be outdone, my wife has bought her share too. I think we are neck and neck this year. It is a tad overwhelming. And with all these sets coming out, there is no end in sight. TLG needs to slow it down for us consumers.

Collectable Minifigures: Feeling the Packets
TheLegoDr replied to Jedi master Brick's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I believe feeling the packets is the best way to go. You can guarantee (if you are talented at it) to go home with the exact figure you want as opposed to wasting your money on some figure you don't want. It would be like having every lego set with a blank box and you just hope you leave with the set you originally wanted. Feeling a pack and getting the figures you want is no different than random visits from various consumers grabbing figures by random and after x number of tries some other person tries to find the figure they want and are unable to since the previous random visits removed the exact figure they want. Might as well just buy what you want if you are able to. Blink packaging is there for a reason and I have a few neighbors/friends that prefer to buy them randomly and see what they get. Obviously every person is different and Lego is having a huge success with this theme, so whatever they are doing seems to be working. I prefer to feel the pack and see if I can get the exact figures I want in the exact quantities I want. I've been nice before and someone said they were looking for some figure and I knew where they were in the box or had a spare in my cart and gave it to them. Doing that is a nice gesture, but doing it too often then leaves you without the figures you wanted. I don't feel bad about feeling the packs, I've actually helped people more that way than hurting their chances, so that shows good karma for me .
