  1. I agree. The early Spider-Man figures would count, but the new wouldn't since it is based on the cartoon. I would say Nick Fury counts due to the IP. I would say Magneto unfortunately doesn't count. And as far as Warwick Davis, I'd be hesitant to say a lot of those figures count because the HP sets didn't name him specifically after Griphook, only Goblin. Yes you can assume he is Griphook, but he could also be a generic goblin working at the bank.
  2. I assumed some wiggle was normal. If there are alternate pieces, then I will have to contact TLG about it. Thanks for letting me know.
  3. To answer a question above, I would assume we won't get any more Hulk figures until Avengers 2 in 2015 or if a Hulk movie comes out sometime in the near future. And with that said, I would assume it would be another larger mold Hulk, not the minifigure scale one.
  4. My 3 year old daughter plays with whatever she can get her hands on (whether I say she can or not). She's just ornery and inquisitive, so I let it slide. The only time I get upset is when I am working on a MOC and she keeps taking the pieces I need to build her own little thing. But I've learned to just not build anything when she is around. I just let her play with whatever and then I'll tear it apart and rebuild with what I need after she goes to bed. She has really been into Duplo lately and Friends, but she enjoys the CMFs I get her also. She was super excited to have the Dr minifigure from 2012's hospital set. I agree LEGO should be played with and the younger the better. It really does help with fine motor skills. My 3 year old has way better eye-hand coordination than a lot of her peers she spends time with, all of whom are older than she is. Plus it helps her creativity and imagination. And no worries, I've painted my share of bricks when I was younger. Essentially I ruined a good chunk of my white bricks and castle minifigure torsos because I thought it was a good idea at the time.
  5. That's awesome. It's great they love the LEGO figures of themselves. Who knows how much they enjoy the regular action figures also. But it makes me smile them being all excited with their LEGO dopplegangers.
  6. That looks great. You did an awesome job. I would try my hand at this, but I have no idea where to start. Keep up the great work!
  7. The funny thing is that LEGO is aimed at kids. It isn't only an AFOL collectible. We just happen to still like it, yet it was aimed at us when we were the target audience also. Kids require different sets than the AFOL community. Call it lazy all you want, but with so many sets coming out, the company as a whole has to hit a variety of price points and keep everyone interested to maintain profitability. Selling two different sets would be great for us, but then you lose out on the play value, the tension between two opposing sides.
  8. Still have yet to see any in Southwest Nebraska, USA. I haven't checked TRU (I'm sure they have them), but it is so far out of my way I rarely go there, let alone the mark-up. But I noticed they don't have any previous series really at my Targets or Wal-Marts either. I'm sure Christmas cleaned them out for that. But as far as I can tell the LEGO aisle is pretty sad so far. Everything is cluttered without any pricing. So who knows when they'll actually get 2013 sets in, let alone the CMFs.
  9. I actually considered buying more for my display stands. I have CMF, but other Licensed figures on display also, so I need something to put them on as well.
  10. Thanks for the review. I actually really like this set. I think they captured everything they needed to at a great price while allowing some play features for the kids and some wonderful exclusive figures for the adult fans. The vehicles look exactly how I'd expect them to. Sure, some MOCs are better, but they typically are. They had to hit everything with a limited number of pieces and price. I say win. With that said, you may want to recheck your math. Your overall score should be closer to an 8 if your individual numbers are supposed to mean anything, or alter those to fit. Just a thought for your next review.
  11. I don't know what you are talking about because I love this set. It gives us a more accurate scale tumbler and am awesome Bay. I don't love the blue, but that is mostly for the kids buying it. I will mod that out. And desert camo is that color because of the sand color playing off shadows which would be darker. I think typically they would have a group of colors on the tan spectrum. Similar to white and gray camo for snow.
  12. I hadn't thought of the car not having a designated area to park compared to the Fire Brigade's bay. Obviously (like many others) I will be modding or not building that car so it won't be that big of a deal. I actually really like this limo. I know it isn't vintage looking which I assume is what they were going for with the Cinema.
  13. I've seen that photo before many times, but when was the initial surfacing of it? In the background it shows the Kingdoms Joust, has that always been there? I guess I never paid much attention to it because it wouldn't zoom in very much, but this newest link showed much more zoom, so I could see things a lot easier. Either way, if they are preliminary or fun MOCs from Master Builders, it's nice to speculate.
  14. That looks awesome. I hadn't considered getting the UCS version, but this is very doable and won't take up as much display area. I may have to request that. Thank you for making the instructions available to everyone.
  15. I actually love Gollum the more I deal with him. But unfortunately his arms do fall off a bit more than I'd like. But you can turn one of the arms around and it is like he is holding something out to you. So it's pretty neat.
  16. That alternative build looks great. Much better than anything else I've seen presented for an official set. Although I doubt I will build any of the sets and just hold onto the figures for my early 90s memories..
  17. Those polybags are neat and it is nice seeing so many new polybags out there. Granted, who knows when some will be available and where. However, with all of these polybags having the main characters, it's tough to justify the purchase since I'll already have multiple Tonto/Lone Ranger with the actual sets. So I will have to pass on these unfortunately. But it makes sense to release these instead of an army builder Native American or something, simply because maybe some kid will only want the main figure and not get any of the sets. Business-wise, it makes sense. AFOL-wise, it doesn't (to me). Either way, thanks for the pictures.
  18. Prices will never go down because plastic prices will continue to rise, plus normal inflation practices. Also, people are still buying the sets non-stop even with these quality issues. From a business standpoint TLG doesn't find it to be a big enough problem to fix it until their profits start to decline. And I don't blame them, even though I'd always love cheaper prices.
  19. As far as I can tell lotr is selling well here. The stores either sold out of a lot of the sets or they never ordered a new supply to restock the shelves. It has been sold out quite frequently around here. I'm sure The Hobbit helped a lot too. I think a lot has to do with the region you live in. I would suspect this castle theme to sell well too. It seems to cover a lot that lotr doesn't. I will most likely skip the sets due to buying other more important sets for me, but it seems to have a nice offering.
  20. Actually that isn't a bad idea kermit about having another level with the windows/statues of some sort and having the actual theater part with no windows. The downside is height. It is already as tall as the rest of the Modular line (short of the tallest of the tall Town Hall), so I doubt they'd want to go much higher than that. But I was going to buy this without all of those pictures. Put it in blind packaging and call it a Modular, I will buy it. But those pictures are the gravy on the cake...or something like that. I love the red baseplate. It works perfectly for red carpet, although yes a real theater may have more patterning on there. I love the movie ideas and the windows (if stickered or printed, both work). The stars on the sidewalk are brilliant. I agree that the corner idea isn't the best for a theater, but I do love the architectural aesthetic. I don't love the torsos used in the figures though. That one is from Lord Vampyre isn't it? Or at least another Vampire figure and that seems out of place. It doesn't look "classy" to attend this showing. But of course the CMF figure will work great here. I don't love the windows in the theater itself. I may have to modify that somehow. But I do love the piece usage otherwise. I don't mind that it is such a small theater because you are pretty limited with LEGO if you want it realistic. Too bad they didn't come out with a new piece for a popcorn box or something. I mean, Friends received an ice cream cone which is awesome. So why not add something else for City fans.
  21. So I had no interest in this theme and I doubt I will pick anything up for 2013, but if Rhinos and gorillas and bears are true, I will definitely buy into it then. For some reason those molds are more appealing to me than what is currently offered. The crocs and lions underneath the mask look good, but the masks seem odd to me on them. I'll have to wait and see what I think if I hold one in my hand. I haven't looked at any other media for this theme and I skipped the last few pages, even though I've read basically everything else about it (and I'm not even interested...weird).
  22. That is beautiful. I love the landscaping and the spotty snow as well. The color usage really works in my mind. That is how I would presume a mine to look like. And the gray trunk may be weird, but those olive green leaves . Keep up the great work. I'd love to see more.
  23. Purist minis are awesome because any of us can make them (especially us that have no customization talents). However, I love what you've done with the place. The line-up was great. My favorite was definitely Killer Croc. Is that an official Chima head? If so, I may have to pick up a Croc figure after all. I had no interest in the theme, but I may be changing my mind. And you made me want to pick up multiples of the CMF policeman even though I have no interest in him. I thought he could resemble Joseph Gordon-Levitt with that uniform. I am always thoroughly impressed. Keep up the great work.
  24. Fantastic work. I absolutely love the Wonder Woman custom. However, I love that X-Ray comic the best because of how accurate it would be.
  25. I like these architecture sets, but I haven't purchased any because too many other sets have called my name. I think TLG are doing a great job with the overall design though. The main problem is trying to justify spending $200 on one set (a reason I never purchased Tower Bridge or Town Hall as of yet). These little builds are detail packed and great display pieces, but it isn't my thing I guess. However, I completely understand others who do buy them and display them. I just wish I had more money (who doesn't?).
