Sonic the Hedgehog - Rumours and Discussion
danth replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Licensed
NICE! Thank you! -
Put together the real thing last night!
-
Amazing. It's like a sculpture or piece of art. But also a spaceship!
-
Nice! This would have been a highly desirable set if it existed. It's like a beefed up version of 1580 Lunar Scout. Or a smaller version of 6928 Uranium Search Vehicle.

Can someone confirm that the new Sonic sets (not including the Ideas set) have all prints and no stickers? -

The Love for Printed Pieces Thread/Sticker Resentment Thread
danth replied to danth's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Seems like all the Sonic sets (except the Ideas one) have all printed parts. At least it looks that way from the pics and Bricklink inventories for them don't include a sticker sheet. Can anyone confirm? Also, people are speculating the new Fabu...er Animal Crossing sets have all prints!- 183 replies

Yes! 6872 was part of my inspiration. Xenon X-Craft was the only other blue & gray space ship with a trans yellow windscreen after the original three. And it just packed in the goodness into such a small package. So many great parts, the rear storage, and even the robot. I have another version of this MOC more like 6872, with the gray engine & black rocket made out of new parts, but it's not done yet. I always assumed that the hinged panels on 6872 were supposed to be side walls for the underside of the cockpit. I know they aren't shown like that on the box...maybe the photographer didn't know? Yay, thanks! Thanks! My IRL friend also asked me that too. I guess I might have to now... Thanks! 😊

The flat trees just add to the Fabuland flavor for me.

I am so late to this party. Questions: Is it just torso printing? What about faces? Do they have any classic themed logos ready to use? Space, Black Falcons, etc? Will they get mad if you try to recreate an old Lego torso like Blacktron? How limited are the torso and leg color options? Are only yellow hands available?

This looks way better now that we have good pics. The shark rock is cool. The brick red & black tower seems like a color swap of Eldorado Fortress, swapping white for black to make it spooky or evil.

Thanks! "Runabout" might have been the exact word I was looking for when naming this thing, but I couldn't remember it. Yay, thanks! Yes, I agree, we need smaller sets too. Some of the Star Wars Microfighters are so nice that it makes me jealous - if only they put that kind of design effort into $10 unlicensed Space sets. Thanks! It turns out a 1x2 panel can pretty much eliminate that entire gap and seal the canopy. Here's a pic showing the panels in gray:

Hi all. This is something I whipped up in Stud.IO. The goal was to put a lot of 10497 style goodness into a small package. I don't know if I achieved that. I wanted tiles as wing edges attached at an angle with hinges, similar to the 10497 design, but ended up going off script a bit and used rail plates instead. Thanks for looking!

Space (Classic through M-Tron plus Ice Planet), Castle, Rock Raiders/Power Miners, Aqua Raiders/Atlantis, Dino 2012. Best themes right now IMO are Creator and Friends.
-
Cool! I like how you did the side intakes with the wedge plates above and below the grilled slopes. And the wraparound front windscreen.

OK, whaaat? This is too cute and should totally be a set. Love the modularity, especially the removable flatbed. The crane is great too.

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?
danth replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have a hard time telling old light gray and new light gray apart. I need to have them right next to each other with good lighting. I don't care at all that new Classic Space sets use new light gray. So if they brought back Trans Neon Orange, but it was very slightly different, and you could only tell with good lighting and when pieces were next to each other, I wouldn't care too much. Hell, trans colors already don't match even when they're supposedly the same color. But if they were like "Here's a Deep Freeze Defender remake with trans orange windscreens, close enough", there would be outrage. -
Works for me!

Love the Cobra Firebat/Terrordrome style launch dome. You're not afraid of using a curvy/rounded building style. Does that make this Neo Classic Space? And a bit of Neo Futuron too.
-
Big, angular, trans-blue windows for the win. They sure make this feel like Futuron. I especially like the building with the six matching blue windows arranged into three vertical columns.

Great detail. Looks like it could be a scene from Fifth Element or Blade Runner. I love that the robot is enjoying coffee and has the option of other assorted cocktails from the looks of it.

Very cool and scary, reminds me of a lady bug larva. But huge.
-
"Get away from her, you *BEEP*!" Nice job!

My favorite things about this: The green canopies. They look very nice with white. And who says Futuron 2 wasn't going to have green canopies? The second canopy for the "robot" like others have said. But is it a robot, or a satellite, or something else? It looks like a set that could have existed back then.
