LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Classic_Spaceman replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Does anyone else think that LEGO is testing a variety of Battle Packs/Battle Pack-type sets to see what configuration sells the best? We are getting a $20 pack with three Snowtroopers, a Snow Scout, an accurate speeder bike, a salvageable E-Web, and a useless pile of white bricks; then two $15 packs, one with three Hoth Rebel Troopers and a P-Tower, and another with three P1 Shinies and a forward command post. All of these are fairly safe choices (and mid-level, in terms of desirability), so it may be that LEGO is trying to figure out the best/most profitable combination of price, Minifig count, Minifig diversity, and build/part-count. 🤔 -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

The helmets are actually the 2019 Mars Exploration helmets, but they appear to be moulded in white/teal rather than white/black. -

We do have two BoBF sets coming out, but you are probably right: Someone on Instagram suggested that it may be for Nezha, who does appear in Journey to the West, and who is sometimes depicted as having hair similar to the leaked part. If this is the case, then the hole in the back is likely for a ribbon (see Hanzo and Genji). -

I just saw this; MK is a possibility, but so is Friends (the hole in the back suggests that it may be paired with a bow), and also possibly Star Wars (as it looks like a mix of Padmé’s, Leia’s, and Kaydel Connix’s various hairstyles). -

I know - I was referencing other possible ways that a Human could become a humanoid snail! TNG, TNG, Lower Decks, VOY (Tuvix). Details of another City space set have been revealed: Full Lunar subtheme (thus far): 60348 Moon Rover: €29.99 60349 Lunar Space Station: €59.99 60350 Moon Research Base: €99.99 60351 Rocket Launch Pad: $169.99 -
LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I was legitimately wondering how long it would take for this complaint to arise (and over the fact that the Minifig is a WoC, since no non-White female Rebels were shown on Hoth). Sigh. 😑 I sincerely hope that you are joking! 😬 -

Or they were de-evolved, or mutated by a parasite, or affected by a mood-intensifying alien cube, or somehow spliced with a snail in a transporter accident, or. . . -
That was my point - I think that the gender breakdown is 5-5-2, but even if we wanted to force every Minifig to have a binary gender (for some reason?), the colours would (stereotypically) make the breakdown 6-6. I meant that the ratio would be equal (rather than 5-7, male), no matter what. This is what I see, as well.

Are you referring to the Andorians? If so, I disagree; the VIDIYO aliens look more like Andorians than this Minifig (the only similarity that I see is that antennae). I am not really sure how I feel about the "snail-ien": Usually, I like getting references to Classic Space, but when compared to the rest of the figure, the Classic torso print just looks plain. I would have preferred a Classic-inspired design (see Cyber Drone droid), a solid purple Classic astronaut with an alien head, or something else entirely (like a Galaxy Squad or Insectoids reference). As it is, the design just feels muddled. 😕 -
The bag and leaflet have leaked! The bard has the Forestmen's hat recoloured in blue, which should be useful, and the "Moon Warrior" is an interesting surprise - She looks like an Elves villain in Minifig form. The "Snow Warrior" is not the warrior-Santa that many had feared, looking far more like Professor Karkaroff (mostly white, with some dark blue accents).

Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Heroica Hall
Classic_Spaceman replied to Waterbrick Down's topic in Heroica! The RPG!
"Mmm-Hmm. . . " Yelana murmured to herself, still twirling the chopstick. "I see. . . 'One last time'? Did you have a connection to the hotel, or were you just curious?" As Yelana ponders Heisenberg's words, Thorvald hands her her tea and croissant. Slipping the chopstick back into her hair, she takes a sip. "Nice, much stronger - Oh, and I see you got the microwave fixed. That reminds me - Who handles the tech issues around here? I've got a few. . . questions I'd like to ask." Yelana turned back to Heisenberg, still sipping her tea. "Not long - I've been on Ebria, what, six months? I've been with Heroica for like the past two-ish. I'm pretty experienced outside the guild, though; I'm a spy - I work for the organisation most people call 'The Triad' - tech-analysis, intel work, threat-assessment, all that cool shit. And that was before I started in the field", Yelana said with a smirk. She took a moment to eat a bit of her croissant and take another sip of tea. "What about you? What do you do?" -

Yelana recoiled her hand awkwardly, visibly uncomfortable. "The pleasure's all yours. . . " She bit her lip and took a chopstick out of her hair, pausing for a moment. "Heroica? Yeah, right now. . . What's your connection? Are you the guy up in the penthouse suite?" Yelana twirled the chopstick between her fingers as she waited for Thorvald to prepare her tea. -

I wonder if LEGO knew anything about this. The Wolverine mech seemed like a bit of a random choice in the absence of any tie-in media, but with the revival of the classic X-Men, it makes decidedly more sense. -
Heroica: Glory Amongst The Stars - Heroica Hall

Yelana had her head back and her feet up on the booth opposite her when the man's loud entry into the Hall jolted her out of her thoughts. She snapped up, her visor materialising in an instant, and scanned the unknown individual. "<Hmmm. . . Not exactly a merc type - Maybe a client?>", she thought, as she stood up and walked over to the bar. Sitting down diagonally opposite the new arrival, Yelana addressed Thorvald. "Could I get a cup of Crimson Chai - extra strong - with cream and Poojat sugar? And a croissant - Can you wrap it in a paper towel and microwave it for, like, 22 seconds? Wait. . . The microwave, 'Cook-Tron', whatever's, still scuffed, right? Nevermind; just the tea then - Thanks." She turned towards the man across from her and extended her hand. "Yelana Fennix - You new here?" From the intro to the LEGO Education videos that feature these Minifigs, the helmets appear to be the same white/black ones that were used in the 2019 sets (though the solid Dark Blue visors are new). I agree - There are far too many loopholes for this to be an actual, enforceable, rule. IMO, we are absolutely getting something space-related in 2022 (my bet is the 90th Anniversary set). LEGO pushing a decades-retired theme this hard (two puzzles and (at least) four plushies), particularly towards children with no nostalgic memories of the original sets, makes little sense as anything other than a tie-in for a new set (sets?). -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
We knew that LEGO can make (relatively) grounded shuttle/rocket sets for City and Creator, but this is the first explicitly-named[1] spaceship to appear in an action theme (which means that we could have gotten a space-themed season of Ninjago, since there is really no substantive difference between the MK rocket and a potential "Space Bounty"). Furthermore, the design of this set is in no way realistic (appearing more fantastical than many ships from actual space themes), so I am still failing to see where the supposed line is. Is it the orientation of the craft on the box? A spaceship can be made only if it is depicted as taking off vertically, as opposed to flying horizontally? If this is the case, why has LEGO not just made a theme based around "rockets" to circumvent this restriction? This is a rhetorical question; the terms of this (entirely hypothetical) deal with Disney are indistinguishable from the rules to Fizzbin at this point. [1]: LEGO has already made spaceships-in-all-but-name in non-space themes (e.g. White Dragon Horse Jet), hence my referring specifically to the set's name. @danth: BTW, I am curious to hear your thoughts on Alien Conquest - Does it count as a "space theme" by virtue of the aliens and their spacecraft, or do you consider it to be an "action theme" due to its setting on Earth and lack of Human spaceships? -
I am not sure, but it does make some sense. Both feature large-headed anthropomorphic animal characters, and Animal Crossing already has a large, established, fan base, so merging it with VIDIYO somehow could give the theme a much-needed boost in visibility and popularity. 🤔

LEGO Monkie Kid 2022
Classic_Spaceman replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Are you sure? It looks like regular yellow to me (with a bit of Bright Light Orange/"Chima Orange" on the wings). 🤔 I just looked at it again, and there could be a bit of the new solid neon yellow as accents, but the majority of the ship still appears to be yellow. -

It was 2002, not 2022. As for it being an Easter egg, it could be, but the lack of any connection to the setting (CNY) or year makes me sceptical. I meant that LEGO reuses City, Hidden Side, etc, torsos in CNY sets. -

Did anyone else notice that two of the figures in the ice festival have an update of the Ice Planet torso? It can be seen most clearly on the ice fisher (who also has a recolour of the ushanka piece in white/orange). -

That looks good, and the canopies are new in Trans-Red! Also, this further solidifies my stance that LEGO is not barred from making space themes, since at this point, the line between "space" themes and what LEGO chooses to produce is essentially nonexistent. I just noticed that the ice sculpture festival includes two Minifigs with updated Ice Planet torsos! I wonder if this means that we are getting an Ice Planet build/Minifig in the 90th anniversary set. 🤔 Edit: Looking at the other Minifigures, only three (not counting the tiger) appear to have new torsos, two of which can be reused in City, and none have new heads or hair. Judging by this, LEGO's past tendency to reuse Minifig pieces in CNY sets, and the fact that Ice Planet has absolutely nothing to do with CNY (so making a new torso just for an Easter egg here seems weird), I can confidently predict that we will be getting something related to Ice Planet next year (even if just as a jacket in City sets, or as part of a City Arctic subtheme). -
