  2. @Waterbrick Down: Character Point Questions: Dropping Spirit from 1 to 0 gains me 2 CP, and increasing Smarts from 2 to 4 (to gain an extra Proficiency) costs 4 CP, correct?
  3. On her way back from the Hall, Yelana passed through the Trade Bazar. Stopping at Sathos's Stimulants for a Plasma Potion, and Eb'Vo'nik's Equipment to get a Hacking Chip and a Translator Cube, she made her way to her apartment.
  4. Yelana dashed into the Hall, signed up for Missions #6 and #7, then hurried out.
  5. Thank you for the feedback - There is a lot here, so I am just going to respond in-line! This actually surprises me; I could understand "aggravating", or something of that nature, but I find it odd that Yelana comes across as combative. This is probably due to a disconnect between how I am trying to write her and how she is being read, but I actually intend for Yelana to be an upbeat, friendly, sarcastic type of person who prefers to out-think situations instead fighting (both physically and verbally). Could you provide some examples of times that she has come across as combative? That makes sense, and I can definitely scale back Yelana's overt allegiance to the Triad (which she should be doing anyway, so as not to blow her cover during missions!). This makes sense. 👍 Which things, specifically? I was under the impression that everything in the Library and Embassy threads was intended to be publicly-available information. I will definitely do this going forward. I think that I have been relying too heavily on Yelana's actions to convey my intentions with the character (a holdover from Mission Zero, when I tried to only use dialogue to specify actions! 😬). Thank you for pointing this out, as I never would have come to this conclusion otherwise! In my mind (and in Yelana's, since she and Zaria were on the same side at the time), I realised that Yelana had tools and Proficiencies that would make getting the bottle opener easier (which Zaria lacked). I was just trying to be helpful/collaborative, but I recognise (now!) that it took away from an opportunity for you to develop your character. How so? As I mentioned earlier in this post, I had intended to have Yelana come across as non-combative, so I obviously need to work on some aspect of her writing. Thank you! However, considering how technology-focused Yelana is as a character, I could have made her losing a hand work. I apologise! I definitely see now how that would be infuriating, but I honestly did not even consider how other players would feel about it (just their characters). It seems obvious in hindsight, so I will try to do better going forward! 😬 What you are referring to is actually Yelana communicating with her visor via voice-interface (the all-caps text is the response that she hears), which is an RP device that I was using to convey Yelana's actions/checks. It is also somewhat of a holdover from my dialogue-only approach in Mission Zero, and I can tone it down if it is going to be bothersome. (I can just have Yelana reconfigure her visor to have a neural interface (since it already has a psychic component to it), which actually dovetails nicely into the Empath class that I am considering for her. This is another intent-vs-interpretation issue: I had tried to write Yelana as flirting with Zaria in the Hall, as well as somewhat while on the train, so that is where this came from. 😐 OK. I had been trying to use italics to indicate voice inflections (in contrast to Zaria's more steady, stoic, style of speaking), to convey that Yelana is young and enthusiastic. I can see what you mean by overuse, though! I actually enjoyed writing it, since I feel like the times when Yelana was questioned or confronted gave me an opportunity to explain her motivations, thought-processes, plans, etc, in ways that I could not really otherwise. Intent-vs-interpretation, again! 😕 Yelana's success and pragmatism are reflected in her tendency towards thinking/talking her way out of problems, rather than just fighting. I think of her character as someone who enjoys outsmarting things (be they conflicts, puzzles, locks, or people) and gathering information. It is actually not - It just happened to be in this case. 😕 Yikes! Thankfully, while Yelana can be rather duplicitous and manipulative, she is explicitly not heartless (See her only using the stun setting on Pierce, for example)! 😬 That makes sense.
  6. Yelana should just have one Plasma Potion, since she used one to heal Soren.
  7. Yelana looked at 'Irgonstead', then at Soren. "I'm not arguing, and I'm surprised that after almost bleeding to death, you'll be satisfied with just a 25 Cred increase."
  8. Yelana crossed her arms. "I'd argue for full payment - We had the cube, and Soren almost got killed protecting it; we just couldn't get it off the train with the SPs swarming around every few minutes. Not to mention you deliberately withheld critical information. . . " OoC:
  9. "That's not what it seemed like - With their drone already on the train and our tickets taken before we arrived, I think we were the 'hedge'." "I already told you - When you send two teams after the same target, and you don't coordinate in any way, they fight. Fighting, as well as excessive use of breaching charges, draws attention - And when all this is happening on a train full of rich asshoIes on their way to corporate central, SP gets called in to protect their interests." Yelana snaps her hand back. "And why's that?" OoC:
  10. Yelana remained standing at the edge of the conference table, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. "I'll cut to the chase, 'Irgonstead' - Why'd you send a second team? We had it handled, but the fight that broke out cost us the cube; you should've sent just us, or just them - They had the cube too, but they lost it to us. The ensuing shitshow got the Space Police involved, and now the cube's safely in M-Tec's hands. And more importantly, who the hells are you? I know 'Leopold Irgonstead' is not your real name, and how would some middle-manager in the Mahkrian system get access to intel on something like this, anyway?" Yelana reached over the table, picked up Kish's Journal, and began reading through it.
  11. "Alright. The cube contains a Hungry Ghost. Zaria, you can verify this: The 'source' was harvested on a moon of Aluriel, and Aluriel's government was given near-exclusive access to the technology to harness power from this 'source'. M-Tec, who've been working alongside the Thaumaturgic Society to reverse-engineer the Nendaran Æthergate, would have the ability to construct a containment unit for something as radioactive as a Hungry Ghost, and considering their mistreatment of their Undead workers, harnessing the energy of a Hungry Ghost is pretty on-brand for them. This also explains project's name - 'Exousía'; power over others. The name wasn't referring to the power in the cube; it was referring to the cube's technology itself." Yelana took a breath, sipped her tea, and sighed. "If I'd been able to get hold of the cube, I could've taken it somewhere secure. The technology could've been analysed, and the ghost could've been freed safely - As it is, M-Tec's going to profit off exploiting yet another Undead population, Aluriel will be complicit, and there's nothing we can do about it. We have no physical proof of any kind, and since we failed to contain the tech now, this shit's going to continue until it hits the godsdamn fan. And who knows what'll happen then." Yelana scans the Credits into her wallet. "Thanks. . . "
  12. "Oh, ha ha." Yelana took another sip of her tea. "Thanks. . . I really appreciate that. I'm sorry for not trusting you earlier."
  13. Yelana spoke up, after ensuring that the party was alone in the dining car. "You figure out what's in the cube, yet?"
  14. "Ah, thank you!" Yelana takes the cup and begins sipping it, while leaning against the counter.
  15. Yelana scanned the dining car for ingredients with which to make Crimson Chai.
  16. "You'd actually call me the 'K-word'?! I just, I can't!" Yelana threw her hands into the air with a scoff and walked out into the dining car.
