LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
The cockpit will almost certainly be larger (either the GE canopy or the Invader GWP one), so we have our two pilots accounted for; the storage compartment at the back will be larger as well, so there may be room for 1-2 more Minifigs back there. -

An unclasped hood? Where are you seeing that (Ninjago has them in dark blue)? -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
If we get a Marvel CMF S3, my guesses for who from the show appears would be 1.) Goddess of Thunder Storm, 2.) Kahhori (still missing her from S2), 3.) bird-girl (no idea who she is!), and 4.) Red Guardian (since his suit can be reused for the Sacred Timeline version seen in Black Widow); a Skrull S.H.I.E.L.D. agent would be cool, but I doubt that LEGO would make someone so minor (especially when we are still missing important characters like Mobius!). Thunderbolts* looks great! Tasky still seems to be absent for most of the film, so she either dies early or betrays the team and sides with Val (personally hoping for the latter!); Red Guardian being the one to insist on the "Thunderbolts" name makes me think he may actually not die, since I would assume that the rest of the team would take up the name in his honour (unless they become the New Avengers by avenging his death?). I highly doubt that the movie will be R-rated - Not only is that not necessary for the story and would cut out a decent number of people who saw and liked these characters in other media, if it were going to be R-rated, the trailers would have leaned into that. As it is, the movie seems to be a high PG-13 at most, with nothing particularly off-putting to LEGO (the violence is basically the same as any other MCU movie, and other movies that contain mild profanity have gotten sets). We already got Captain Carter twice, so I can see LEGO leaving her out; the cowboy variants are a bit too niche for LEGO to make (as they have less broad appeal than regular superheroes), though I could see us getting Superior Ironheart (unless we get her regular Sacred Timeline version in the same series, which is likely). -

The GE still stayed on the side of Classic Space, rather than straying into Neo-Classic territory (as the Exo-Suit did), and the clean, sleek, lines gave the model a sort of simplicity in its design (though not in its construction!). I do agree that the Invader got Majisto's Workshopped somewhat and stuck more closely to the original design and dimensions, however! Same! I want something like the LKC or PoBB that really brings the model and Minifigs (and thereby, the theme overall) into the modern era! -

Blacktron (and the other Space factions) is tricky to update, since their simple printing was just a product of design constraints when they were released; Classic Space was not intended to be simplistic either, but the monochrome suits and chest logo became iconic because of their charm, despite LEGO's original intent (LEGO "updated" the CS suits as soon as they could do so, which we see with Futuron). Unlike with Classic Space, the appeal of Blacktron I Minifigs (and those of other Space factions) does not derive from their quaint simplicity, but from the details and functions implied by the printing present and the overall context of the subthemes. As such, I would like to see LEGO actually update the Blacktron I suit to modern standards, rather than just replicating the OG like they did for the GWP (I was actually disappointed when I saw that LEGO had not taken the opportunity to update the suit in the Invader GWP, despite the figure itself still being nice). -

IP-locked elements seem to be able to be used in non-licensed sets, but not sold individually on PAB (considering that the City Space '24-'25 blue astronauts use a jetpack piece that was originally created for First Order Jet Troopers, and theirs is the only back element that is not available on PAB). It will only end up on PAB if/when it appears in a regular set. If we get a Creator set with the shield, or even a GWP (as their unique pieces sometimes end up on PAB, but this is not consistent!), then it will be available from PAB ~4-6 months after release. -
Not counting Christmas sweaters and licensed characters' outfits, most LEGO sweater torso pieces are Earth tones (tan, dark tan, brown) and have classic argyle or cable-knit patterns, a few are red, one is light blue/dark blue/white, and one is green with light yellow - The only more oddly-coloured one is this (magenta/pink/purple), but it does not seem to correspond to anything. The cat lover's sweater is in the style of a classic 'ugly Christmas sweater', but the colours are not Christmas-related at all - Given the immediate recognition by multiple members (myself included) of these colours as being those of the Trans Pride flag, I highly doubt that the choice was accidental! BTW, I like this, and I want to see more things like it (Pride shirts or pins in City sets, for example)! Gender is difficult to represent in LEGO form, as Minifigs are abstractions that often need to rely on stereotypes to convey gender (e.g. lipstick and eyelashes to indicate that a particular Minifig is female), and sexuality is nearly-impossible to convey outside of the relatively-rare wedding or household settings - Pride merch/colours on clothing is a good way to have LGBTQ+ inclusion with anonymous City or CMF Minifigs. Which other ones have there been? This one is the most noticeable, as it puts the colours into stripes that resemble the flag itself.

[OFFICIAL] Pirate Quartermaster - Collectible Minifigure Series 27
Classic_Spaceman replied to zinnn's topic in LEGO Pirates
Legs are not mid-size; the leaflet is bent at the bottom, which makes her (and Steampunk guy) look short. The quality of the fabric skirt remains to be seen, but I like it (and it is a nice reassurance that capes are not going to be entirely rubber from here on!); also, it does not appear to be so critical to the design that it cannot be removed if you so choose. The hair is not bad (and it does work for a pirate), but I do wish that we had actually gotten a new mould instead of a City/Friends part reuse. The "Quartermaster" name came from the initial text leak (which may not have even originally been in English!), so the intent may have been something more akin to "Tavern Wench" (which fits her vibe better). She is wearing a skull-and-crossbones medallion on her necklace and has a compass tucked into her belt, so yeah, I think so! The pic is blurry, but I assume that the leg printing is meant to represent the folded tops of pirate boots (or loose fabric pants being tucked into boots). -

Classic Blacktron I is probably a pilot, since the torso print is a flight harness! If we get updated designs (which I am torn about - I want updated Blacktron I Minifigs, but I also want compatibility with the Invader GWP!), I want both the pilots and crew to have some armour (chestplate, knee pads, etc), and the pilots to have their iconic harnesses; I would also like to see the Blacktron I insignia integrated into the design somewhere, such as in the centre of the chest or as a belt buckle (since they are one of the few factions not to have their logo on their uniforms!). Maybe something like the SP1/M:Tron/Blacktron II updated designs, with piping on the torsos and knee plates on the legs; chestplate armour printing on the top half of the torso, with the grey belt on the bottom? Hoses would be nice, but it could make the design a bit cluttered, so maybe armour and harness for the pilots, and just armour for the crew? I would also like to see either a reuse of the black Nexo Knights helmet from the CMF or a recolour of the City space helmet in black (with dark grey or PDG as the neck colour, depending on the torso/leg accents), rather than a reuse of the motorcycle helmet! -

A pouch on the torso is unlikely, as the belt is on the legs (and the legs almost certainly do not have one either, since the (Minifig's) right side has a fold in the mail shirt, while the left side only has mail printing). My assumption is that the hood is IP-locked. 😕 -

Nice! Did the leaker specify any difference between the pilot and crew Minifigs? Also, will the set include any droids? The original Renegade did not have one, but neither did the Galaxy Explorer; if the ships are similar in size, I can see us getting a beefed-up rover and a droid as side-builds. -

LEGO has only made sets after the fact for movies that have performed extremely well (Endgame, NWH, Iron Man 1), as well as revisiting past Infinity Saga films that have gotten sets (Avengers, AoU, Thor: Ragnarok, etc) - In order to get Thunderbolts* sets, the movie will need to be popular enough to justify merch 1-2 years after the movie’s release! -

That looks excellent! The silver under the collar seems to be chainmail, with the mail shirt extending down over the legs; the brown torso seems to be a padded leather tunic, given the stitching and lack of extension onto the legs. Arms and legs are dual-moulded and printed, the shield is obviously a must-have, and the wolf looks great! He (and the pirate) may be worse than the paladin, since the DnD series was all hits, while Series 27 is mostly passes (or ones to just pick up 1-2 of). -

Classic_Spaceman replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Very interesting! I am obviously going to remain sceptical about a Blacktron II set (even a GWP), but this is sounding very promising! The challenge for doing Blacktron II as a GWP is the limited number of recolours and new prints that are available (I think the max is two, with both the Invader and Majisto's Workshop getting front/back torso printing), so even using trans-bright green would still require more 'changes' than GWPs normally allow (unless the unleaked Dreamzzz sets have more canopies in trans-bright green!); at best, we would get a set with no canopy (or one that can be replicated with in-production parts) and a direct remake of the OG Minifig but with a trans-bright green visor and no back printing. 🫤 So does this mean that the rumoured Blacktron II item is 1HY? Or is the only thing for which we have concrete evidence the Blacktron I remake set, and Blacktron II is just more or less a guess at this point? I am wondering if we might see Blacktron II in Dreamzzz - We have only seen one Minifig villain (neon yellow and purple colour-scheme), but the spiders are white-and-black, and the neon video game setting suits Blacktron II quite well. Maybe "Blacktron" and "Blacktron: Future Generation" are retro (80's/90's) video games in the Dreamzzz universe (as Ninjago is an animated show), and one of the villains of this season is a Blacktron II astronaut (or at least features pieces that can be used to make one)? 🤔 -
Which set is it? Overall, the best times to buy are during double Insiders Points events, when desirable GWPs are available, and when there are sales at other retailers (Amazon, Target); sales usually happen closer to the end of a set’s lifespan, so watch those retirement dates!

Good point - I forgot that the City Space ‘24-‘25 base is $135! By that metric, the Message Intercept Base would have to be around $200 (especially if it had any side-builds!). Renegade is looking like the most likely option now, unless LEGO goes with Blacktron II and gives us an updated Aerial Intruder. -

Not yet. Maybe early 2HY 2025, since the poll was in May 2024 (assuming the standard 1.5-2 year development cycle). -

Pics should leak any day now, with the release being January 2025! I would guess that the official reveal will be in December, potentially before Christmas (to allow for preorders). Do we have confirmation that the set is specifically Blacktron I, and that it is a vehicle of some sort? The Renegade makes sense (more so than Alienator or Battrax - Neither of which warrant a $110 price point!), though I can also see it being the Message Intercept Base (potentially with Alienator side-build?). -

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Classic_Spaceman replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As far as I am aware, Lucas never considered TFU to be Canon! We have conflicting information about the Night Trooper BP - A fake leaker posted about it, but the info may also have come from a legit source? A Night Trooper battle pack is a pretty safe bet, so even I would ‘predict’ that we will get one - When it actually happens, and who it includes, remains to be seen! As an aside, the most logical companion set would be a LAAT/le patrol gunship with Ezra (reuse), Sabine (reuse but with printed arms), Captain Enoch, and two Night Troopers (one reuse, one new from the BP); the build would be the gunship and a Howler for Sabine. -

An easy one (as LEGO tends to keep dual-moulded parts as two different colours when recolouring them) would be an inversion of the current sheep - White head and legs, black body.- 5,876 replies

The CS spacemen in that ad had the colours of the Pride flag, so there was actually a reason for the colour choices. Now that I think of it, the reason that we got a brown spaceman in the CMF was probably so that we could continue to fill out EIA (the only missing colour now is the light blue seen on the sticker, and technically bright green)!
