Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
New chain piece confirmed! I am not sure how I feel about the mask (especially after 2024's beautiful dragon headdress piece!); it looks more snek than snake, TBH. -
2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
Classic_Spaceman replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I suspect that the prize machine faction will remain exclusive, at least until the next 18+ Castle set (2026 at the earliest); if we get a Creator Castle set in 2025, it will probably feature Lion Knights (and maybe a Wolfpack bandit). We will get descriptions of the set, blurry pics of the box, and physical Minifig leaks, all before the official reveal! -

It is a different colour, but it also seems to line up rather coincidentally with one of the prize machine options. -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

We may have seen which colour of Classic Space spaceman won the poll! The newly-revealed CNY trotting lantern set has a sticker with a light blue spaceman on it; while light blue was not one of the options, dark azure was. I remember seeing a lot of hype for dark azure when the poll came out, so it would make sense to me if it won. -

1.) Yes - Main Street Mafia here on Eurobricks! 2.) Yes. 3.) LEGO, obviously! 4.) I do not have a preference. -
LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Classic_Spaceman replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Boba actually fired his blaster in his first film appearance, while Phasma did not. Also, Boba ironically benefitted from having less screen time/lines in ESB than Phasma did in TFA - What little we get do of him (tracking the Falcon to Cloud City, his brief firefight with Luke) combined with the handful of lines from and about him (“No disintegrations.”, “What if he doesn’t survive? He’s worth a lot to me.”, etc) give him just enough characterisation while preserving his overall mysterious badass vibe. Moreover, Boba actually won in his first appearance - He successfully tracks the Falcon to Cloud City, then escapes with Han to collect his bounty! Phasma never gets a win, so it is difficult to take her seriously. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well, yeah. I am really disappointed that LEGO did not keep the CMF wing mould around, since they have included Falcon in multiple sets since then, so it is clear that they would have had opportunities to use it! -
I was not suggesting that he be removed - I was just brainstorming some ideas for additions to the movie that would make the events of the actual film feel less contrived. Bane would obviously still be there, and establishing his partnership with Talia (as Red Hood) early keeps the eventual Miranda Tate twist from undermining him. I think they could still have included him by just showing him from the back (maybe facing the back wall of his cell, laughing to himself?).

Not bad, though it does not appear to be accurate to Sam’s helmet-less design (just goggles), and it will probably look weird with that hair since the back print is exposed. IMO it works better as a version of the helmet without the breathing mask section. -
Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
Classic_Spaceman replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Though they are getting better, LEGO’s Minidoll themes are more stereotypically girl-coded (Friends, Disney Princesses, Wednesday, Wicked, etc), while the Minifig themes are more boy-coded (City, Ninjago, Star Wars, Superheroes, etc). This is my point - LEGO believes that certain demographics prefer Minidolls, while others prefer Minifigs. Looking at which themes have gotten which ‘fig types, vikings and dragons are more likely to fall into the demographic that prefers Minifigs. -
TDKR feels like a first draft of a better movie that was just filmed as-is. It has good ideas (introducing Robin, villains taking over Gotham, etc), but the execution is extremely forced (All of the GCPD is ordered into the sewers? Really?). Ironically, I also think TDKR needed more villains (in addition to more development for Talia), since half of Batman’s rogues gallery working together to take over Gotham makes more sense than just one guy (especially since “Miranda Tate” was primarily focused on destroying Bruce Wayne). Something like this would have worked: In the years since Batman disappeared, crime in Gotham has flourished. New players are filling the vacuum left by the Joker’s destruction of the mob (Penguin), some angry Gothamites have begun to idolise the Joker and his reign of chaos (Harley Quinn), and criminals overall have begun to adopt a ‘freak’ aesthetic (Riddler). Seeing this, a young GCPD officer named Robin John Blake decides to take matters into his own hands (inspired by Batman), and goes out at night dressed in a leather jacket and military surplus gear (changing Robin’s traditional red/green/yellow to dark red/olive green/tan). When Talia arrives in Gotham to take revenge for the death of her father, she assembles the various rogues of the city under the mantle of the Red Hood (the OG one, not Jason Todd) and spends the better part of Batman’s absence undermining the GCPD and laying the groundwork for an eventual takeover of the city; as “Miranda Tate”, Talia directly targets Bruce Wayne and his assets during this time as well.

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Classic_Spaceman replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The bigger problem for me is that she never got any screen time just being a badass, so despite looking cool, whenever she showed up she just ended up being defeated easily. I can partially forgive her general absence from TFA, as she was a later addition, but giving her less time in TLJ (and killing her off!) was a major missed opportunity! Also, I very firmly believe that she should have been who Finn fights on Takodana, instead of FN-2199 (“TR-8R”) - Phasma would have an obvious reason for being angry at Finn, the scene would have established her hand-to-hand combat skills, and her being shot with the bowcaster (only surviving because of her chromium armour) would explain why she just rolls over when Chewie has it pointed at her head. -

Oh, I am well aware that gendered toys are arbitrary, stereotypical, distinctions, and that gender does not determine what you can (and do) like! I just mean that LEGO will probably put the IP with vikings and dragons into the “boy” category and use Minifigs for the sets. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Classic_Spaceman replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I am good with either of these - Marvel has (and will have, by 2HY) new characters and notable gaps in previous CMF lineups (Mobius, Falcon (red/white), Strange Supreme, Ms. Marvel, Daredevil (red/yellow), etc!), and Fortnite is an absolute goldmine of Minifig content! Agreed; two Fortnite ‘Bandmates’ series each year (one per HY) would be excellent, and would allow us to get a decent number of skins without missing out on other licensed CMFs (DnD, Marvel, etc)! -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Futuron, Mars Mission, SP3, and Galaxy Squad all use a white/black base colour-scheme, so Town/City space port is not unique in that regard. Additionally, these colours are not “City-coded” as much as they are just generally space-coded (even Classic Space was initially going to use white wings but the parts were not available for the early waves, and subsequent waves gave us a white/blue colour-scheme), since real-world spacecraft have been using these colours since basically the beginning of the Space Race! The one point I will somewhat concede is on the canopies, since trans-orange (or trans-dark purple, for a more 90’s vibe!) would be a more traditionally “Space theme coded” pick; that said, however, I do like how the (new) trans-black canopies look in-person, especially since they have a very nice bluish tint that ties into the sand blue accents quite well. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I am fairly sure that the Leader’s plans revolve around pitting allies against each other in order to throw the world into chaos; Sam!Cap will be trying to prevent a war, not start/fight one, so using an already-adversarial country would undermine that. -

A couple of Lunar New Year sets have leaked, and one has a new chain piece! The part has two attachments (one on each end) that are similar to the tassel piece, with a single link connecting them; based on what I can see of the set’s construction, the ends have bar connections rather than studs. This should be useful for flails: DnD mace head or Technic ball, 1x1 round plate with hole, lightsaber hilt, 3L bar. Hopefully we get a new spiked mace/flail head in a future CMF! I doubt that it will be, since Minidolls are used for “girl’s themes”; HTTYD would be considered a “boy’s theme” (from what I know of the property), so Minifigs are definitely on the table! -
I agree, but only because I want a proper Space theme! If that is not an option, I am willing to have Space be a recurring City subtheme - Especially since the Space Port subtheme was beginning to feel stagnant due to real-world technology (other subthemes get increasingly modern vehicles, new colour-schemes, etc; space port has had basically the same rockets and shuttles for the past 30+ years!).

I assume so. Weird that it is absent, though, considering that Iron Patriot, Killian, and Igor are all included! -

Ah! I see it now. 👍 That looks pretty mid, IMO. I like the new Iron Man suits, but the MK. 42 should have been gold (unless I am just assuming it is there, and the suit in the back is another one); Iron Patriot may not have printed legs (if so, WTF?!), Pepper is the reuse but with inaccurately-coloured hair, and Killian reuses Cap’s head! I am happy that we get Killian’s final battle torso, though (I had hoped we would), and the Igor build is decent as well. The Hall modules are a slightly-modified version of the ones from the 2022 set, which I do like (since the whole point is to be able to connect the sets!). -

Possibly, but that would mean that the set includes another new part (Sam’s Cap goggles are a bit different from his Falcon ones, IIRC), which seems doubtful to me. 🫤 Sam does have a printed helmet (Cap helmet), but ironically, this is one of the few times that using the Invincible Iron Man helmet would have been a better choice - Sam’s helmet would be smoother and more accurate to the movie design, we could get an alternate goggles head underneath, and this would have used exactly the same number of ‘changes’ as the actual Minifig has (printed helmet in an existing colour, printed head)! -
2025/26 Castle [wishlist/speculation]
Classic_Spaceman replied to GreenhouseBricker's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Where did you see this? The tapestry in the weaver’s shop is just another Yellow Castle/Classic Castle era reference, not a hint to the next set. The Yellow Castle needs to be yellow! Also, LEGO has made multiple references to the YC in recent sets (the model in the LKC, the tapestry in the MTS), so I think we can consider it to be canonically yellow. As for reimagining it as a desert castle, I would rather just get a full Middle Eastern-inspired Castle faction (with an updated version of the PoP helmets that includes moulded chainmail to cover the back of the head), rather than just a tan reskin of a classic set. Also, we are not getting all of the original factions in a desert version of the Yellow Castle! 😬 While LEGO would never associate Castle with GoT (I still think the series is what put the theme on ice for the better part of a decade!), but a “The LEGO Castle Movie” would be fun. I do think that a large-scale Castle story would be better suited to a show, however, but that would need to be less focused on internal politics in order to interest kids! A gold Microscale Yellow Castle would be more likely (along with a gold Galaxy Explorer, a gold BSB, etc), since an entirely-gold Yellow Castle would look more like Trump Castle! 🤮 -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Ah, good point! It is unlikely that the designers switched her head, since that change would need to be reflected on the box art and instructions (and if LEGO were making changes to those, they could have just swapped her for someone else), and because the new head looks less like Ruth in the movie than other heads that are already in production do. Also, if LEGO did not replace Namor’s head with an accurate one in the BP:WF sets, I doubt that they would do so for a much less significant character! I wonder how far back LEGO designed the set/what materials they had to work with, since the head looks more like comics Sabra than MCU Ruth IMO. 🫤 -

That jet looks no less weird in HD pics, and Sam and Torres unfortunately have brickbuilt wings (with stickers!). 😕 I do like that we get helmet printing for Sam, though the lack of an alternate head and hair for him is disappointing (considering that there are a number of scenes in the trailer where Sam is just wearing his goggles); Torres’s head is decent, though the inclusion of a visor piece is odd since the head also has a visor printed on. Ironically, these pics drop the day after I bought those exact dual-moulded legs from PAB (because I was sure that LEGO would give Sam plain ones!), but good to see nonetheless; Torres needs printed legs, however, since the plain ones make his suit look less armoured than it really is. Red Hulk is obviously the star of the set, and he looks great (as expected)! Ruth 100% is based on concept art (she just wears a leather jacket in the trailer), and she may originally have had powers in the movie (as the back of the box shows her flying); that said, her torso is pleasantly inaccurate to Sabra’s comics design, and generic enough to be reused for someone else (I am thinking of putting this torso onto Black Widow’s legs for Mockingbird!). I am genuinely surprised that Ruth got a new head print (which is not even particularly accurate to her movie appearance - Ellie Sattler’s head would be better!), so I am assuming that it is actually a reuse from a currently-unleaked set (maybe Star Wars or Harry Potter?). Sidewinder (Giancarlo’s character) would have been a great addition, and would only have needed one new print (the torso) since his head can be reused from Moff Gideon! Leader and/or Diamondback absolutely should have been included, though they would require more new elements. Ideally, we would have gotten two sets for CA:BNW - Sam (helmet) and Torres vs. Red Hulk and Diamondback, and Sam (goggles) vs. Leader and Sidewinder. Unfortunately, while I doubt that BNW will underperform to the degree of The Marvels (which was hit by review-bombing and lack of publicity due to ongoing strikes (IMO Marvel should have just delayed the movie!), in addition to the overall quality), I doubt that it will be enough of a hit to get a follow-up set in 2HY 2026 (the earliest that we can expect one); our best chance for the Leader is Marvel CMF S3, though even that is not a guarantee with S1/S2 being focused on the D+ shows. 🫤
