  1. I'm a recent Dark-Age leaver and it's completely sad to see how much have I missed, even digitally. archive.org is my only hope for digitally history, but unfortunately only like 5% of the LDD's were mirrored, maybe less. Storage is very cheap now, but it still costs money. Money that could be received by ads, but I'm guessing there's also a technical limitation of attaching files to this forum. Still.. it's sad, and mostly un-reversible. It's like history, people don't learn from it.
  2. *delete* plz*
  3. Yes, I'm planning on building a 7760 with cheaper parts, 500 EUR for a used model is just crazy ! Do you have a parts list so it could be inputted into BrickLink? Or better yet, a digital model? Cheers and again, great work !
  4. Sorry to be against the tide but.. I'm not really fond of it :( I'm an 80's guy and I like fairly simple builds. This has too much.. bling? Anyways it will be a classic "shut up and take my money" set, like the new Barracuda set or the Crocodile or the Medieval Blacksmith. Now we only need a really good Castle..
  5. While Google Drive is a fine alternative, a cloud is just other's people computers. Git can be cumbersome for a non-experienced user, so I just "Save as.." and give sequential numbers. I've lost count how many times that happened when I was a noobie starting with computers in Windows 3.1 and especially 95 ;) Actually I've just did this to an image file I was constructing with a lot of LEGO stickers so I can go tomorrow to print in adhesive paper :D Sticker-01.xcf, Sticker-02.xcf, etc. On-topic, I'd just go with other people's opinion and state that it is really an expensive hobby. My suggestion would be for you to focus on one theme only (in this case Trains), because if you try to diversify a lot, (very) soon you'll end up with no money and with plenty of frustration ;)
  6. Medieval Blacksmith. For an AFOL of the 80's it's hard to pass on this Castle-like sets.
  7. Those are excellent tips, thank you. @brummer and @Andy Glascott I'm using an X-acto and it seemed to improve the situation a bit, maybe I'll try with a larger blade knife. @Black Knight I do want to use 12v in the future although sets' prices keep getting more and more expensive. Maybe it's the collectors that are pushing the market rather than pure hobbyists, I don't really know. I also did not knew that that Power Pickup part could be used to power a 12v, any tutorial I could follow in order to learn how to do that? Cheers / MfG
  8. Hello again everyone. I'm trying to give a second shot at 12v but I'm facing some loose contact from the cable to the transformer, as seen in this video: I don't have a spare cable attached to a track to test so I don't know if the issue is in the trafo or in the cable. I suspect both, as the holes in the trafo also show some signs of rust. Does cleaning with an Electric-contact spray helps remove the rust? I'm also planning on using that spray to try to lubricate the only 12v motor we have, fingers crossed !
  9. This is an impressive diorama, as many have said, it fully captures 12v spirit. Congratulations! Wish I had the space and time to build something like this, cannot even build something as small as the fuel station built on moon baseplate on 7777 ideas book. At least I bought and read your book Holger :D
  10. Woah, I've never even known that the metal contacts beneath a 12v motor could be replaced ! Many thanks for the tip ! I'm also relatively new to the community, and also bought a 7745, and also had all stickers. Also the contacts on the bottom of the motor did wear out and I tried to clean them the best I could with IPA. To clean the track I just used a common orange rubber, works a treat. @harry27, You mean if one get another controller, it can be connected to another part of the closed layout and it won't interfere with each other? If so, it's good to know, thanks.
  11. Finally it's my time to contribute to the community. I'm no Linux developer but was able to run BlueBrick on Linux using PlayOnLinux (POL). Despite its need for .NET Framework 4.0, it will only run with "dotnet45" package installed on the wineprefix. I had installed first the package "dotnet40" and it won't run (CLR 80004005). Just create a wineprefix in POL, click "configure" on the left menu and choose "dotnet45" under the tab "Install components". Many thanks for Alban for this great software.
  12. Disabling window management didn't work, however creating a virtual desktop more or less fixed the issue. Thank you, appreciated.
  13. Hello there. I just installed on Linux Mint 19.2 (which is based on Ubuntu 18.04) and everything works out of the box. Unfortunately I'm also stumbled upon the same bug: as soon as I switch to another application, once I return to Stud.io I won't accept any input, either via mouse or keyboard. Another than that, looks good. Thank you Wine team !
  14. Lego was my favorite toy in the childhood, ans Asterix my favorite video cartoon. This MOC gives me 100% nostalgia for me, great work ! Now, just put obelix near panoramix's potion, just to hear him moan about him falling into it when he was small :D
  15. Very nice work again Sérgio, you really are talented, keep it up !
  16. I have the same gripe on B&P, the cart doesn't even persist among sessions, and also the impossibility of merging orders from S&H makes me wonder what in the world is going on in LEGO's IT department.
  17. There's also NO train station available to buy from S&L at the moment. And don't tell me kids do not want it, because my kids do ! I am not jumping in any negativity wagon here, but simply pointing out some flaws in market strategy from Lego. How come there are hundreds of sets, but not even one train station?
  18. I got tired of waiting, but forking 300+ EUR for a used set in which ZERO money goes to LEGO.. humm I can spend 6x times less than that and also doesn't cost ZERO money to LEGO. My patience is running out.. tick tack
  19. I'm sorry to dig this up but this has to be one of the most beautiful MOCs I've ever seen. Congrats for the awesome work! That monorail is simply amazing on those M-tron colors
  20. What did I buy today? This song should give you a clue :
  21. Just went through all pages of this thread and learn so much about the many possibilities with Lego train control, thank you all for being so kind, it all seems like a dream to me. I don't want to clutter this thread so let me say that I agree with @treczoks that some way to unify this much information is needed. Let me also just say that if someone work is needed in Android programming for the trains I can step in and help in any way needed. Cheers
  22. There's only one thing better than playing Lego. On the topic, I only buy what I need to, not more. :P
