  1. 18th century camo :D
  2. Haha I hope you don't learn too much from the bluecoats' bad example. Honorable Corlanders would put up a fight! They have bayonets after all Thanks! I'm a big fan of those clear minifig posing elements. They allow for all sorts of scene staging and present a fun angle for mounting architectural elements. Thanks! Yeah after @KotZ made that corporal punishment Corrington build I figured it was time to poke fun at the bluecoats! Thanks! I got the idea for the backpacks from @quiriacus on Instagram. It uses the 2x2 TLG rubber belt to attach the suitcase and technic pin. I really like the different colors made available by interchangeable parts. I saw the pizza tiles / quarter round tiles used as fungus by @BardDandelion and figured I should give it a try! Thanks! I saw @Kai NRG's recent kite build on Instagram and figured I'd try a brown base with green on top
  3. Some more fantastic colors! Good job. I've used that pentagonal pattern on floors before, but never on a roof - will have to try that! Hope TLG makes some of your fun-colored items a reality (olive scrolls, bright light green goblets, white tri-leaf plants, etc).
  4. Fantastic colors! The telescopes work really well as a tapering effect at the bottom of the awning. A geologist is a great idea!
  5. The tulips abound! Nice one! The sack as a dress is really inventive and looks interesting. I think the columns on either side of the front door look awesome. The idea of the scrolls as shelf supports is good, though I wonder if they would have looked better with a gap in between (scrolls on the ends with some empty space in the middle of the bottom).
  6. Nice one! I've been admiring this on Flickr for a few weeks. The upstairs chair is fantastic, and nice usage of rings. The sword display is pretty fun! The sack as a covered head is hilarious. Is that mouse with the different colored tail an official TLG piece?
  7. Haha another fun silly build Nice work The scrolls work well as shelf supports
  8. Yeah I've found that too when trying to get a few select pieces in specific colors! For new DUPLO bricks and tiles TLG is charging more than $1. And then at a thrift store or yard sale you can get a whole bag for $5 (usually not the hard-to-find colors like dark tan or dark orange, tho)
  9. Two soldiers encounter a bear while on patrol
  10. The two soldiers were out for a patrol from Fort Arltrees. As they entered a small stand of trees, they came across a cute baby bear. They tossed it some cheese and then came close to pet its head. Then the mama bear appeared. As they fled for their lives, the soldier in front remembered something his cousin had told him as a child: "You don't need to run faster than the bear to get away, you just need to run faster than the guy behind you". With this in mind, he tossed his musket aside and ran a little faster.
  11. Perhaps some Irish lads Thanks! Yeah torsos are made by brickguild.ca Duplo is cheap at yard sales when kids turn 5
  12. I see some similarities with Grenouille, but yours definitely takes it in an original direction! Great work
  13. Another hilarious one. Good work! The lime / dark green in the water somehow do an excellent job at making it look murky
  14. As the field marshal went from soldier to soldier looking for the slightest bend in their posture, he thought to himself, "it's good to be in charge".
  15. I'd recommend getting the medium nougat hulls on Bricks and Pieces using points. Can also pick up sheep, boot pant legs, cannons, rigging, misc vegetation and pieces
  16. Cool! Love the angle of the bridge and the tiny telescope trees. Nice colors and contrast
  17. Looks great! The cheese slopes make it very dynamic
  18. Haha I thought about trying that, but only have 4 of those gray ones. I have some green ones too so I was thinking they could be moss on the gray roof Maybe some day Definitely looks better from the back because the inside of the tiles is visible from the front. I am going to try that suitcase method too that Matt Rich has been showing on Instagram - just need some TLG rubber bands! Thanks! The most expensive piece on the roof was definitely the plumes, but they weren't too bad coming directly from lego.com - the other elements were cheap on BL Thanks! Haha yeah the wigs were fun - looked at my white minifig elements and those definitely fit the bill best! Thanks! Haha I thought I was being conservative getting 16! They aren't too expensive on lego.com. I expect we'll see some flocks in the 100s on some upcoming castle builds! Thanks! I have some additional sheep-related builds in the pipeline for Wullham
  19. Task 5 - Higher Education 2 - Sheep Shearing School, Wullham
  20. Thanks! I'd love to see the stave church if you build it! You can pick the sheep up on Bricks n Pieces if you search for set 10775! Way cheaper there than on BrickLink. You have some Brickforge ones already, right? Would be cool to see a mix of the two in a build. I think those ship prow pieces are only like $0.15 or something - so cheap I bought a few dozen last year so my kids could make DIY hulls. Oh! Good call. I'll submit it there. What do you think of the soldier's backpack design? Should I try that one en masse? Tried to purge this build of the backpack mistakes of yore Thanks! Yeah the roof took 20 - 30 min to make. It's 17 studs long and then 8 studs tall. There are 8 plates of relief from the bottom to the top. Surprisingly sturdy! Thanks! Not sure the treasure chest tree is nice to look at, but is unusual
  21. Hilarious story Nice build with that interesting viking hull
  22. The MacAulen brothers open a sheep shearing school, large educational, evancelt
  23. The brothers Gregor and Duncan MacAulen had lived alongside sheep for most of their lives. They were new to Wullham and had quickly noticed upon their arrival that there was a niche that needed filling. Wullham had a ton of sheep, but very few people who knew how to shear wool! They first thought of monopolizing the shearing trade, but the huge number of sheep on the island frankly scared them a little. Instead, they decided to open a sheep shearing school. In their inaugural class, the brothers welcomed five locals - including a woman! They weren't picky when it came to students who could pay their class fees. Local herders would bring their sheep to a holding pen and the MacAulens' dogs would make sure they stayed in line. Once a fleece was removed from a sheep, they would pile it on a cart to take to town. Corporal Thiessen of the 26th Foot skirted the outside of the school on his way to Fort Stockton. He had received orders to report to the fort - there were rumors of action with the Lotii in the New Haven Sea! -------------------- OOC: To be licensed as a large educational build for Wullham. This one was just a fun chance to try out some techniques I'd been wondering about (the thatch roof, treasure chest tree, wigs for fleece, etc). You may recognize the boat prow building from this unlicensed build. I like the plumes better than the backpacks for the roof
