  1. It's got a more sinister look to it, although Ironically I think it would work well on some jedi but it doesn't on palpatine.
  2. Finishing off my list of all canon movies and shows, the mandalorian! Microfighters:
  3. These are all pretty good, but the TIE just takes it all up a notch, it looks amazing! I'm glad to see this style catching on. I also like the boga v wheel bike, and of course the cantina pack!
  4. Looking at how snug obi-wan is in the cockpit, I don't think it fits grievous. Still a nice-looking model, though!
  5. Yeah the jet trooper's legs need more blue. IMO utapau troopers has the best prints of any clones so far, but I still like the 501st ones too.
  6. Hey, I wear plain white t-shirts! The thing is, CAC figures are more detailed but pretty dang expensive. Lego could probably put some printed belts on the hips but it probably comes down the the lower budget this wave has :(. Printed white hips are ideally the best option, but if it comes down to plain black vs plain white I'd say plain white. As for the arms, it's a similar situation, except 4 sets of dual-molded arms isn't going to show up in a $30 set no matter the budget. As @storskogen puts it, we can just bricklink some blue arms and black hips if we like those better. At least it's not commander gree and the 41st scout battalion again. Death star will almost certainly come back in stock in the next few weeks/months. If I had to guess, in a year or two they'll "retire" it, then it'll come back with a few extra parts for $600 as the 2HY D2C. I think the delay from august to september is to make sure they've got enough sets manufactured. Won't stop me from getting up way earlier than I should on Tuesday, september 1st to get some sweet, sweet 501st packs.
  7. With the builds, I really don't think they matter for battle packs. Like you said, most battle packs just have random garbage lego designed. I wouldn't say that makes the rogue one battle packs non-canon because of the random speeder and walker. Geonosis troopers may be one of the worst battle packs ever. They aren't canon, aren't legends, aren't even a tie in to lego's shows that they do, it's just a waste of a spot that could have been used for more normal clones or something OT. (From what I remember 2014-2015 had a fair share of clone battle packs.) I still think we need another resistance battle pack, and a fleet trooper battle pack. I agree, I think a big part of it is just that it looks different than what we're used to. I'll probably do the same thing with the hips, although I'd have to find a pretty good deal since I'd want my stormtroopers to have white hips too and I've got around 40 from all the different styles.
  8. The other two are definitely legends, but shadow trooper exists in a weird semi-canon. It was in the 2015 battlefront, so they're canon, but haven't been in any story content as far as I'm aware. (Fun fact though, the helmet of a shadow scout trooper is in Rogue One) Even then, the tx-130 was retroactively made canon by battlefront 2 a year or two later. It's important to note, in this random discussion about legends that popped up, that since there is no legends branding, what is and isn't legends can be hard to discern. Brickset lists 6 legends sets that came out after the new canon was made, but I don't think they're right. The Senate Commandos battle pack is there, which is perfectly canon since they were in the canon clone wars show, but they're missing the tx-130, which wasn't canon at the point of release. Looking at all the sets that have come out since the new canon, I've got 2 sets that are "legends", excluding the sets made for the lego shows: Anakin's custom jedi starfighter: clearly based on 2003 2d clone wars cartoon, a legends property Shadow troopers: design of shadow troopers isn't the canon one, shadow guards are from legends. Both Brickset and Bricklink list the 20th anniversary imperial dropship, but since the shadow trooper looks like the battlefront 2015 design, it could go either way. Geonosis troopers is a really weird one because it's not canon but I can't find legends material of it either, and don't think it was made for one of the lego shows. The same with the sandspeeder, it's based on a kenner prototype that's not even part of the legends canon, and even weirder it's got the helmet rey puts on in TFA in it.
  9. These would sell pretty well for their target audience I think. Side note: I think kids like Anakin more because he's the "main character" and more headstrong and reckless, where Kenobi is more of a mentor figure in the films at least. (Children also fail to see the greatness of the high ground )Continuing with my tv show lists, a rebels series. The show is 3 years old now, but we'd been putting it in spoilers before, so I'll be on the safe side. Some of the sets have been released before, like the ghost and phantom, but they're the main ships so I kept them in. I wanted to put in the ITT, but I'll put it in my mandalorian wave instead.
  10. Yup, lego loves their kashyyyk sets. In the past few years, we've had Spider droid, Droid Gunship, AT-RT, AT-AP, the turbo tank, and I'm probably missing some. I think so too, there won't be any new films or shows that year besides Mando S3 and possibly one of the other shows, and they don't get full waves.
  11. As you noted, It's been awhile since our last $100+ prequel set, but I think i know why. Most of the waves that haven't been for the new films don't have $100+ sets (excluding UCS of course, that's a whole different beast). And in those waves, we've had some big prequel sets (I'm counting $60 and up as "big"). The jedi starfighter/hyperdrive ring, as you said, but also the AT-AP, and Turbo Tank. (I'm not counting yoda, it's a statue) Looking at the OT, the only big non-ucs since the new films have been coming out are a the X-wing, Sandcrawler, landing craft and 20th Slave one. It seems this is more so a case of the more expensive sets being for the new releases. This also shows how weird lego's releases can be. The three biggest ROTS releases are all Kashyyyk, and the retailer exclusive is a ship that appears in the special edition for a few seconds and as in an episode or two of rebels
  12. That would be a great set for the next TIE. It's a great design that's very different from the standard TIE, and it's now popped up in not only a movie but two console games (and plenty of mobile games, I'm sure). Although, we still need another bomber and interceptor, it's been over 15 years! And squadrons also prominently shows the imperial cruisers from rebels, and the mon cala ships we still don't have at all. Maybe squadrons gets everyone really into OT starfighters and we can get those last few TIES, at least. I can sympathise with you on Han. My parents couldn't get me the 2011 falcon because I was too expensive, and at that age a hundred dollars seemed like a million to me. I found the magnet set online though, back when you could actually take the figures off the magnets . That is one great thing about the past few waves, all the main characters are in cheap-ish sets. Except for Poe, who's cheapest set where he's not in a festive sweater is still $50, almost all the main heroes and villains are all pretty affordable.
  13. True, the official helmet is clearly the wrong color. Hopefully when they do beskar mando, we'll get a silver one with a better visor. I always thought an MBS cantina would be perfect, there are so many alien designs they could do!
  14. True, the helmets were dual-molded. Duel molded arms and legs still seem to be more rare among SW sets, for some reason. ^This. Lego makes some crazy choices, but it's not an agenda against the prequels. Yeah, lego can make some weird decisions sometimes, but as others have said it's not unique to the prequels. Also, attempting to look objectively at these sets: Grievous's starfighter: somewhat obscure fighter with 2 major characters and a clone varient. AAT: major separatist ground vehicle with fan-favorite Ahsoka, clone varient and 2 droids. 501st: two small ground vehicles with 4 clones and 2 droids, a specifically fan-requested set. Anakin's starfighter: Main hero ship with 2 major characters. There are totally some big flaws, like the price of the grievous starfighter and lack of a third figure in anakin's, but overall it's a pretty good selection. And it's almost half the wave! The prequels aren't getting too few sets, it's just that lego, as they always do, makes weird choices in some ways. For this wave, i think I can see the logic behind it, though. It's got Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, a major villain in Grievous, and then a heck ton of clones and droids with 4 major vehicles and one semi-obsure vehicle. Two other things I noticed that I thought were cool: We get the three main heroes of the saga: Anakin, Luke, and Rey. I think this might be the first wave with all three. There are two Gonk Droids in the wave, and they're new designs/colors. Clearly, until they release the Gonk Battlepack with 4 stud shooter wielding Gonks and the AT-GNK, this is the best wave for Gonk Droids in awhile.
  15. That's actually a really good point, the only thing exclusive to that set now is anakin's headset-less face. Almost half the sets are prequel sets this wave, what do you mean it's a limited number? I think this is why. We definitely haven't had 4 figures with dual-molded arms in one $30 set, for one thing.
  16. I don't think many parents wouldn't be ok with their kid getting a ROTS lego set, I mean it's star wars, it's family friendly (at least the films). If a parent isn't going to buy the obi-wan vs anakin set, they probably wouldn't be buying the normal SW sets anyway. It is really strange. $60 should have been the price, and I could even see $70, but $80 is just insane.
  17. I'm not sure, these were/maybe are going to be august releases for the most part, so by the time that they get any real stats on how well the set is selling, I don't think they'd have time to replace the torso. That said, just from what I've seen, this set really hasn't been selling well, so maybe it was a last-minute fix. I'd be severely disappointed if that were the case, it's uncharacteristically lazy of them. True, no more barely being able to cram your hand to get the figure in there. They've got a great image of it with some pieces missing, and I think you could easily fit 4-6 figures in there, maybe 8 or ten if you really cram them in. I've been thinking the same thing (well, not that it was a system error, but that it's somewhat strange as to why it's so expensive). this isn't just "lego is overpriced", this is a different level of value for the price than they normally have. The fact that the KOR ship has more parts, is probably more desirable to most kids right now (say what you will about your favorite trilogy, most 6-12 year olds I know like whatever's new), and is cheaper supports this.
  18. Thank you! I'm glad you liked how the battle pack you outlined turned out! Next up I'll have a set for yerbana, with new spin on the tank droid design and the command center.
  19. They're also trying to get more sales in china, what with the new factories and literal new theme, so it makes sense that they're trying to differentiate between them and knockoffs. Yeah, they really shouldn't have given him that torso. And c'mon, is it really that expensive for them to make a new print that's the exact same thing but with a few marks removed?
  20. Thanks! And you're right, Saxon would need a horned helmet mold. Let me know if you do make digital MOCS for your wishlist wave, that'd be great to see!
  21. According to mandrproductions, the $40 set and bespin convention exclusive are different sets. I guess he's been right before with vader's castle and the 501st set, so I guess it's a possibility. If true this begs the question, what is the $40 set? @jdubbs hint makes it sound like a 40th anniversary empire strikes back set, but I'm not sure what it could be at that price. A larger version of hoth attack? Another snowspeeder, this time just more overpriced?
  22. Keep. It. Sealed. Wait a few years, a set with a figure that doesn't appear in all versions of the set is going to be super expensive. If we don't get another bomber for a long while, that price will just keep climbing. You're sitting on a gold mine, man!
  23. It's almost certainly going to be based off of AOTC, so we're not getting p2 troops unless maybe the fan choice character is p2 rex or cody, though I'd hate that because the bricklink prices for those figures would be awful. Also, pretty sure Churchill would be an OT fan, seeing as the good guys fight space nazis and Admiral Raddus is based on him . NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This is outrageous, it's unfair! Anakin's starfighter is fine, a third figure would have been nice even if it was just a 501st trooper or b1, I already have an eta so I'll pass. I'm buying at least 2 501st sets upon release, and probably another later. If they go on sale, and maybe even if they don't but are nearing the end of their production run, I'll snag some to keep sealed. AAT looks great, I'll buy one right off the bat and probably a second one to sell the figures and keep the build. Advent calendar has some great figures (2 exclusives!), and the micros have some good parts, so I'll probably get it. The sweater vader is hilarious. KoR ship is a great set but I'm not going to try and collect all the Kor, so it's not for me. Grievous's starfighter looks so good, but it's so overpriced. I already have the older versions of the figures, and don't really care about having a ship that's in the film for 5 seconds and a handful of clone wars episodes, so I'll pass. IT-S looks amazing, and seems to be worth the $100...but I'm still on the fence. The razor crest and AT-AT are both sets I want but both pretty expensive so I'll probably stagger the purchases and get one at release and one in December.
  24. Thank you! That's a great allusion, I love the star wars score and things like that add to it so much. The story of the clones is one of the most tragic stories in star wars, too. UPDATE: BATTLE OF MANDALORE: The first "normal" set on the list, since the others were battle packs, microfighters, and a duel. Most waves seem to have a location-based set for $20-30, so I made this one. Battle of Mandalore ($29.99): 284 pieces. As you can see, the set's based on the initial phase of the siege. I used screenshots from the show as reference. The main area is one of the many walkways we see the clones and mandalorians fighting on. The minifigures are Bo-katan, Captain Vaughn, and Gar Saxon. I thought it would be a nice addition to have the three leader characters in one set. Vaughn would have the only new mold in the wave, a phase 2 helmet with visor that we'll see on another figure in the headhunter. . Two of the play features are shown here, the function to explode the crates by Vaughn, and the collapsing part of the walkway caused by pulling the technic bushing below bo-katan. Another angle, this time with the two play features shown earlier not in use. Since the set, despite the play features, is more or less just a walkway, I added parts for the mandalorians' gadgets. The shield, rope and flamethrower are all simple builds, but I think they'd add some more playability were it a real set. One last angle. The hole at the right of the image is a small representation of the pit entrance to the tunnel system. I really like how this one turned out. Next up is a set based on the battle of yerbana, which will be comprised of some smaller vehicles. After that will be the headhunter, and possibly a playscale venator. My original list had the gauntlet fighter, but @Kozikyo86 made a great moc of that one and I don't think I could make a good set of it without it being a copy.
