LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Our prayers have been answered! The new face looks great, super accurate, even the skin tone, it's all I could have wanted for it! I wonder if this spells the end for angry clone, or if it will ironically only be used for imps and FO from now on. -

Can we start estimating everything's value based on how many 501st packs you could get for it? I don't know sales figures, but I'd assume it sold worse than something like assault on hoth, even if most afols hated that set. And then most adults are going to prefer the ucs sets like slave one or the falcon to the big cloud city playset, too. I think that's where the problem is with these, they're too expensive for most kids and too "childish" for most adults. Exactly. Also, tons of kids buy from brickarms and CAC and whatnot. When I was a kid me and my friends would put them on the indiana jones figures. -

True, it's usually the bigger UCS sets that have longer lifespans. -
I'm not sure, I'd just caution that you make a physical model to be sure if you're going to try and sell instructions

I don't think it'll be able to stand then, at least not like you've got it there. A single 1x2 hinge connection won't keep the weight of the head up.

You're totally right! I've always thought they've had the wrong skin tone, that head works perfectly! Maybe this one for some commandos?

What kind of joints are you using for the legs?

I think it makes sense, he's the main villain after all so he'll probably be tough to get otherwise. I'm fine with him being exclusive. It's not like palpatine, where he's an iconic character. (I was also going to say it's not like he'll be all that powerful, but of course Gonk droids are the most powerful characters in the lore ) -
Thank you! Spring shooters are there because I'm trying to make them as if they were real sets. If you'd like, I can do a quick edit that removes them, it'd only take me a minute or so. Thank you so much! Rook was pretty important in some comics that cover how Maul gets back to mandalore, so I really wanted her in a set. Bo-katan's actually the blue mando in the platform battle set, though you can't really tell with the lack of helmet prints. Glad to hear my commando shield is catching on. These are all good ideas, now I really want to do a small little comic-con type set with ahsoka and the crash site! The three droids will definately be on the venator.

Thank you for the advice, I'll be sure to keep that trick about the internal pieces in mind! -

I'm using the ones from the 2002 gunship, I already have one and it's about 70 cents to get another (instead of $40 each for the 2013 ones. For the large wing ones, I have the 2 pieces the sticker is put on, but in white instead of light grey, which I think should work. Thanks for the advice! -

Agreed. The old hood piece doesn't work for so many characters, but it works fine on the characters they're using the new hood on now! It's great to have a new piece, but Jedi and Sith look better with the old one! -
They're all great, I vote for #9 twice though.

I've been looking at getting a republic gunship, but they're pretty dang expensive. I have yet to look through to see which pieces I have in my collection already, but currently it's $100 plus 4 orders of shipping without the figures or sticker sheet and using a different print for the bubble turrets. Does anyone have the gunship, and do you think it would look good without the stickers? -
I forgot resistance existed, but here's a wave for it! (I haven't seen much of the show, so most of it's just stuff I've found from the trailers) Microfighters: First order troop transport ($9.99): first order stormtrooper (new resistance style print) Black Ace ($9.99): Griff Haloren Fireball vs Vonreg's TIE fighter ($19.99): Kaz (pilot helmet), Major vonreg. First order troopers ($14.99): 2 first order stormtroopers (Resistance-style), mountain trooper, first order technician. Build is a first order turbolaser turret. Resistance pilots ($14.99): resistance pilot (orange suit), Abenado resistance pilot, resistance officer, resistance ground crew. Build is a small transport for the pilots Duel: Kaz vs Pyre ($19.99): Kaz and Pyre, pyre has that axe thing. Build is a bit of the ruined hanger from the star destroyer they're in? To be honest I never saw this scene, just the bit from the trailer. $20-30 location set: colussus bridge ($24.99): the command center with some consoles, Captain Doza, a first order stormtrooper, and Doza's droid. Other sets; Blue Ace ($39.99): Torra Doza, Commander Pyre, Red Ace pilot. First order TIE fighter ($69.99): First Order TIE pilot, agent tyranny, Poe Dameron, BB-8 The fireball ($79.99): Kazuda Xiono, Kazuda's pink/blue BB-8, Tam, Neeku. The Colussus ($119.99): Captain Doza, Pilots for Green and Yellow Ace, Captain Phasma, Flix, Orca, 2x first order stormtroopers. Realistically we'd only see the fireball and first order TIE fighter, if any sets, but I wanted to complete all the shows.

Thanks! The next few sets are all going to be clone wars, although I'm thinking about maybe doing a TIE bomber after the headhunter and venator. @Tanner and @Navity, nice. I'm kidding, thank you! I also want to say you guys should check out @Agent Kallus's "wishlist wave mocs" thread. He's made some really great sets from Clone wars, rebels, the mandalorian, and more. So here we go, I've got to tell you this was a pain to design. The main build took way longer than I expected it too, and although I'm still not fully satisfied I don't think I could improve it anymore. Battle of Yerbana ($49.99): 615 pieces, 3 minifigures, 3 droid figures. (the price is lower than you'd expect from a 615 piece set because of all the tank tread parts, the previous tank droid was $19.99 for 267 pieces) This set is representing the battle of yerbana at the start of the arc, with the NR-N99 tank droid, separatist command platform, and a BARC for the republic. The BARC of course isn't in the scene but I wanted a build for the republic and it's a common GAR vehicle. (hey, maybe one of those piles of rubble they hide behind in the scene is a destroyed BARC ) The figures are Anakin, a 212th trooper, a 501st jet trooper, 2 b1s, and a super tactical droid. First is the main build, the NR-N99 Corporate Alliance tank droid, or as it should be called, the snail tank . This went through 3 complete overhauls of the entire build, although each time I kept the 5x5 curved quarter slope pieces. I wanted my tank droid to be a completely different build from the official lego ones, and I think I at least accomplished that in the end. There are gears on the inside allowing the treads to turn so it can roll, of course, and the obligatory spring shooters on the side bits. This was quite possibly the most frustrating build I've ever done in stud.io, the tank droid just has such a unique shape. There's almost nothing to say about the BARC. I like the 212th (501st is overrated, 212th and coruscant guard for life ), and since they were the main ground force in this scene I gave the speeder it's orange markings. The BARC is just a recolor of the one I did a few weeks ago for the clone battle pack, I didn't have any real improvements for it. The droid command center is downsized quite a bit, but I think it works. It can have 3 droids at the consoles, and has a ramp for the tactical droid to walk up. Again, not much to this build as the main feature is the tank droid. The super tactical droid would ideally have a new mold, but I used the normal tactical droid one for it here. One last image of everything together. The 212th trooper wouldn't have orange arms, just some orange printing on the torso and legs, since looking at the S7 212th troopers there isn't much orange on the arms. Let me know what you think about this set, next up is the headhunter, and then I'll start work on a playscale venator.

Help finding classic start trooper battle pack
Mandalorianknight replied to LegoDW's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It's been retired for about 3-4 years, unfortunately. They're also in the rebels style, which I personally don't mind but a lot of people dislike. If you haven't already found your troopers, I'd say bricklinking the troopers themselves would be the easiest way. They aren't that expensive, and you can make sure to only get the style you want. -

I'm not too bothered by the changes themselves, just that the changes in design seem to be constant. Like you said, they don't look nearly as cartoonish as the rebels stormies and TCW clones. If they stay as this for at least a few years I'll be happy. -
Yeah, I think the absolute earliest possible is the 2021 2hy, but 2022 is the most likely year. I'm also looking forwards a ton to any s2 sets, especially with all the characters rumored to show up. I'd be ok with another red five, but not until 2022 or later. All the sets sound great, I've left in my favorites and some I have questions about. Hailfire droid: we need a bigger hailfire, and another kit fisto, so it sounds great. But does the p1 trooper need a new helmet? Plo koon is another jedi we need to get again, and he does need a new head mold. His starfighter is pretty cool too. I've voiced my want for a TIE interceptor many times in this thread and the discussion thread......but I'll do it again. We need a TIE interceptor. I think we got dooku in 2013 with his chrome saber, but he hasn't appeared since, which is really annoying.

I love this UCS-type y-wing design! The engines especially look great.
