LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

The sides of the trexler most definately cannot hold figures unfortunately, they're not nearly tall enough. My guess is it seats a pilot, gunner, and then there's room for 1-2 figures behind the cockpit in that area where they've got the big DBG hatch piece (like a 4x3 or something) on the side. I designed a MOC of a similar size that can hold four, so I'd guess it'll be close. It could always be another Night Buzzard, though. I noticed that pattern too, I guarantee if/when S3 comes out we get a green or blue stormtrooper. Since the flametrooper was similar to the legends one, I'll go even further and guess we'll see a blue lieutenant or sniper. I feel like one of the reasons they did the trexlar instead of the ITT is so they don't have to make it fit more than 2-3 figures, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if it can fit more. Fun Fact: The Razor Crest can hold the ToT speeder, grogu, and at least 5 figures. (Currently I've got Mando, Grogu, and Cara in the cockpit, Greef in that behind-cockpit space, and custom fennec and boba in the hold with the speeder.) -

Exactly. They're made of the same plastic as the other figures, they have more new prints than the average figure, and most other metrics are more subjective. Even then, you could argue more prints aren't always needed, so a figure with, say, 2 prints, like final duel luke, could still be a "better" figure. It's subjective. 100% agreed, every other figure since that man (excluding the gonks) has been downhill from that. You can't keep saying "let's drop this" if you preface it by saying "your opinion on the quality of these plastic figures is objectively wrong." We can debate how good we think they are all day, but in the end it's mainly opinion, they aren't "objectively" good or bad figures. -

To be fair though, they most likely did "they best they could" with what they were given. Would you rather the dark trooper not get a new mold, or gar saxon/the armorer, etc? They would all have worked much worse with existing molds than hunter and echo did. They don't have infinite new molds, and I think the 5 they had this wave were the best choices (save maybe crosshair instead of fennec). I wouldn't say it's making excuses, I'd say it's explaining that you've got to temper your expectations, given any sort of precedence from previous sets you can't expect 4 new unique helmet molds in a single system set. It is a good point that it sometimes comes off that way though. Definately agree that crosshair sorely needs a new mold, though, they should have gone with him over fennec and given her the helmet later in the BoBf sets in 2022. Although now that I think about it, maybe that's why she has the helmet here, so it can be re-used. In which case the dark trooper could be considered, since it'd only be used on one figure, though using any other helmet for the dark trooper would be more inaccurate than crosshair with a p2 helmet... I wonder how molds are allocated here. Although for Echo about half the merch seems to have a hand for that arm (the hot toys one even has some looney-toons like hammer and grapple arms), so I'd say it's not unlikely he'll get a hand in the show. -

They definately are unique. They have different weapons (I mean, they literally all come with different weapons, so I'm not sure why that's there), they have different gear. They don't share the same helmets, but lego can't put 5 new unique molds in a single set. Especially considering the sheer amount of new figures and prints this wave. We have 14 new characters (Paz Vizla, Armorer, Gar Saxon, Bo-Katan, Mandalorian Loyalist, Moff Gideon, Fennec Shand, Dark Trooper, Mortar Trooper, Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, Crosshair, and Echo.), 3 new variants of existing characters (S2 Greef Carga, Post-ROTJ boba fett, S7 Maul, and I won't count it but technically a new Gonk too), 3 new arm-printing torsos (Fennec, Boba, and Echo), 4 new helmet molds (Armorer/Gar Saxon, Dark Trooper, Fennec, and Tech), and a new armor mold. Add in that you've got around 70 new prints, and it's no wonder they couldn't fit 3 more helmet molds in the budget. I'll grant that they maybe could have given fennec hair instead of a helmet and used that mold for crosshair, but Echo and Hunter definately don't need new helmets. The only problem with hunter's helmet is the fin, but seeing as he's got paint exactly where the fin would be on his helmet and the p2 fin is pretty minor, I really don't think it's a big deal. Echo's helmet has a raised bit pretty much where the fin is and basically the same shape, and the back might be a little different, but a: it's not exactly noticeable and b: if I remember correctly none of us had any clue what was going on back there with his actual character until we got a view of how it's put on around 5 episodes in. TLDR: We have 5 new molds, 14 new characters, 3 new variants, and around 70 new prints this wave, so expecting each batch member to have a new mold might be a bit much. Crosshair probably needed one, but echo and hunter didn't. -

Yeah, not every helmet is perfect, but they definately went all-out on these figures. Plus IMO the only one that's really that inaccurate is crosshair (Who needed the ARC mold), Hunter and Echo have similar enough helmets. It looks great, too! I'm thinking for hair, the dog show winner's hair from the CMF should work in blond. I thought it was already out in this color, but apparently it's "bright light yellow" as opposed to tan. -

Hail Thrawn. Depends how much you want the figures. Since you're comfortable waiting at least a wave, seeing as you don't want to buy the set just for the figure if it'll show up later, I'd wait at least until the January 2022 set images leak. There's no way the summer 2021 sets will have retired by then, but we'll know if any BoBF tie-ins will release that wave. -

Were you trying to get the mando battlepack back in early 2020? It was INSANELY hard to find. It sold out in lego stores in the US within an hour or two of release, was on backorder at target within a couple hours of release, etc, and stayed incredibly hard to find for months. Yes, mandos are very much "anywhere near as popular" as clones, I'd argue they're actually more popular due to the mandalorian, boba fett, and cross-era appeal. Also not sure about your comments on the mando fighter alongside the AAT. The AAT really only had one massable figure people wanted as well (Don't tell me people were trying to mass b1 tank drivers), and bo-katan + Gar saxon are easier to make usable figures out of with extra copies (nite owls and mauldalorians) than ahsoka is. People complained like hell about the AAT when it first came out, saying the only good parts were ahsoka and the 332nd trooper, whereas people seem to like both the vehicle and figures this time around for the fighter, with the most criticism I've seen being about Bo-Katan's hair of all things. TLDR: Mando fighter has the same hype as the AAT and mandos are as popular, if not MORE popular than clones. -

Do you know explicitly what they said? I can't find it, and I want to see the exact qoute as I find it hard to believe that they don't take secondhand prices into account (as it's just basic business sense to remake/reprint/restock items with high secondary market sales.), so I'm wondering if it's like their argument for no fallen order sets (It's rated...the equivalent rating to multiple star wars films?!?!?). -

The tattoo does make more sense than him cutting his face, though the scope still seems a bit scratchy to me, maybe he insisted on tattooing himself. I find it HILARIOUS that the last remnant of angry clone isn't even a star wars character, but Flint Marko. Maybe Thomas Haden Church should cameo in stormtrooper armor in Andor! The quality of this wave is insane compared to previous ones. Almost every minifigure is a new character or variant, and most of the helmeted ones even have unique face prints and hair (when applicable, there's a lot of bald characters this wave). Not to mention the builds themselves, which mostly seem to be a great value for the cost of the set (With the exception of that duel...ouch). -

Yes it has, it's a neutral expression with his scope scar (it looks like a scar at least...wait...did he cut his face to make a scar in that shape?!?). Looks good, same with boba's (If you haven't seen it either, it's a slight frown with some scars.) -

In my opinion, you've answered your own question right here. Doesn't matter if his points are valid, his constant whining as well as stuff like the jar jar campaign and fake interviews make people inclined not to listen to him. It's sort of like if a guy walks into a pub and starts screaming and moaning about murder being bad. You probably agree with his larger point, but the way he conducts himself and how he goes about making those points are obnoxious. Plus, he complains about EVERYTHING, which makes the valid complaints diluted. (edited after @Clone OPatra reminded us that he's on the forum): If you do see this MandR, like I said, you do have some valid points. If you're looking to improve your image on the forum, I'd just suggest maybe going about those points in a more polite way, sort of like Jangbricks, and maybe backing off on influencing the fan votes. I was thinking more glow squids being the sole product of "Dream"'s fans, but yeah phantoms are there too. I didn't pay much attention to minecraft at the time but from what I've heard people actually though phantoms were a good idea . Yeah, the fan votes are so influenced by stuff like this that it's almost better they just not exist. The backlash to the gunship being rumored to only have 2 figures is proof enough of that (plus you can find a fair amount of comments even here from people who say they never planned on buying the gunship and only voted because it was prequel). It really does! I might be late to the party on this part, but I just saw Crosshair's as well, looks great. Between this, The entire batch, and Bo-katan, I'm impressed, they've really stepped up their quality on this. not too long ago they all would have been angry clone... -
Impressive...most impressive. You've definately increased it's accuracy and made it look more aesthetically pleasing as well.

You're right, I guess technically they do have final control. Usually I'd find it kind of sketchy if they didn't go with the winning option, but at this point I think the lego fan votes are essentially "which lego youtuber has the least morals and most subscribers", so it's not like it's what most people actually want anyway. (Actually that's not even just a lego thing, I believe minecraft had a similar problem last year) Meh, it's been 6 months or so since we saw his face (at least, his face without being covered in blood), so it's understandable lego hasn't done a print yet. I'm guessing we'll see his face by mando S3...which supposedly isn't even filming until 2022... :( Actually we can tell based off the images as you can see his head is black. I haven't personally looked that closely at the figures there, but @hondohnaka seems to have. Yeah, so MandR (guy behind the 501st campaign and someone who likely exerted a lot of influence on the gunship vote), decided that he wanted people to write-in votes for Jar Jar in the brickheadz vote. Honestly feels to me like he just wants to see how much influence he can exert, as you'd think he'd rather have something like a 501st trooper, and jar jar is possibly the most hated character in star wars. Actually you've got to feel bad for lego, they literally made a set because he got people to ask for it, and he responds by relentlessly trashing them, influencing their votes for..jar jar... and making a fake "interview" that just mocks designers. -

The gunship is also a fan-voted set, though. You do bring up a good point, but I hope that lego has enough common sense to realize that revealing a brickheadz as the "exclusive set" would be a huge letdown. Yup. The gunship wasn't as aggravating, as while he was influencing the vote it conceivably could have won on it's own, and is a set many people actually wanted. The Jar Jar thing was just him blatantly using his influence to get a set of quite possibly the least popular star wars character ever made. It honestly comes off as him just seeing if he can influence enough votes to get a joke suggestion as a set. -

Where have you seen the armory pics? I can only find pics of the figures. Agreed about those figures, love that paz figure. I agree, this might be the best wave in ages. I think it's the same mold as Gar Saxon, and it's just the angle making it look bad. -

I never thought about this before, but you're totally right. So assumedly it'll go: Imperial cruiser august 2021, remnant battlepack January 2022, advent calendar 2022. True, however the next wave that could have tBoBF sets would be January, so partway through the show's run. I do agree that tBoBF sets will show up in that wave, though. Lego made a similar mistake to the original kenner toys with mandalorian, and now bad batch if it's Nielsen ratings are anything to go off of, they aren't going to want to miss out on that again. I think the Slave One possibly being retooled as a mando/tBoBF tie in is proof of that. -

I mean, I feel like most people buying this set should have been able to guess that beskar mando was going to show up in another set eventually, seeing as he's the main character of what is widely regarded as the most popular star wars since empire strikes back. -

Thanks. I totally agree about his role, and luckily he's easier to use as a stock figure than luke as you can just mix his parts with the battlepack mandos (although I do use luke torso and legs with different heads for generic outer rim civilians). Their figure counts have been pretty darn consistent in the past, so I'm guessing you're right. Won't have new prints, but since figures as desirable as death and sith troopers were left out in the past, I wouldn't rule out a 501st trooper or maybe even a mandalorian (not THE mandalorian, of course). -

He's in three sets, four if you count the advent calendar (I don't because the torso is clearly different), so I don't think it's that bad yet, but yeah I'd definitely take him over some random stormie or mando missing arm printing. Lego fan flow chart: https://bricksafe.com/files/mandalorianknight/Flow chart meme.pdf It is really annoying how entitled the thread can seem sometimes. He's in what, three sets? Four if you count the advent calendar where he has an exclusive torso print? That's nothing, especially when it's literally the main character of one of the most popular shows of all time and the new face of star wars. -

I think there are more characters, but I doubt they've got new prints. That said, Mando's scarf print could work for Cobb IMO. Are people really complaining about beskar mando? He's going to be in most mando sets for the same reason that spider-man is in most spider-man sets, and he's a great figure. (Plus every copy of him I get is a new pair of arms to put on a printed-arm-lacking other mandalorian character. You can just use a jumper plate. In general, I prefer the armor parts to have stud connections where it makes sense. Allows for more customization and makes it look more like actual legos. -

Could be the 2hy d2c (AT-AT, right?), the armorer's forge, or even something they managed to keep secret from most leakers. -
