LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Bingo card's going fine, thank you for helping me fill it out! What are you talking about? I can't get on bricklink right now but I can off the top of my head think of many more expensive UCS sets: All death stars, falcon, sandcrawler, star destroyer, same price as cloud city and ewok village, ...I think you mean the engines.... the big red conical things on top? -

Called it. People will justify voting but not buying a UCS set over the figures despite the figures not being the point of a UCS set. I'm bricking the parts for a MOC of a system scale one I made awhile ago, there's no chance we get another bomber anytime soon. Exactly. I've spoken about this alot, but Poe's x-wing (black one, not the new one) was the first set that I got after coming back into lego, and black one is one of my favorite ships, so I'd snap up a black one UCS as my first day one UCS purchase ever. A TIE silencer, Kylo's shuttle, and resistance bomber could all sell pretty well too. I've been warning about this since the vote happened, people are going to use the figures, never the point of a UCS set, to justify voting for it but not buying it, the sales won't track as well as the votes would lead lego to believe, and we might have to wait longer for prequel UCS. As someone who would love to see a UCS ARC-170 or venator, I'm saddened that this prediction is starting to come true, and hope it ends up not happening. -
Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
They'll wait until they see how the gunship sells. If it does well, that opens the door for an ARC-170 or something in 2023. Here's my UCS ideas. I try to focus on things that would actually be made, so not, like, a UCS Boss Nass's face or something. Prequels: UCS Naboo Fighter ($199.99): Child Anakin and R2-D2. UCS ETA-2 ($199.99): Anakin Skywalker (mechanical arm printing), R2-D2 UCS ARC-170 ($299.99): Captain Jag (arm printing) and a clone pilot (arm printing) MBS Pentaki Areana ($349.99): a semicircle formed of the stands along with the main gate, balcony, catacombs for the interior behind the stands, 3 pillars, and buildable Nexu, Reek, Ackley, and Orray, along with a 350-ish piece small republic gunship. Comes with Anakin, Obi-wan, Padme, Yoda, a clone commander, clone pilot, 2 clone troopers, Pablo-jill, Kit Fisto, dooku, jango, nute gunrey, wat tambor, 4x geonosian, 4x battle droid, 2x super battle droid. UCS AT-TE ($399.99): Clone captain, Clone Trooper. UCS Venator ($699.99): Clone officer (plainclothes), clone trooper (phase 2). Originals: UCS Luke's Landspeeder ($199.99): Luke Skywalker (hat, poncho), Ben Kenobi UCS AT-ST remake ($299.99): Chewbacca (arm printing) and AT-ST pilot (arm printing) MBS Battle for Endor ($349.99): Massive endor bunker (interior includes command center, reactor, armory, etc, with ewok glider, ewok catapult, mid-scale AT-ST, and 2 speeder bikes. Figures are endor Han, Leia, C-3PO, R2-D2, Rex, Chewbacca, 2x rebel commando, Paploo, Wicket, Chirpa, Logray, 1x imperial officer (black), 1x AT-ST pilot, 2x imperial officer, 2x imperial navy trooper, 3x stormtrooper, 2x scout trooper. UCS TIE Interceptor remake ($199.99): TIE pilot (arm printing), Moff Jerjerrod (dual molded legs). Sequels: UCS Black One ($299.99): Poe Dameron (arm printing), BB-8. UCS Special Forces TIE fighter ($199.99): First Order special forces TIE pilot (arm printing), first order stormtrooper commander (arm printing, pauldron). UCS Resistance bomber ($399.99): Finch Dallow, Paige Tico, resistance Bombardier, resistance gunner. TIE Silencer ($199.99): Kylo Ren (arm printing, TLJ design with no helmet), BB-9E UCS First Order Star Destroyer ($699.99): General Hux (dual molded legs), Supreme Leader Snoke (dress piece instead of legs, arm printing). MBS Exogol ($349.99): Two-sided build similar in overall shape to the cloud city set. One side is the hull of the first order star destroyer with turrets and an interior bridge. Other side is Exogol's sith temple with the sith statues, sith throne, science equipment, and omnic harness. Also included are midi-scale Luke's X-wing, Millenium falcon, TIE fighter, and TIE dagger, as well as two brick-built orbacks. Comes with Rey, Ben Solo, Palpatine (zombie-like), Palpatine (reborn), Trudgen, Vicrul, Cardo, 2x soviergn protectors, 2x sith troopers, 2x sith order jet troopers, general pryde, 2x sith eternal officer, Finn, Jannah, BB-8, 2x first order tie pilots, Lando, Chewbacca, and Beaumont Kin. Shows: The Razor Crest ($399.99): Mandalorian (beskar armor, arm printing), Grogu in pram, Cara Dune, and Greef Carga. The Ghost ($399.99): S4 versions of Kanan, Hera, Chopper, Zeb, Sabine, and Ezra. Havoc Marauder ($399.99): Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, Echo, (all arm printing), and Omega. Slave 1 ($299.99): Updated model with Boba Fett (arm printing, leg printing, new helmet color), and Fennec Shand (arm printing, helmet and hair). -

Exactly. Plus, once you realize that they were mainly looking at characters that were actually present by the AOTC gunship, mace and a clone commander totally seem like they could have been the most-voted characters that were actually near the gunship in episode 2. I got the complaints about the clone commander's color too, I think that's bingo. See this makes sense. If a new clone pilot or p2 cody was in this set, people would complain it was exclusive to a $350 set. This way, the figures can be exclusive without being annoyingly so. If you want a mace, there are other versions that aren't quite as detailed but still great figs. Likewise with the clone commander. If you get the set, the figs are a nice little exclusive. If you don't, lego avoids the look of having new, fan-favorite characters or molds in a $350 set. Since the focus of a UCS set IS NOT THE FIGURES, but the build, I think this strategy not only makes sense but is actually kind of genius. BuT tHeY'rE pRoBaBlY lYiNg BeCaUsE tHeY dOn'T lIkE tHe PrEqUeLs!!!!! ThE gUnShIp PrObAbLy GoT 140% oF tHe VoTeS!!!! 58% makes sense, I'd guess the nebbie got like 40% and the bomber got 2%. (I've seen precisely one person on eurobricks and 0 on other social media say they voted for the bomber, so I don't think it was really a factor) ...that's kind of a big number my guy. While I agree that jedi bob isn't really a serious choice, it is kind of ironic that while (correctly IMO) pointing out that people are using the figure selection as an excuse not to buy a set they voted to have made, you also say that the figure selection, had it been slightly different, would have made you not purchase a set you voted to have made. -
Love these! I'll definately be implementing them.

almost like a sort of convention..for legos... some sort of lego convention... I disagree here, and I think I can explain this logically. We agree UCS is for display, not for figs, at least generally. You list the reasons for this being an exception as the price being $350 and the set being a fan vote. No idea what the price has to do with it, the most recent $200 set had two figs, the most recent $700 set had two figs, UCS sets tend to have two figs now. The second part for you is the fan vote, right? How do you know the desires were never going to be considered? If I had to guess, they looked at the votes, and the characters with the most votes who were ACTUALLY PRESENT IN THE SCENE were the clone commander and mace. I'm of the same opinion. Though if the mace head is bad, the clone commander is going to be INSANE. I've got a few spaces filled out, but no bingo yet. Instagram's got a ton of "it's too big" complaints, though. -

It's a clone commander with flame orange yellow arms and printing. Mace has teeth too. Yeah it's bigger than minifig scale by a sizable amount, one only needs to look at the cockpits to see that. I'm glad they did that though, it is a UCS set after all. It's a very nice build. -

Looks great! The stand is an interesting one, figs seem good for what they are, and the thing is MASSIVE. Great part usage, I like the eta canopies for the cockpit, and the bubble turrets are nice, as well as the 3x3 round tile with the republic cog. If I didn't build a modded 2013 model, I would consider getting this one. it's the clone -
These are great! It's nice to see the mantis at this scale, I just tried it at a larger scale and recoloring is a pain. I'd go with one, hear me out: The mantis has only been seen once. As a unique vessel, I think all the paint jobs are meant to be different versions of the same ship. Your corvettes, though, definately count as multiple, as there are multiple of those in-canon.

Ah, I knew MandR was trying to stir something up, but I didn't realize other sources were actively shutting that down, that's hilarious. That's definately a strong number, though again sales will be the real indication. I'm guessing, just based off this forum and social media comments having some real debate, that the nebbie got 20,000-25,000 votes and the tie got >5000. -

Meh, I'd prefer they stay the same. Partially because we've had multiple prequel UCS sets with the plaque, partially because enough people seem to forget all trilogies are still part of the same saga already without further differentiations being made. gunship looks frickin massive, seems great. Some people are talking about the logo on the boxart, where did you guys see the boxart? -

Yeah, no one has money in collage. I do think he means the republic crest, but even if it's the imperial one, it's not a big deal, it's boxart. If the orange is an orange commander, that's odd. Maybe orange refers to the helm paint of a pilot? Bummer, the bionicle set wasn't even a bionicle? :( Worse than the obi-robes thing. OH NO, THE BOXART HAS A SMALL INNACURACCY! LEGO IS CLEARLY TRYING TO MURDER ALL OF US! -

I'm guessing it replaces the yellow on the gunship? I don't even know that it would rate cryptic comments but it's the only thing that makes sense to me. These are good points, but you also need to consider that the majority of active LSW fans on the internet doesn't correlate to overall LSW fans. Most fans are either kids in the 6-12 range the system sets are meant for, or older adults that only buy UCS sets, and neither are particularly active on the internet, as noted by the fact that if UCS sales were solely from members on the star wars part of this forum, the line would have ended almost immediately, and most kids don't have social media accounts. Exactly. Though the jar jar thing refers to MandR telling his fans to write-in jar jar for a brickheadz vote that happened awhile ago. (also, there was a bionicle set in the designer program? I would have bought it, had I known about it.) -
I think at this point the thread should just be locked, it's clearly a bogus list.

LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Exactly this. Most of the people who voted for this, based off comments on various platforms, are teenagers who like the prequels and considered nothing else when voting, such as whether or not they would buy it. In fact, you can look even on this thread and see people saying they voted to "Support prequels" but didn't intend to buy it . This reads like fanfiction or a fantasy, and also on a conceptual level is similar to @jdubbs's bingo, except unironically. None of this is supported by facts, so let's go through it bit by bit since I'm bored. 1. What was innacurate about the 501st set? The jet trooper not having boots? The figs and vehicles are accurate to TCW. 2. You mention the great sales of the 501st set and AAT: The 501st set, despite you just saying it was "inaccurate and overpriced", did sell well, but I've seen nothing showing the AAT being noteworthy. At the very least, it didn't have the incredibly hard-to-get sales of the mando battlepack or some other sets. 3. Yes, there are tons of trolls. One only needs to look at posts on the ideas site, any social media site, this forum, etc to see that. 4. You have literally no evidence of the gunship getting 90% of votes. 5. No, the community is not overwhelmingly prequel fans. Most of the internet-active community perhaps, but actual lego sales aren't generated solely from r/prequelmemes and MandRproduction's subscribers. 6. You are correct that the 30+ year olds would outvote younger populations on UCS sets...because they can pay for it, and lego is a company, so it wants money to feed it's employees. So yeah, they can drop the money for it...that's why those sets were made, because lego figured out people would drop the money for it. 7. This is more of a conceptual thing but you're us-v-them mentality is hilarious, it's not a fight. 8. Only prequel UCS sets is some sort of fantasy or pipe dream, that's hilarious. 9. Yes, sequel fans exist, and as you infer, a similar thing to what happened with the prequels will most likely happen with them. TLDR: None of these predictions are realistic, the us-vs-them mentality is kind of crazy, and companies generally seek to make products based on how well the products sell. Are you a leaker? No offense, I just can't keep track. I'm not, but I can confidently say it's not cody, please don't do this guys. -

I highly doubt this, at all. The overlap of UCS sets and battle packs is pretty low, as you have to remember a lot of adults only get the UCS sets, not the system ones. That said, I could see some people getting p1 shinies or 212th p2 troopers to fill it, since they're the ones shown in them in the films. 332nd troopers would be some of the least likely ones people would choose to fill a gunship. -

You absolute buffoon, I'll never bingo now! Nice card, can we title it "Wait, this isn't a $350 clone battlepack?" I swear, this set is going to end up selling poorly because half the votes seem to be from people with either unrealistic expectations, as we've seen from comments on this forum, or from people who voted for it but never intended to buy it, as we've also seen on this forum. Yeah, what the megablok is up with that? Maybe he's talking about the accents, or maybe it's just a joke. -
Star Wars Gaming wave moc-up
Mandalorianknight replied to Mandalorianknight's topic in LEGO Star Wars
As you wish, my master I did Gold Squadron, Greezy Money, and Perhelion. I did not check if these colors exist in real bricks, though. Thank you! It is truly criminal, especially after the game ended up selling well over a million copies, no way they wouldn't be able to sell some sets for it. -
Star Wars Gaming wave moc-up
Mandalorianknight replied to Mandalorianknight's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thank you, the large stinger mantis is probably the one I'm most proud of. I can't take credit for those engines though, the basic concept was first used in an official set, I think Enfys Nest's speeder bike. I merely adopted them for use in a larger ship Wow, that's some thorough feedback! Thank you so much! I agree lego needs to make some official fallen order figures and sets. Looking forewords to seeing your own builds with the lift mechanism. Do let me know if you think of a future wave for me to do, I've got no clue where to go next (aside from building the larger stinger mantis with physical bricks). I thought about it, but it's already over 850 parts, and to make it big enough to have an engine room, it would either need to be taken out of proportion or gain upwards of 400 parts. A UCS-style stinger mantis would certainly be a sight to behold, though. -

Merch leaks, though I guess inaccurate ones. They did, I think the other guy just forgot. The only thing to break the site was legocon, and that's just because they tried streaming. If the mando bp, 501st bp, UCS falcon, and other sets much more anticipated didn't break the site, the gunship won't. So that's what it was! Still not sure what the teal speeder or the other thing is. It is a great calander, probably the only one I'll buy the intended year. Nice figs, good parts, and a surprising number of minifigure scale builds as well. -

This may actually be one of my favorites. Some people like the santa figures, some people like the ones that are usable in "normal" star wars settings, this one's both. It's festive, but it can also work as just a new torso for more mandalorians. Baby yoda and the pram are separate. Anyone identified all the builds? So far I've got: 1. Razor Crest 2. ???? 3. E-web 4. tusken weapon rack 5. imperial weapon rack 6. luke's x-wing 7. ??? 8. stormtrooper 9. E-web targets 10. Tusken Raider 11. Tusken Ballistae 12. scout trooper 13. ??? 14. Scarf Mando 15. Tie Fighter 16. hoth speeder bike 17. astro sled 18. Arquitens 19. Slave One 20. Interrogator droid 21. IG-11 22. weapon rack 23. baby yoda 24. Hover Pram. -
This wave took over 6 months to get to this point due to a variety of issues (losing power almost monthly, my computer breaking, etc), so while it's not entirely finished I thought I'd post my progress so far. I noticed that for all the canon star wars games, lego does at most a battle pack or two covering the new characters (the battlefronts), and sometimes nothing at all (Fallen order and squadrons). Last year I covered squadrons content in a previous wave for the galactic civil war, so this wave is mostly dedicated to the canon battlefronts and fallen order. This is made as a 1hy wave, so it consists of 2 microfighters, a microfighter dual pack, 2 battle packs, a duel, and 4 system sets. MINOR SPOILERS for part of fallen order, nothing past the first sixth or so of the game though. Stinger Mantis Microfighter (92 pieces): The first, and smallest set, is a microfighter based off the Stinger Mantis from fallen order. This is the ship that transports the player character from mission to mission, and it's unique shape proved challenging, as you'll see in the full-size model later in the list. The ship's wing rotates, and the smaller engine wing moves independently of the main wing and...also rotates alongside it? The model sacrifices the main wing's rotation, as the ship's wing faces upright in both cruising and landing positions, but keeps the mobility of the smaller wing, as it does move between positions. The set comes with the captain, Greez Ditruis. I would have given him the double-arm piece used for Rio from Solo, but it doesn't exist in stud.io. Ebon Hawk Microfighter (102 pieces): Well, I did say mostly canon. I love the old republic, and a canon remake has been long rumored. The Ebon Hawk is the old republic's millennium falcon, so it's of course deserving of a microfighter. I think I did a good job recreating the basic shape, though the curved parts at the rear are studded more and clash somewhat with the tiled front. The ship comes with it's pilot, Carth Onasi. AAT vs TX-130 Microfighters (190 pieces): These two tanks are based off their appearances in 2017's battlefront two. The game had a rocky start, but rebounded spectacularly by the time the TX-130 was added. The main cannons on both the tanks swivel, and both have stud shooters. The figures would be a 181st Armor division trooper, and a battle droid. 87th Sentinel Corps (128 pieces): The build of this set, based off battlefront 2's 87th corps, is a republic barricade with an E-web. I wanted the battlepack build to be a thing that really existed in canon, as opposed to the random stuff that lego makes for the sets. I don't like putting new molds in the sets, but the figures, 4x 87th troopers, would have an updated p2 helmet that could fit visors and antenna. A major part of battlefront 2 is the class selection, so I included parts to transfer the troopers to different classes: a Thermal Detonator for the assault, visor, pauldron, and minigun for the heavy, sniper rifle, visor, thermal binoculars, and kama for the specialist, antenna, disrupter grenade, and pauldron for the officer, and a jetpack for the aerial trooper. Resistance Troopers (101 pieces): The build for this battlepack, based off battlefront 2's age of resistance update, is a resistance turret and some ajan kloss terrain with a command post. Also included is a small crate with spare ammo. The figures are a resistance heavy, resistance officer, aerial trooper, and caphex spy. Duel on Zeffo (189 pieces): This is based off Cal's second duel with the second sister. The build includes the elevator you go down before the fight, which can be raised to the top of the platform and then lowered by pulling back the 2x4 tile. Also included is the ray shield that ends the fight. The figures are Cal, who has a grey half-pin to show Jaro Tapal's lightsaber and BD-1 on his shoulder, and Second Sister. Battle on Sullust (377 pieces): Alright, so here's where we start getting into the bigger designs. This is based off battlefront 1 (2015), which heavily featured Sullust in the marketing and game. The build features a turbolaser turret that can be removed from the terrain, one that can rotate 360 degrees and has cannons that swivel up and down. Also included are a wall with fire control behind it, a lava river, and a crate with a feature to launch it as if it exploded. The set comes with battlefront 2015's signature troops: two magmatroopers and 2 rebels in the outfits they wear on the sullust map. Zeffo Tomb (560 pieces): This set is based off the tomb of Miktrull in Fallen order. This set is made to show more of the exploration aspect of the game, and includes representations of a few puzzles. The left section of the build features a crate that can be pushed up against the wall, allowing Cal to reach the upper floor. This leads to the middle section, which has a vine for Cal to swing on to the right section. The right area contains a wall-run feature on the left side, a removable zeffo magnet (basically just a lamp) in the wall at the front, and the inside contains a broken wall that can be "force pushed" to allow access to a stim crate. The figures included are Cal, a purge trooper, two melee scout troopers, and a buildable tomb guardian. Battle of Kashyyyk (821 pieces): This one I shared an image of awhile back on a different thread, it's based on the kashyyyk map for battlefront 2's capital supremacy. The main build is some kashyyyk terrain with a wookie hut and command post. The side builds are a full size tx-130, a STAP, and a smaller bit of terrain with a separatist command post. Figures would be two 41st siege battalion troopers, 1x 41st scout trooper, 2x wookie warriors, Dooku in his dark ritual outfit, and 2x b1 battle droids. Stinger Mantis (849 pieces): I'll be honest with you guys, this is probably the MOC I think turned out best out of anything I've ever made. This was quite a challenge to pull off, but it should work in real life (I'll be buying the parts to make sure of it.) The middle section with the wing can rotate, though the friction is strong enough that it'll lock into upright position for landing. The middle rotates around a center that keeps the front and back aligned. the ship has a ramp, spring shooters, and a fair amount of interior. There are seats for the pilot, co-pilot, and comms scanner, as well as the mission select table and a couch for Merrin. Unfortunately there was not enough room for the kitchen or engine room. The included figures are Cal with BD-1, Greez, Cere Junda, Merrin, Second Sister, and a Purge Trooper. Let me know what you think, or any questions. You think these are cool? Let me know! You think these are garbage? Let me know! Also let me know what you think I should do next. I could do another 1hy wave, a 2hy wave for one of my previous waves (I've done ones for the Siege of mandalore Clone wars arc, Galactic civil war, and The Mandalorian), or something else.

With most countries, I tend to think it all balances out between taxes, discounts, region exclusives, etc...but yeah Australia/New Zealand has it worst by far, mostly due to that "shipping to such an isolated location compared to the rest of the market" (I think Australia has a factory, but there's no way it produces enough for the whole country.) Plus, you guys have to read the instructions upside-down!
