Add "three people take obviously fake list as absolute fact" and "person asks why their pre-order hasn't arrived yet". Maybe we need a Eurobricks bingo? -

I attribute the internet popularity to two major factors: The majority of people who were kids when the prequels came out are now in the age that has the most people actively opining on star wars on the internet (or just being on the internet in general). Lots of sets are bought by people in their 30s-40s who don't spend their lives on r/prequelmemes. speaking of r/prequelmemes, that's another part. The memes of the hilariously poor dialogue, which started as poking fun at the trilogy, have gradually turned into genuine fandom for the prequels (and from personal experience, some vicious hatred of the other films). The widespread popularity of the memes leads to more internet discourse of the prequels. In 10 years or so, we'll see people loving the sequels and relentlessly trashing Taika's film or whatever movie is new at that point. To attempt to relate this back to topic, I think that the gunship hype is a vocal minority that aren't all even going to buy it. Hopefully enough of the older, non internet-active demographic will buy it, because it would be nice to get more prequel UCS sets like an ETA-2 or ARC-170. Actually they're all pretty good models IMO, even if the naboo fighter isn't really a UCS set as much as a system set with chrome elements. Maul was the one thing most people liked about TPM at the time (and still now tbh), and again even though everyone hated the prequels at the time, grievous was pretty popular. By the time of the delta they already were realizing prequel UCS didn't sell, so it was a bit on the smaller side, but it was still a pretty standard UCS based on a vehicle that had more screen focus than any of those republic vehicles in the films. Ah, the legoland spa. (There's no jango emoticon? ) -

That would be pretty cool as well, though my money's still on endor. What was wrong with the action battle ones, did they not have backpacks? I thought the overall design was the same. The changes to canon don't include "that character on-screen is actually wearing clone vambraces, despite the fact that on-screen he isn't". They tend to make changes that work around the films, such as saying rex was in the battle of endor, but they don't go to the extent of saying that what you literally see in the film is not canon. The whole Rex V Nick Sant situation is confusing, but whether you count rex as nick sant or just say rex was present offscreen, there was no-one wearing clone gear in ROTJ, and lego tends to stick to the films for the MBS sets. -

But they didn't choose sets specifically for the anniversary, again AFAIK. I suppose aside from the sets that were supposed to be convention exclusives, they didn't for ESB either, that may have muddled my point a bit. You could even argue that the AT-AT may have been influenced by it, but we were overdue for one anyway. Ok, point is, they don't make star wars D2Cs just because of a film anniversary, and we won't get pentaki in 2022. If they're unwilling to try something new, why did they put it in the vote? It's basic economics not to sell what doesn't work. So they waited 11 years, enough time for the children who grew up watching the prequels to have disposable incomes, and now they're trying to see if prequel UCS will sell. It's not an agenda, it's a smart business strategy. If they were unwilling to change or trying not to "make an effort to change", they wouldn't have put the gunship, one of the most popular prequel vehicles, in the vote, or any prequel set for that matter. -

AFAIK the only wide-release (to avoid you pedants talking about SDCC and celebration) sets lego has made for SW film anniversaries are for ESB's 30th and 40th, they don't really do it for the other films. I'd also add, where are you getting "disdain" from . Lego put the gunship in the vote to test if there was a market for prequel UCS, and now how well it preforms saleswise will determine if we get more. It's not "disdain", there's no secret anti-prequel agenda, it's basic economics. Companies sell what people buy, and lego's now testing if prequel D2Cs buy. Personally I hope they do, I'd love to see a UCS ARC-170 or V-wing (though the latter is definately a long shot). Yeah, I don't think it's coming. -

Same here, I'm glad they're keeping the 2020 design style. We don't have a leaked list yet (we just got a rather laughable fake), but we should get one soon. Clearly he's using the force to keep it upright. I think the "you don't swoosh a UCS set" argument is just poorly worded. You aren't meant to swoosh UCS sets, but you clearly can. It's the difference between attempting something and being mad it's not included. I don't sit around complaining that the UCS sets don't have handles like the system ones, but you can be damn sure I'll swoosh my UCS slave one across my house. It's possible, but I don't think it's likely. As you say, we shouldn't expect it at this point. That way it can be a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. -

Cool ideas overall, but Rex just objectively does not have clone armor in that scene. There are a couple ways I could see them doing it. Either a larger bunker with trees on either side (what I would personally want), or the bunker and the imperial landing pad/AT-AT dock. My guess: MBS Battle for Endor ($349.99): Huge Endor Bunker exterior with sliding door mechanism and tall trees on either side for ambiance, with some small ewok village elements in the trees, as well as the log trap. Bunker interior contains the command center, a hallway, an armory, the generator core, and maybe a maintenance bay for speeder bikes or something. Other builds include a small AT-ST, Ewok Glider, and 2 speeder bikes. Figures are Endor Han, Endor Leia, Endor Luke, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, 2x rebel commando (one is rex), Paploo, Chirpa, Logray, Wicket, 3x stormtrooper, 1x AT-ST driver, 1x imperial officer (Renz), 2x scout trooper, 2x navy trooper. -

Lego officially said that if you want more prequel UCS sets, get the gunship, and I don't think they'd be able to turn around a new MBS set in less than a year, considering how long the cantina was said to have been in production for. Granted, UCS is technically not MBS, but I think we can all assume we wouldn't get prequel MBS without prequel UCS. It really is, and factually accurate too! Someone keeps posting clips of that new Chris Pratt movie as well, and it's not even a good movie. I've been guessing that for a bit, unless it's a bespin duel exclusive type thing, I doubt it's real. -

Yeah, the UCS pattern is a $200 for may the fourth, than alternating between a $350ish MBS and a $700-800 UCS in september/october, with occasional extras like BB-8 and the gunship. We have 3 because of the fan vote. As others have said, the source (promobricks) is pretty legit. -

Good point, I'll take your advice. My final post on the gunship topic, unless I get direct responses: We knew from the beginning that the vote was for a UCS gunship from AOTC. From this, everyone should be able to infer that: A: It's a UCS set, meaning figures aren't a major factor, and it will be significantly larger than the system version of the craft. B: it's based off it's appearance in AOTC, meaning that the figures would most likely be from the gunship scenes in that film. I can understand being upset that there's no pilot, even though I have personally outlined before why I don't think it's a big deal, certainly not one big enough to not buy the set over. If you voted for the set, and aren't planning on buying it because of the figures, YOU are contributing to the lack of prequel UCS by not purchasing a set you voted for. Personally I think it should have been done as a pre-order type thing, so people would put their money where their mouth is instead of voting for something and coming up with baloney excuses not to get it. Yeah, but the boxart isn't the evidence, it's that they'd made clear from the day the vote was announced that it was going to be based on AOTC. Ok to try to talk about anything else: How about that book? Poe's nice as the figure I suppose, a main hero for kids to have but not something essential that adults would buy the book just to get. (I don't really mind the book-exclusive figs, but I can never justify purchasing the books as I'll never read them and then I'm basically just paying $20-30 for a minifig.) If I remember correctly we had our first leaked set lists as early as july in the past, so keep your eyes peeled, bois. -

My guy, the UCS sets aren't for figures, that's the point we're trying to get to you. There are other sets meant primarily for figures or with figures as a large factor, but with UCS sets, no, they aren't. Also, where are you getting all these ideas in the second half. They stated from the start that the figure vote was a side thing to "help them decide" or however they phrased it, and we have no evidence that mace and a cc weren't among the most voted figures that actually appeared in AOTC alongside the gunship. P2 cody was never an option, because the set was clearly based off AOTC from the start, and he wouldn't fit in such a set for very obvious reasons. And besides that, the figures aren't the main factor, the gunship is, and I haven't seen anyone say that the set isn't a good build. All the people saying lego "crushed our hopes and dreams" are either complaining about the figures, which aren't the point of UCS sets, or complaining that it wasn't the size of the system sets, which would literally make it not a UCS set. I also find "threaten" hilarious, like stating the obvious fact that they'll judge sales of the gunship when considering more prequel sets is some sort of malevolent attack. That's how business works. If you want more prequel UCS sets, buy the gunship. If you thought the gunship should have more figs/be smaller, you don't want more prequel UCS, you want prequel era system sets, and we're getting a good number of those. -

to paraphrase c-3po, I do believe they think he's some sort of god Same here. I'm telling you guys, download the part list of the 2013 one, see which one's you've got already, and bricklink the rest. There's a few tips for the more expensive parts I shared in a different thread somewhere. I want to see someone mount this thing on the wall! Could work nice on top of a large nightstand or small cabinet. I love the effort, they even add the "quad droid" thing and then add that they don't know what it means. Still super obvious though, I knew it was fake long before I saw that this was the only post on the account. -

Same here. I don't normally buy UCS (I only have Slave One, which I just bought a couple weeks ago), but a UCS ARC-170 would have me emptying my wallet instantly. These are pretty good and I'm on the MBS endor bunker hype train harder than I was on the <spoiler bc they actually showed up> in loki hype train, though given the vote percentage the bomber got, we're not seeing it anytime soon. I hadn't thought about the sail barge until you mentioned it, that's a genius idea. Ok, say we get a 25th anniversary wave for LSW in 2024. I'm going to add a couple sets to the origional list of 5, choosing remakes of some fan-favorite sets: Clone Battle pack: 25th anniversary edition ($19.99): Remake of 2007 clone battle pack. Contains a BARC speeder with sidecar and a small turret. Figures are 2x p2 clone troopers, 1x 327th trooper, 1x shock trooper, and 1x p1 clone trooper (2002) Rebel battle pack: 25th anniversary edition ($19.99): updated rebel scout speeder with 3x rebel fleet troopers, 1x rebel fleet trooper (red undershirt), and R2-D2 (1999) Speeder Bikes: 25th anniversary Edition ($29.99): 2 speeder bike builds with some endor terrain and a tree to crash into. Comes with Endor Luke, Endor Leia, a Scout trooper, and a scout trooper (2000) Ultimate Space Battle: 25h anniversary edition ($79.99, the original is the top-rated set on brickset): Ultimate space battle remake (Obi and Anakin's ETA-2s, tri-fighter, 1x vulture droid), with Obi-wan, Anakin, R2-D2, Obi-Wan's Astromech, 2x buzz droid, 2x battle droid, and Anakin Skywalker (2005) Poe's X-wing: 25th anniversary edition ($79.99, hey it'll be nearly a decade old by then): Poe Dameon's Black One with Poe Dameron, BB-8, Finn, a First Order stormtrooper, and chewbacca (2000). Republic Gunship: 25th anniversary edition ($139.99): system scale republic gunship with 2x clone pilot, 4x clone trooper, 1x clone captain, 2x super battle droid, and... jedi bob (2002) UCS Slave One: 25th anniversary edition ($299.99): Larger, more detailed version of the 2015 set with a passanger deck. Comes with Boba Fett, Han Solo (carbonite), Lando Calrissian, a Stormtrooper, and boba fett (2003). Polybags: Mini Luke's X-wing ($3.99, highest rated minibuilt on brickset) 25th anniversary Emperor Palpatine figure (GWP) -

I'm going to try one last time to explain this. The difference between getting a clone commander and mace in a gunship UCS and getting a TIE pilot in an AT-AT set is the clone and mace are heavily associated with the gunship, where the tie pilot is not associated with the at-at besides being part of the same faction. A tie pilot in an AT-AT is more akin to getting an AT-RT driver in the gunship. And while we won't get a TIE bomber next year, if it had, like, Piett and a stormtrooper or something, no one would be complaining (besides the people complaining that there's no pilot in the gunship), because UCS sets aren't meant to be piloted by minifigures. I've agreed with most of the stuff you've been saying on the gunship topic, but this is where I draw the line. Yeah, it's dumb, but as you state, it's not gonna do anything more than hurt someone's feelings, which isn't exactly a capital offense. -

I think when you say MINIFIGS ARE THE SET, people assume you're saying minifigs have a lot of importance in relevance to the set, because no one is contesting that minfigures are included in sets. No, it's not. They're figures heavily associated with the ship, and they aren't "To pilot it", because with the exception of the falcon, UCS sets are not meant to be piloted by figures. I'd much prefer a figure with a new mold to not be in a $350 UCS set. I can get MBS sets because they're more figure-oriented, but figures are not a major facet of UCS sets, so I don't think the costs of a new mold should be used for one of those. The summer 2020 and 2021 waves were plurality prequel era, how does that at all count as "barely touched upon"? -

No, they really aren't the point of a UCS set. Also rather than the snowspeeder pilot in the A-wing, it's more like Mon Mothma in the A-wing. It's not that the figure doesn't make sense in the context of the set, it's that they aren't the pilot. I didn't like it at first, but the more I think about it the more sense it makes. It's not like the minifigs of a UCS set are meant to be put in the pilot's seats, and pilots aren't always the most memorable figs associated with a vehicle. -

I might be missing something, but no, not most sets. Figures are a factor in some, and the main point of smaller sets like battlepacks, but the point of a set isn't the figures. With a UCS set, the figures are never supposed to even be a consideration, especially since the creation of the separate MBS label. -

You explain it a bit more realistically here, but it still makes no sense. Lego once again stands no reason to kneecap themselves when selling prequel sets. Again, once you bring logic to it, it fails. They will use gunship sales as evidence to whether or not to make more PT UCS, they've been incredibly transparent about that. Let me be absolutely clear: without a shadow of doubt in my mind, they WANT the gunship to sell well. How do I know this? Becuase they would make money. If it sells well, they make more money, and have a ton of new options for UCS, that being the prequel sets, to make, hence getting even more money. Lego is a massive company, they aren't dumb, they can see this. You also say that the gunship is more expensive than other OT models, and then proceed to have some serious selection bias. Look at the past 4 years, there's a pattern. $200 d2c in summer, then alternating between $350 MBS and $700-800 UCS in the fall. For a 2hy set, the gunship is on the cheap side when you average the d2c prices. Plus, the gunship was never going to be $200, a gunship at that price would barely be larger than the 2013 gunship. Also, what did I say that was "so defensive of the OT"? Literally the only time I mention it in that post is by saying that lego doesn't care about prequels v ot, which is just a fact and not "defensive" by any stretch of the imagination lmao. Every other year, my guy, every other year. Endor Bunker October 2022, here we come! Exactly. Was it shady for ESB to end on a sort of cliffhanger? As someone who tried to make a bomber MOC in the style of the 2018 tie fighter, can confirm. I think mine ended up at around 1300 pcs. -

You had a bit of sense at first with "lego will take a set they know there's demand for (501st) and make it an expensive one". I'd argue there's nothing morally wrong with that, they're a business, and they're making a fan-requested set, but it's certainly possible, if circumstantial. You completely lost me with the end. LEGO DOES NOT CARE ABOUT PREQUEL V OT. THEY ARE A COMPANY, THERE IS NO HIDDEN ANTI PREQUEL AGENDA. They stand nothing to gain from that, there's no logical reason for it, and indeed they'd suffer financial loss were it so, so it's running directly counter-intuitive to the main goal of a company. This theory is blatantly false, and once you bring an ounce of logic to it it's clearly not the case. Not when you bricklink the parts online, exclude stickers and figs, and replace the bubble turrets for the 2002 print versions... wait I'm sensing a downside here. (I did this and it worked well but took around 3 hours to list and source parts, as opposed to 3 seconds to click "buy" on the new one) -

Ah, I see. I was able to get back on brickset and confirm some things. Definitively more expensive are 7-8 UCS sets: Both falcons, both ISDs, the SSD, and all death stars (2-3 depending on whether the 2016 one counts as different from the 2008 ones) When you account for inflation, more sets such as the shuttle and sandcrawler are nearly the same price. Additionally, both Cloud city and the Cantina are the same price. It's not exactly one of the most expensive UCS sets ever made.
