LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
There's a lot of interesting stuff here. Concord Dawn, the art of the clone arm holding the droid head from one of the gunship/dropships, the AT-TEs on the asteroid, etc. Whoever made this at Lego put a lot of thought into it. -

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Mr. Sinister is supposed to be the main villain of the new series. Still has a good chance at being in system sets, but I still think he's pretty likely to show up if this is taking inspiration in any way from the new show. While I agree with some of this, I've come around to the printed visor over the molded one. Aside from the printed visor allowing for either mask-over-hair Cyclops or a multitude of hairstyles, the molded visor would probably look pretty oversized and clunky like the majority of lego's dual-molded hairstyles. -

Not that it confirms or denies anything outright, but this isn't entirely accurate. I'm not going all the way back to quote it again, but when someone said we wouldn't get deadpool 3 sets a few months ago, Falconfan said "never say never". So the movie comment on it's own doesn't mean much, but taken together with that, there's at least a chance. What if it wasn't 1-to-1, but clearly film inspired, like Miles's design in the bugle? Not that I want them to cross that line either- as much as I'd want sets for *title card* or netflix daredevil, lego is primarily a children's toy line and shouldn't do MA/R rated properties even in sets meant for adult collectors-, but they did technically get duped into producing a fig for a TV-MA rated show already with Echo's show costume. Even if the movie ends up being R, if they played with it being PG-13 for long enough to send art to LEGO, I could see a movie-inspired deadpool and/or wolveriene showing up in the mansion or something. -

Many thanks, O Great Thaedus They can still change it. Like I said, they need a box office win, and if they tone down the blood and sex jokes just a little- like to GOTG3 levels, that translates into hundreds of millions. PG-13 rated movies make a LOT more than R rated ones, and while that trend's been abating a little recently, it's not done yet. Your only hope here is your clause about it having to be tie-ins to deadpool 3, not suicide squad type "character shows up in their comic costume". I still think it's pretty plausible lego slots deadpool in the mansion set in his comic outfit, even if the movie stays rated R. Now, what if he's in the X-mansion as opposed to a tie-in set, but in the deadpool 3 costume? Would you eat the minifig? (My personal suggestion, as someone who accidentally ate a 2654 as an 8 year old, would be to eat the head, wait a few days, then grind up the torso and consume it, wait a few days, then the legs. Dunno how good of an idea it is to eat all three in the same day, and the torso and legs could both cut up or clog your digestive tract) -

Two pieces of info: Not many options for this, and notice that it's movieS, not just a movie. Course, this doesn't confirm deadpool on it's own. The other movie options aren't obvious lego tie-ins like a new star wars or other new marvel/dc, but more likely than something R-rated. However, on July 10, in response to: Falcon said . Taking these two together, it seems possible lego deadpool will happen. Don't get the fine china out yet, but you might want to start figuring out how to build up an immunity to ABS plastic. -

I don't know how much hype there is for this in the general public. At the end of the day it's an animated series, and not one for adults like *title card* I wouldn't be surprised if we got movie-inspired quicksilver or something, though they wouldn't say "from the movie" but I agree the majority of figs will be comic based. Yeah, can't wait for that 50% off on the Hoopty -

I like the notion that the spider droid being included instead of a crab droid is just because it's a standard system set, but the lack of a couple red markings means it HAS to be a ROTS set. I have no idea why this matters to anyone, this doesn't change the actual content of the set whatsoever. -

For sure, but there's no evidence it'll be '97 branded. I was even the one who brought him up last week, how could I have been so foolish? My only excuse is I was when I posted that, where he can actually say.... *title card* Given the long history of the X-men, and the fact that like spidey, there's no single popular source like there is for the Avengers, where 99% of people know them mainly from the MCU, I could easily see it just being generally X-men based like the Bugle, with characters in comic designs, '97 designs, maybe even a movie design or two. Totally agree. For how much more expensive it is than the bugle, it should have an excellent interior, but it doesn't. Not to mention the significant missing figures with characters who were never at the tower thrown in instead. -

The Bugle, which I think is the most comparable, has a ton of figures from different eras of the comic run, including a PS4-inspired Dock Ock, ITSV inspired Miles, and, of course, Spider-Gwen alongside her 616 variant. If they're comfortable putting Deadpool in a set, he'll be in the mansion. Especially now that he's integrated into the MCU, I agree. I think a lot of people just like deadpool because it's vulgar, which is a pretty immature way of looking at things. I think a movie where he's being forced to be PG-13, and fully aware of it- would be hilarious. It might also help them dip into some more interesting stuff to do with deadpool thematically. One of my favorite deadpool things is that he's aware he's not a great guy, but you get moments of his morality coming through. The one where he has to kill an innocent person to save a kid, and just talks to the innocent lady explaining why he has to do it, or the comic where he takes someone who was standing on a ledge to emergancy services because he knows that he couldn't do what spider-man or superman would do in that situation, they're both great moments that we don't really get anything on the level of in the movies. "Fights can't be brutal and/or entertaining unless they're rated R" is not a take I expected to hear in relation to marvel. First of all, it's not like deadpool's exactly known for incredible fight choreography. It's not something like invincible, where the brutality of the fights is one of it's most well-known traits. And the idea that good superhero action has to be R-rated is hilarious to me. You're saying there's not a single fight in the entire MCU that's as good as the ones in deadpool? Some of the best superhero action IS R-rated, I would say- Daredevil for instance- but there's a ton of excellent PG-13 action scenes. It's also important to note that a big part of daredevil's action is how grounded and "real" it feels, which is... not really something that fits the vibe of deadpool. You lose a significant chunk of the emotional punch of, say, Daredevil's final fight in the suite if Daredevil was making jokes the whole time. You can definately pull off good- and violent- superhero action with a PG-13 rating. I mean, Falcon and the Winter soldier was TV-14, and while I don't have much praise to offer that show, there were a couple pretty brutal bits of violence. -

I've been wondering this too. My local retailers didn't buy very many, and I see the few they did buy hanging around on sale. I also never hear anyone talk about these movies. Even the new one. It's nuts to me how they make this much money, yet the number of people I know personally who saw it is significantly lower than that of your average pre-endgame superhero or star wars film, and the most positive thing I've heard in person about it is "it was fine, looked pretty cool." I'm not saying it's going to happen, but I think it definitely can't be ruled out. Every rumor coming out about that film (and some of the people spotted on set) implies this is going to be one of the most important setups for kang dynasty/secret wars besides Loki, and given that they've had a number of commercial and critical bombs recently, they might choose to eat some anger if it translates into more sales. It's not like a significant chunk of deadpool fans are going to avoid seeing the movie because he doesn't make enough sex jokes. Thanks. That's exactly my thoughts. They're going through a lot of changes and need a win, I could see them making the move to PG-13 or even releasing a PG-13 cut alongside the R-rated version. -

If it's sized proportionally to the AT-TE, yeah, probably. We should definitely get a new gunship microfighter, but given how infrequently we get microfighters now, unfortunately I think it's stuck to super-iconic ships with super-desirable characters. maybe P2 Cody will show up in one at some point? I've done a larger Boga V Grievous and Mustafar diorama in the past, so I didn't want to put them here. (Though admittedly it's been a couple years since my Boga V Grievous, so it might be due for a remake) A large mustafar set could be really cool. A New Hope wave: Microfighter: Red Five X-wing ($9.99): Luke Skywalker (pilot) Microfighter: TIE Advanced ($9.99): TIE Advanced Battle Pack: Rebel Fleet Troopers ($19.99): 4x Rebel Fleet Trooper, build is a bit of the Tantive IV hallway and an infantry turret. Battle Pack: Death Star Troopers ($19.99): 2x stormtrooper, 2x navy trooper, Turbolaser turret, and security console. System Sets: Ben Kenobi's final duel ($19.99): hanger bay hallway with Ben Kenobi and Darth Vader. Has turntables for the fight. Landspeeder checkpoint ($39.99): Luke's landspeeder and a brick-built Dewback. Comes with Luke Skywalker, Ben Kenobi, R2-D2, C-3PO, and 2 Sandtroopers. Y-wing Starfighter ($59.99): Y-wing (smaller than 2017 but larger than 2023) with Dutch Vander, Evaan Verlaine, 1x rebel astromech, 1x rebel crew, and Han Solo. Cell Block Escape ($79.99): Security outer room with console and camera, as well as a small hallway leading to Leia's cell, and a grate that opens to a hole in the floor containing the trash compactor, which has a wall-closing feature and an exit door. Comes with Stormtrooper Luke, Princess Leia, Stormtrooper Han, Chewbacca, and 2x Navy Trooper Mos Eisley ($99.99): Mos Eisley, built as a full building that splits open to reveal the interior- 2x seated tables on one side, a table and cantina band space on the other, and the bar in the middle, as well as a dewback. Comes with Han Solo, Greedo, Luke Skywalker, Ponda Baba, Wuher, Dr. Evazan, Ben Kenobi, and 1x sandtrooper. Trench Run ($119.99): X-wing and TIE Advanced (roughly 2021 scaled), as well as a turbolaser tower. Comes with Luke Skywalker (Pilot), R2-D2, Darth Vader, 1x death star gunner, and 1x imperial officer. Tantive IV ($169.99): Tantive IV with interior cockpit and hallway. Comes with Darth Vader, 2x stormtrooper, Leia Organa, 2x fleet trooper, Captain Antilles, R2-D2, and C-3PO. Midi-Scale: Imperial Star Destroyer ($79.99) Diorama: Shoots First ($59.99): Mos Eisley cantina interior. A full table booth in the middle with half of a table booth area on either side. Comes with Han Solo, Greedo, Arleil Schous, and BoShek. Diorama: Throne Room Celebration ($89.99): Yavin throne room with figures of Leia Organa, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, and Jan Dodanna. Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I could honestly see deadpool 3 being moved to PG-13 given how important it's rumored to be to the MCU as a whole. I can't see marvel locking a main plot-mover behind an R rating after all their recent misses. There are a lot of good jokes to be made out of deadpool being censored, and knowing it. Could even do something like have the TVA implement some sort of restraint on him and have him literally bleep when he swears like the one girl in Scott Pilgrim. Add in that it would definately still get it's one F-bomb, and I think it could honestly be pretty entertaining. I believe the phrasing of the bet means our compatriot may have to eat some plastic even if that is the case, but that's up to him to decide. We just went over this a few pages ago, they aren't doing lego *title card*, even if there are blue aliens in it. But yeah, Avatar's a big possibility. It's got to be something with a confirmed 2024 release date. -

... I think the translation has failed you here. What part of the character are you hoping gets a new mold. "Bust" here means either a statue of the head and shoulders or... a different part of the body. This is really funny to me, that we essentially only got season 2 sets. Even one of the CMF series 1 figures was from season 2! -

Alright, it's been long enough, we're hitting em with the double post: ROTS Wave: Microfighter: Anakin's Eta-2 interceptor ($9.99): Anakin Skywalker (comm printing) and an R2-D2 head. Microfighter two-pack: Boga and Wheel Bike ($19.99): Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Grievous. Battle Pack: CIS Droid army ($19.99): 4x b2 battle droid, 2x b1 battle droid, buildable crab droid. Battle Pack: Clone Legions ($19.99): 1x clone "shiny", 1x 501st trooper, 1x shock trooper, 1x 212th trooper. Build is one of the manned artillery pieces in the venator. System Sets: Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter ($19.99): Plo Koon, Plo Koon's astromech, and Clone Captain Jag Droid Tri-Fighter ($29.99): 2x buzz droid, 2x clone trooper (no legion) Felucia battlefield ($39.99): Swamp speeder (significantly larger than 2023 332nd one) and some of the unique felucia terrain with Commander Bly, Aayla Secura, 2x 327th trooper, and 2x buildable droidikas. Tri-Droid attack ($69.99): Massive Tri-droid with Ki-Adi Mundi, 4x Galactic Marine, Commander Bacara, 1x dwarf spider droid, and 2x b1 battle droid. Battle of Kashyyyk ($99.99): Corporate Alliance tank droid, a large tree build with a wookiee hut, and a small wookiee fluttercraft. Comes with Yoda, Gree, 1x kashyyyk scout trooper, Tarffull, 2x wookie, and 3x b1 battle droid. Dogfight over Coruscant ($109.99): Anakin and Obi wan's jedi interceptors (300pcs each), as well as 2 vulture droids (200pcs each). Comes with Grievous, 2x nemodian, 2x b1 pilot, 2x b2 battle droid, Count Dooku, Palpatine, Anakin Skywalker, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Midi-Scale: Venator Class Star Destroyer ($79.99) Diorama: Obi-Wan vs Grievous ($69.99): Utapau hanger with Obi-Wan Kenobi, General Grievous, and 8x battle droid (Figure it's ok since they're cheaper to produce than minifigs). Quote is "Hello there!" -Obi-Wan Kenobi Diorama: Darth Vader is Born ($89.99): Palpatine's medical chamber with Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, and the three medical droids. Quote is "NOOOOOOOOOO" -Darth Vader UCS/MBS: UCS ETA-2 Interceptor ($239.99): Anakin Skywalker (double sided head with comm printing, arm printing), R2-D2 (new "torso" element that allows the head to rotate, as well as an attachment point for a third leg (using existing pieces) This was a tough one to be honest. So much clone-centric content's already been done in the past few years, and I recently designed some of the ones I'd have put here, like an ARC-170, mustafar diorama, and V-wing. -
Sure, it's "free", but that doesn't mean it's unable to be judged. Especially when we have cheaper examples like the blacktron ship and Toa Tahu, or the Star Wars dioramas of the past few years (The GWPs, not the system ones). The Majisto GWP has more parts, sure, but it doesn't feel up to that bar. Now part of it might be that I don't have much of an attachment to dragon knights or Majisto, but then again, I don't have much of one to Blacktron either, and looking at the two of them I'd honestly say the blacktron cruiser is a superior set, and was at a $60 cheaper threshold.

No. As far as I remember, they base regional deals off shipping address, so you'd have to have someone ship the batcave to you from australia, which basically removes your discount. (also, $120 AUD off is less than $80 USD off, which is still a solid deal, but again, international shipping from australia for a set that big is gonna be about that much anyway.) -

I don't think that's carol, I think it's the MCU's Mar-Vell. I also would say I don't think Captain Carter is leading that group. It's definitely possible given the multiverse breaking apart, but we know Bucky wasn't the winter soldier in that universe. I'm willing to come into this more open-minded, since the trailer looked pretty good, but man, does the concept of Kahhori so perfectly summarize my issues with the what if show. They literally just made an OC. But yeah, a 90s avengers quinjet set with Hank Pym ant-man, Bucky, Mar-Vell, and T'chaka could be awesome! -
Filoni actually tries to be a lot more in line with Lucas's general ideas than anyone else. The clone thing was a reference to a fan theory that one of them looked a lot like Old Rex. The half-naked kit fisto thing is correct- it's been in both clone wars series, the one without filoni and the one with filoni. IIRC the blacktron cruiser was $190 and Toa Tahu was $100, both significantly less than $250. The Majisto GWP has a few more parts, but the quality really isn't there for how much higher the threshold is in my opinion.

I did not have "Moderator implies "Most soldiers were/are men so I prefer the sets to have mostly male soldiers" is code for "I hate women"" on my bingo card for 2023 And imagine how much cheaper this would be on bricklink. I'd hazard a guess that without the figs you could get this cottage for ~$20-25, including shipping, and probably another $10-15 max for the figs. Ironically the guy who falls off the gunship doesn't have a name, but there's a 2 season 2D animated microseries titled "clone wars", a 7 season 3D animated series titled "The clone wars" and it's 2 (soon to be 3) season spinoff about more clones, as well a number of appearances in other animated and live action shows. One even got retconned into ROTJ.

Of course. I think a big part of it is the size of the wave/sets. Personally, I much prefer the revitalized, re-scaled X-wing and TIE to, say, Poe's X-wing. But with it being just a couple sets in january, usually all under $50, it's hard to get as excited as I used to be. I'd hesitate to even call it a wave of sets. -

Yes, him! Yeah, that's really just down to a new mold being needed to make this fit perfectly. The hair's coming from the top of the head and falling down around the sides over the fabric, so I don't think less flat hair is that much of an issue. (Scott doesn't have Sam's cut in the comics, after all) Only the first two episodes so far, weekly release, but only four episodes of *title card* this year before a midseason hiatus. See, I don't have a huge issue with stuff like not every character that should have dual molding having it. Fine, budget or whatever. But with stuff like the wrong hair, or not having yellow hips, it just feels like a weird oversight. It wouldn't cost lego any more to make it accurate, so why doesn't he have them?
