LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Mandalorianknight replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Look I know lego's been loosening it's standards but is anyone seriously dumb enough to believe that? The amount of parents who'd stop buying... hell, I'D stop buying legos, and I not only don't have kids but am all for them doing sets on more mature properties like Dune. Speak for yourself, buddy. My Jaundice-ridden Han clones are the strongest military force in the galaxy. An army that always shoots first. (No but actually I only bought one due to Han's inclusion. Same'll be true of this beskar trooper pack.) Same here. I really hope that information's wrong and it's just a generic male and female mandalorian. ...why? 3.5 figs in a $30 set is perfectly reasonable, and it fits with lego's attempt to flood shelves with clones. I'm a seller on the site and while they haven't kept me updated any more than anyone else, I still can't access my account. I believe they received a threat of being hacked and to preserve everyone's security they've temporarily bricked the site. I hope they take as long as they need to get it resolved, the amount of financial info that a hacker could get off that site... Same here. That temple rumor is incredibly suspicious to me, too. $160 for a microscale temple is a really weird price. Why not do what they did with Yavin, and just do a facade of the temple with rooms inside? The only minifigure being Yaddle is also suspicious to me. Sure, it's something diehards have wanted, but the non minifig-compatible star wars sets normally don't have figs at all (UCS exempted) -

Oh no I definitely agree, I'm just trying to scare you. Though it seems to have backfired... deadpool figs are one expensive culinary habit, man. Oh I'm sure daredevil will appear in projects with TV-14 or below age ratings, but I think it's pretty clear at this point his show's gonna be TV-MA, unless Echo does horrendously and marvel's dumb enough to think that the audience's issue with it was it being TV-MA. -

It's pretty solidly set at R-rated or TV-MA properties being the cutoff. Pretty much all of the specific things have shown up in stuff lego's done sets on in some way (Eternals has a sex scene, the MCU has plenty of alcohol, GOTG 3 has the F-bomb, Andor was pretty mature in almost every way, etc) You can also see this through lego ideas, which seems to unanimously nope anything from a property of that rating. (No, I'm not bitter that I couldn't do a set of Harvey's office from suits despite it not really being any more explicit than the office. Why would you say that?) We can see lego's view pretty clearly. Joker from PG-13 films is fine. Joker from 2019 is not. Wolverine is fine. Old Man Logan sets are not. Characters known most for R/TV-MA properties suffer the most from this, since it's difficult for them to get figs even based off content with more child-friendly ratings, such as DD and punisher only appearing in an 18+ set despite being in bright colored comics costumes, and poor Deadpool being relegated to comic-con variants. There is a pretty clear cutoff between stuff that's "mature in a way" but still TV-14/PG-13 or below and stuff that is straight up R rated or TV-MA. Stranger things, James Bond, and Dune are all PG-13/TV-14 (I don't remember if there are R-rated james bond projects but IIRC the one the set's based off is PG-13). The reason Echo is such a big deal is because lego's sort of retroactivly now covered content from a TV-MA series. I can't imagine they're happy about it. -

If Echo is TV-MA, Daredevil definitely will be- hence it's unlikely to get figs in a future CMF. All indications are that lego only made Echo for the CMF because they didn't know the show would be TV-MA. -

Ah, yeah that's gunmetal, so it'll be 2, you should be good. Not just the jetpacks will be cheaper. Between the first set, the battle pack, and at least one book, I feel like lego was led to believe the Fleet Commander would be the new main character of the show and produced an insane amount in anticipation of his massive popularity. And then he got like 2 shots and what, one line? I feel like if you're concerned about having exactly three Praetorian guards in the scene, you know what bricklink is. The rumor is lego counts a fig as $3, so that would fit, but at the same time grogu is two pieces with no articulation within them like torsos and legs have. -

This is exactly it. They definately were under the impression it would be TV-14 like all the other shows. Most leakers were until right before the trailer reveal. That said, they now have the ability to claim the same with deadpool 3 if the designers REALLY want to mess up @BrickBob Studpants's day. This is exactly what I think too, also hence Daredevil in the trailer and fisk's prominence. If echo is TV-MA, there's no way daredevil isn't. I don't think we're getting sets with them. Kingpin would have been possible in a hawkeye set, and Daredevil and Punisher could show up in a secret wars set down the line, but nothing based on their shows unfortunately. (Or at this point fortunately. I'm gonna be honest, I have absolutely no faith in them being anything but a mockery of the netflix shows) -

This is one of the best moves by lego in a LONG time. Putting Rex in a $13 set (and making the microfighters $13, a price that's much more reasonable of an increase than the $16 N-1), is awesome and I will be picking one up day one. Bro would have ended the clone wars in a matter of hours. On the bright side, I doubt this would have been a cheaper way to get gray jetpacks. Fleet Commander uses a gunmetal jetpack, the beskar troopers have white ones (That shouldn't use the mandalorain jetpack mold, but not a huge deal) and Koska's will likely be gunmetal as well. At best, Koska's is gray and you'd get one gray jetpack per $20 spent. Overall thoughts: Rex Y-wing. Excellent move by lego. Given the popularity of Rex, they could have kept it at $16, but the decrease back to $13 is great and the whole set is really a show of good faith. 9/10 unless the Y-wing design is the worst thing to ever grace lego's shelves. And given they've already done 2 y-wing microfighters, it'd be hard to mess this up. Luke Mech: This was a terrible choice. Why not a mando mech? A clone mech? Someone with armor? I can't see this doing well at all, especially when a set $3 cheaper will be right next to it with a more desirable fig and canon (if out of scale) build. This is like a 3/10 unless it transforms into his x-wing or something. Imperial supercommandos pack: you had literally one job lego and you messed it up. Why not do 3 beskar troopers and a praetorian in this and move Koska to the bunker set? Same amount of new prints, and the battle pack actually gets to be a battle pack. I'll likely still pick up one, but I would have picked up at least 3 if it was a bona-fide battle pack. The set'll probably be good, 7.5ish out of ten, but was an easy 9/10 that they somehow screwed up. Were there just a ton of leftover fleet commanders? mando bunker: This really seems like a set just for the figs. If the build is good, I might consider it, but since I have Paz and am not really interested in the other figs (cool that Dark Moff is coming, but I just didn't care about Gideon at that point, and the Praetorians, while awesome, just aren't worth $40 for 2 for me), I think I'll leave it be personally. I'm not gonna rank this one because unlike the others the build matters a lot more, but overall it seems like it'll be... fine. An understandable choice of set to get some wanted figs out there. -

Yeah, I got no answer for you there, just that it's not because they're avoiding parts that could make nude yellow figs (I mean, even without the classic space, minecraft, etc, this dude was in the gay people set, and he's just... fully nude. Doesn't even have a face.). Maybe the superheroes designers just think bright light orange looks cooler. -

Man, we are... we are really degenerating this forum. On the bright side, I can be a little more clear about this comment: Whoever was intrigued by this, what people are saying the rogue looks like is what actually happened to core class shockwave. Somehow spread virally through a TON of transformers social media sites. Hence why I wouldn't want to see a lego miss minutes given the internet's reaction to Shockwave of all characters, after what Miss Minutes did in ep 3. Also, and somehow even MORE off topic, that may be the scariest marvel villain in the show. Her face when , truly horrifying. At first I couldn't think of any figs with yellow hips, but... no, there are a good number. Recent ones, too. Yellow Spacemen, the Ocelot minecraft skin, etc. I mean, if we're going off the "it's because they don't want it to look like the figs are nude" logic- which does make sense- would that make all the yellow spacemen just nude guys with their organization's logo tattooed on their chests? -

IIRC the official policy is "just don't tell us you're under 18". I'm 19, so... don't look to my oldest posts. I only got this because I have some messed up friends, but... black cat makes a joke about it in the Spectacular Spider-Man show. I definitely agree with @Legocentrico that we shouldn't go farther I honestly thought it was Jean at first. I know the jacket being green is on the show, not the fig, but still. Rogue isn't a redhead, and that printing for the torso and legs is definately rough. It's not terrible, but... for 4 figs in an $80 set, one of whom is almost certainly a re-use... not gonna cut it. -

It's the best polybag we've gotten for a licensed theme in forever: Super desirable fig Fig-scaled build Build, like you say, is a great display companion, adding to the figure's impact rather than being some random mech or vehicle. -

I will not say what specifically happened, but if you look up the figure you should be able to find memes about it. So assumably this is an age of ultron set, right? Do we have a price point? -

I'll say it again- one look at the piece count tells us EXACTLY what they were thinking- or rather, what they were on- while designing this one. -

As an american, where the magazines don't show up, I honestly also kind of wish they'd do it. The figs don't go ALL the way down to magazine price on sites like BL after the mags show up in europe, but they do decrease somewhat. That said, the figs are assumably more expensive to produce. -

At Hasbro's 1027 event they also revealed a black series multipack of Mace Windu and his purple clone legionnaire. I can't help but think the purple clone is connected to last year's fighter tank, as it's such an obscure character. -
Thank you so much! That's a good suggestion for Dooku's hair, and all around good ideas for expanding the set. I was trying to keep it at the same rough piece count as the Starkiller Base and Mustafar duel sets, but that subline really didn't end up panning out so I probably could have expanded it. Thank you! It's great to see these comments. Thanks! I'm very happy with the Acclamator's final design, and look forewards to sharing more of my work in the future!

Dune 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Mandalorianknight's topic in LEGO Licensed
At least from what I'm hearing from people around me (even those who aren't huge lego fans- I didn't realize Dune made such an impact, but I'm glad it did), it's doing pretty well pre-order wise, which hopefully means lego will consider more sets in the future. This might not be the perfect place, but here are a few ideas: House packs: House Atreides battle pack: 2x armored Atreides soldiers and 2x plainclothes Atreides soldiers with knives. Comes with an Atreides banner, tripod-mounted lasgun, and small barricade House Harkonnen battle pack: 4x Harkonnen soldier (carrying their weapons) with a House Harkonnen banner, some sort of siege tool, and a small barricade that can be busted open. Fremen warriors battle pack: 4x Fremen warriors (carrying crysknives and 1 lasgun) with a build replication a sand trap (a small sand dune build with a trapdoor to have a Fremen burst out of the sand, as well as a Fremen banner. Imperial Sardukar battle pack: 4x Sardukar troopers (though I'm not sure how they'd handle the... "finishing paint" of the armor) with both weapons, as well as an imperial banner and a small play feature for them to rappel off some sort of drone. Standard set: Ornithopter escape ($34.99): The smaller, 2-seater Ornithopter with Paul Atreides (stillsuit) and Lady Jessica (stillsuit), as well as a Sardukar soldier. There aren't many mid-sized vehicles in dune, usually just gargantuan crawlers and ships, and besides the Ornithopter I don't think any are iconic enough for wide release yet, though I'm sure that will change with the second film. I think some of the Dune games would be a good source for vehicles here, and a way for different characters and outfits to be included. Dioramas: Leaving Caladan ($69.99): Caladan cliffs above water with graves, most prominently that of Leto's father, with the bullfight image inscription printed on a tile. Comes with Paul Atreides and Duke Leto. Quote is "Your grandfather said, "A great man doesn't seek to lead. He's called to it. And he answers." And if your answer is no, you'll still be the only thing I ever needed you to be, my son.". Shai-Hulud ($99.99): This has roughly the same silhouette as the emperor's throne room diorama from star wars, except the build is the gaping maw of a sandworm, with a bit of desert below it and figures of Paul and Lady Jessica (hooded, with shadowed eyes). The quote is “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer." -

I want you to think about another CGI-heavy action movie franchise that may or may not feature a yellow car in a very prominent role (I am, of course, talking about Luigi or whatever his name was from cars) I don't think I could handle the internet's reaction to a lego miss minutes after the latest episode. I'm a transformers fan and still shuddering over what happened to Core Class Shockwave. -

Nah, he was more obscure than Homelander. I looked through the past decade of movies and couldn't find one of him. I want to say his cape was more generic too, and he had some letter on his chest or something? Maybe an H, I vaguely remember it being related to hope. Don't forget Harley Quinn! Batman mech, gotcha. Immediately swear fealty to the owner of the bust. (They obviously lead the society) (We do live in one, after all) -

I don't actually think we've ever had stuff in one of the marvel specials before we knew the set was coming. DC used to package exclusive minifigures alongside the dvds of these specials, but come to think of it I don't think marvel did those, and either way the practice died with the advent of streaming. -
Thank you! Yeah, it looks a little weird, but like you say, I try to make these playsets. I'll throw a bone to lego here and say that while my V-wing *should* be fairly stable, the average 6-8 year old would probably wreck by grabbing the nose as hard as possible. Still no excuse for how lego completely fails to include the wing function though. Thank you! I feel like now that lego's invested so much in 18+, we should be able to get legends stuff for adult collectors instead of focusing only on the main saga and newer spinoffs. Thanks! That's a good point. I guess it just doesn't feel like the type of thing lego would make to me, but I suppose they did sort of kill off that duel set concept entirely after only 2-3 sets. Thanks. I thought it was a fun way to make it a bit more dynamic. The Homestead was a lot of fun to make (totally agree about advent calendar figs, by the way). I have no rational reason for liking the headhunter as much as I do. I totally see the "watered down x-wing" idea. But somehow I still love the design. Thank you! I'm very happy with how it turned out. Actually, I believe I've posted the ARC as well, just in imperial colors. Your wishlist waves are always great to see, I'm excited for the next one you do, however long it may be. Thank you so much! No, man, thank you for suggesting that, it's by far the MOC I'm most proud of. This is a bit of a tangent, but from what I remember (There was some article about it I read as a kid) being hired by lego is analogous to being kidnapped. If I remember right, they basically lock you in a hotel in Denmark, limit your access to the outside world, and have you compete in various building challengers against other potential employees over a 2-week span.
