Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
It's why he doesn't have a figure, Lego knew if he was created they wouldn't be able to put this thing out 1. I always use this to out-pedant the pedants when they say the "Frankenstein was the doctor" thing 2. James Gunn would agree with you, however, if the high evolutionary realized what he's created and wants to take rocket back out of this world, I'm with him. That thing makes the lego yoda look like an upstanding member of society. -

This is what I was beginning to suspect, not to mention that it'd be weird for this to be the only thing known about an august set when the anniversary figs were the last thing leaked for the may sets. -

Honestly, halo being sci-fi and having cheif's bloody enemies be very alien makes me think it if it wasn't for Mega Construx, a Halo 18+ collectors set wouldn't be impossible. (Unlike something like invincible, which is just waaaaaay to violent, or games and shows with more explicit sexual content- that said, they did eternals sets, so who knows at this point) -

I 100% think you're on the money here. We'll see figs that already exist in lego form/are from a franchise lego owns- that said, there's still legal knots to be worked out, I'm sure- but definitely not for more mature stuff. That said, just having lego and invincible in the same game makes me very happy, even if I recognize it's probably good we'll never get lego invincible. -

If they don't leak beforehand is the big thing. They hadn't been revealed yet, but I believe that we actually saw them weeks beforehand as set leaks. For marvel, all we've gotten is an image of rocket from someone who apparently didn't buy him. I could see lego waiting until the 15th or so to reveal the sets, but I'd be shocked if we didn't have back-of-instructions images by then, if not in-hand images of someone picking them up. I know people've already found the 2024 star wars system set in stores. (Yeah, the one standard system set we're getting this wave...) -

You're 100% right. Even if we take out some of the more wobbly clues like "could potentially beat jango" (A B1 could potentially beat jango given the right circumstances- "potentially" stops this hint from having any real meaning besides it not being, like, a literal infant without the force.) or "drives a honda civic" (which confirms to me that some of these are jokes, because... that's clearly just a reference to the yoda memes), the remaining ones are still pretty solid to remove just about every character it could be- Human O in name White on outfit Live action There aren't too many of these, and I think we've run through all of them. There's a finite number of named humans in live action with an O in their names, you can run through pretty much all of them, and I think we have. This sentiment still confuses me. Like, it's a good-priced set. Of course there could always be more. Every set could have the visor pack, or swappable helmets/hair, or swappable P1 and P2 helmets, or more blasters, or what have you. No one's denying that the set would be better if it had more stuff, that's pretty basic "how purchasable items work". What annoys me is seeing people complaining that one of the only star wars sets in a WHILE to genuinely be really good value doesn't have more stuff. -

I also want to throw this out there- assuming this is right, it re-opens a lot of options. Most SW characters can probably beat a human politician in combat, and "potentially" beat jango has a lot more wiggle room (Is there a vehicle they can pilot? Could they just get a lucky shot in? Are they friends with a beast that can trample it? Are they Wilrow Hood, who's ability to push past main characters in hallways implies he'd be able to bodyslam jango to the ground and knock him out by whacking him with the ice cream maker?) -

Lego can't just include a single part from the pack- IIRC it's one molded batch like the ninjago weapon packs or superheroes power/web packs. So the choice was put the pack (of 8, by the way. Not a huge change but still) in the mech, or not give boba his rangefinder, and given how we're apparently gonna start complaining about them not being in sets where none of the figures need them, could you IMAGINE what people would have said if it wasn't in the boba mech. Yes, they hypothetically could have, but my point is they weren't by any means necessary, and them not being included isn't really a mark against the pack. I never said that this made it more accurate, just that it's not inaccurate for them not to have it. Not to mention, Vaughn's men don't have attachments in the set images, the pack is there because Vaughn needed it. But in general, what would you have wanted them to do? The current part pack doesn't exist in red or black. Would you have preferred they recolor it, and we lose the plain P2 helmet print or get a higher price on the set? It's not like this set is bad value by any means- the 501st set from 2020 would be over $35 today from inflation- so I don't get why we're complaining that it needs extra stuff when it's one of the few reasonably priced sets they're putting out in this theme. -

Look, it'd have been nice for them to add them, but this is a super minor thing. None of these clones are meant to have visors or rangefinders, so it's not like this makes them inaccurate. It would have been a nice little addition, but I don't think there's any real reason to be annoyed by it. It'd be like complaining about every set with Mando that doesn't have a rangefinder pack. -
DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
As much as I'd love more Dark Knight sets, the case isn't "There has never been any material to make sets from". It's "DC doesn't have enough material out kids are interested in for us to make sets from". Their movie franchise is generally considered a failure, with the only critically acclaimed or fan loved films in the last 5 years being R-rated (Snyder Cut, Joker. Note that The Batman, another one that was received well and only PG-13, did get a good number of sets) The only network/streaming major cartoon released in the past 5 years was seasons of Teen Titans Go. Batman is the only guy they have that'll sell reasonably well with or without any recent tie-ins, and as such, they give us only Batman. There are things lego can do. I've suggested a batman wave with a leaguer in each set a few times now. But the fact is they aren't lying about this. If they could make good money off wider DC sets, they would. But the fact is, most kids just don't care, and lacking a successful movie universe or cartoon franchise, they won't suddenly jump back in. -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I can exclusively confirm that the villain in the war machine mech set is Terrance Howard But as a side note, how weird is it that Miles is the "enemy" in the venom mech? I know we weren't gonna get a new fig like Anti-Venom, but... not Peter? not Carnage? The only material I can think of where Miles is established as spidey and Venom is a villain is the Ps5 game, which I don't think we're getting sets of unfortunately. (Or the 2017 spider-man cartoon... maybe? I vaugly remember watching the first season and them having dealt with venom before Miles became... Arachnid. I don't care what they're calling him in other media, I refuse to accept spin.) I don't actually care much- I don't think I'm gonna get the venom mech, and it makes sense on some level since IIRC miles isn't in the other spider-man sets, so it makes sense to throw him into something to have the three main spiders in the wave- but still, weird. Unless it's ps5 miles, in which case I will buy the mech- provided it's his awesome default suit and not whatever that final suit is supposed to be. Like you say, it'd be nice, but won't happen. On a silver lining note, if the MCU can't right it's ship and gets to the point of the DCEU, going off DC's track record, eventually ALL we'll get are Raimi sets, so.... -

You know, people actually like other themes. Wild. I don't think we have sales figures for Dreamzzz yet, but Friends and ninjago are usually on par with, if not significantly above, marvel's sales. I assume the licensed themes being last (Though Star Wars got out the same time as everything else this year) is due more towards the IP owners being very specific about the appearances of everything. Yes. You used to be able to buy sets well before release if retailers accidentally put them out before their street dates, but lego allegedly patched this by making it so attempts to ring up the set before it's release don't go through or have some sort of "this isn't out yet" pop-up at major retailers. So you can find it in the store, but when the cashier rings it up it'll tell them they aren't allowed to sell it yet. I think you're right on the money about the first part, but I'd be shocked if both Hulk and Hawkeye were in it. My guess would be a repeat of AoU cap or widow and either hulk or hawkeye. What's this about the venom mech having Miles? If they start putting two figs into the $15 mechs, I'll be back to thinking they're worth it, even with the lame pre-bent joints. -

to be fair, I wouldn't spend $55 on that thing, even if it got me an early look at the other sets. Though it's somewhat likely they tried to buy it, but it was streetdated at checkout. I've heard of this happening before. -

But at the same time, it's not like he's researching these, I feel like most people's gut reaction would be that the pilot in two seconds of episode 4 could not beat Jango. I honestly don't think we're gonna figure this one out. Did falconfan say what set this character comes in? Not that it'll help identify it, but I didn't even think we had any sets without concrete descriptions left in 1hy. -

Darn. (I mean, I didn't want it to be Meetra Surik, but it at least would have been somewhat interesting to see what Lucasfilm regards as the character's true appearence) Though, yeah, I think BoShek is currently the best call, even if it's a pretty big stretch to say he'd have a chance against jango. -

Everything else fits, but... would it? There are a gazillion cantina patrons on tatooine. That's another wiggle room one, given that while he's technically force sensitives, he wasn't really swinging around a saber or choking people from across the room. I feel like "probably could beat jango" means it has to be a pretty skilled jedi, sith, or bounty hunter. I'll throw one out, not bothering whatsoever to check the criteria list: Meetra Surik/The Exile from KOTOR 2. Controversial due to not having a set appearance with any defined look, and for those same reasons could easily be wearing white. A human and powerful force user, Old Republic planets (Specifically the sith academy where most of KOTOR 2 takes place) would narrow it down significantly, and IIRC she's referred to as "the Outcast" somewhat commonly, so there's your O. If we use copium for the O part, the fig could also be Revan (Jedi Robes)/Revan (Prodigal Knight), since the jedi incarnation of Revan has not yet been made. Wait, you've answered your own question! He would be controversial because he's a pretty plain figure to include as an anniversary fig. -

This thing is seriously like a work of art, I'm impressed how studless you've gotten it. That said, I think there are definitely edits you can make. You see the new color coming next year? Reddish Orange/Sand Orange? The tomato soup looking one? Looks like a perfect fit for the Hawk's paint job. -

Honestly I feel like this is just objectively significantly better value than the 501st pack. First off, like you say, it'd be $35 today. Now it is 70 more pieces, but if you look at more of a price-to-volume-of-stuff ratio, it feels like you get more in the 2024 set anyway! The octuptarra droid looks like it'll be comparable to the AT-RT (The AT-RT might be denser, but the octuptarra's got a wider footprint). Obviously the included speeder is smaller than the BARC, but I feel like the BARC would even out to roughly the speeder and bunker (Actually, I'm fairly confident I made a more size-accurate BARC when that set first came out and I used the leftover parts to make a turret of some sort, which is funny). As for the figures, they're about the same (3 of one clone, 1 variant clone, and 2 B1s), but you're adding on the 3 B2s. So basically, you're getting three extra droids and a STAP for what'd be $5 LESS in today's money. (And actually, $30 in 2020 would be around $35.66 today just off US inflation, not even putting lego's own increases into account... man, it's... it's not goin great here. Anyway. Point made. This set is really good value.) -

I think we just heard that leg prints are up to 3x more expensive than torso prints or something from one of the designers, but that just feels off to me somehow. A lot of the sets we got pictures of yesterday had the pictures come out an hour or two later than the time it is right now, so I'd say there's still some hope. I'm shocked it's taken as long as it has though, we're less than a month out. I hate to say it, but given how I can't remember standard-release system sets having image leaks or being revealed this late in the game... could these have been delayed to March? Not saying it's the case, but I think it might be a possibility. -

No, that's been delayed an unknown amount of time- the show itself is supposedly either nearly done or fully finished, but disney's inexplicably delayed it, supposedly all the way to holiday 2024! My guess is Marvel'll be tonight, but you never know. -

It really is Ketamine Yoda These are all great points but I want hijack your post to reiterate- GUYS, it is not supposed to be a barc speeder. It is based off the 2007 speeder bike. It shares no design features in common with the barc speeder other than being a speeder bike. Structurally it is more similar to a 74-z or the one from the 2016 rebel battlefront pack. -

I should have clarified but I was joking This is where I think falconfan might just be messing with us a bit- this is likely a reference to a set of memes in which Yoda drives a honda civic and is addicted to Ketamine.
