Yes, it's the same designer. -
LEGO Hidden Side 2020

Those Bionicle references were put in there by Toothdominoes (the designer of the set), which is a Bionicle fan himself. If it weren't for him, we probably wouldn't be seeing any references like that in LEGO sets whatsoever. While LEGO may have forgotten about us, at least we still have a few designers that care about us. -
Eh... Rise of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had good animation, but it was a pretty bad TV Show otherwise. I really hope that doesn't also happen with the Monkie Kid TV Show.

So,10$ for those suits that are made up of like... 4 pieces? Are you kidding me? Not only are those suits completely useless unless the you have the 60$ Starter set, but even on their own the price just isn't worth it. I am sorry to say it, but other than a few hardcore Nintendo fans, I can't see anyone buying those.

I'm really happy that the designers sometimes think about us and trow in random references for us to enjoy... It's really cool to see a Bionicle reference here, like they they did for the Paranormal Intercept Bus. -
Built for the Bio-Cup 2020 Preliminary Round, the theme being "The Future".

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Lego David replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Now, don't get me wrong. I like this theme, and I fully appreciate the attempt. While I do have my concerns and criticisms, I still really want it to succeed. At the end of the day, it's an original theme, and in the modern era where licensed themes seems to dominate LEGO's market, any new original theme is more than welcome. -

Though I can see this line being popular amoug Chinse kids, that harsh comment from Brickset suggests that Chinse AFOLs aren't big on this line... And as a result, they probably wouldn't buy the sets for themselves nor for their kids. So yeah, it seems like this line has quite a lot going against it being successful... -

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Lego David replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I am seriously worried about this theme's sales. The ridicuously high prices, the competition with Ninjago, and the COVID-19 pandemic, are all going against this theme being successful. If this "big bang" theme ends up flopping right from the start, it could end up being the nail in the coffin for Non-Ninjago original themes. -

So those absurdly high prices are real? Man... I can already forsee the theme not selling well. -
LEGO Ideas Discussion
Lego David replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
How in the world did this project get to 10k so fast if most people here never even knew this TV Show existed? I belive most likely the creator managed to promote his set outside of the LEGO community to non-lego fans of this TV Show. Otherwise, I can't think of any other reason why this thing would have achieved 10k so fast. -
The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Lego David replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I am in full agreement. As a younger fan, I never grew up with the vintage space themes, but looking back at them, I was blown away by the incredible color schemes, and that really got me invested into those themes. In my opinion, that really sets them appart from the Star Wars ships which feature incredibly dull color schemes, consisting mostly of grey and white. With that said, I still believe a Sci-Fi Space LEGO Ideas set could gain 10k supporters if properly promoted. If Bionicle (which is a lot more niche than In-House Space) managed to do it, I am pretty sure an In-House Space can do it as well.- 991 replies

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Lego David replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Are you sure it was this year? We know most (if not everything) that is coming out this year, and none of it is a returning theme.- 991 replies

With that in mind, I think the Fire Truck set being a retail exclusive isn't as unlikely as we thought. -
I'd love to see some Legacy remakes of some of the older Villain vehicles, such as the Skeleton and Serpentine vehicles. All of the Legacy remakes we have gotten so far are just remakes of the Ninja's vehicles.

Lego is dropping behind dragon designs
Lego David replied to Medzomorak's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Is it just me or those Creator Dragons got worse and worse as time went on? The 2007 and 2009 versions look fantastic, while the more recent ones don't look as good in my opinion (the 2020 one being my least favorite). -

Well, I looked at the prices from that Hungarian website, and the prices there seemed to be about the same as the Hong Kong ones... -
The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Lego David replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Well, the promotion certainly helped. In the period soon after it was discovered that Bionicle was allowed on LEGO Ideas, the site got flooded with Bionicle projects, but none of them went anywhere due to their very limited promotion. Sokoda's set, on the other hand, got promoted by pretty much everybody on various Social Media platforms, including YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit etc, and it managed to gather support so quickly because of that.- 991 replies

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Lego David replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
If you want a space project to reach 10k, just focus on the one which has the biggest chance of getting approved and promote it as much as you can. Bionicle (which is even less likely to have a future than Space) managed to get 10k supporters simply by being promoted a lot. I think the same thing can also happen with a Sci-Fi Space project.- 991 replies

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020

I converted the prices from that online store from Hungarian Forints into American Dollars, and it turns out that the prices are indeed really high, like it was rumored when the sets first got revealed...
