LEGO Hidden Side 2020
Lego David replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Just saw a picture of the actual Castle set on Discord (not sure exactly where that picture is from). And I have to say, it looks like a pretty good set to me. It's color scheme consists of Grey, Azure, and Dark Tan (for the observatory tower). It has a courtyard and a small balcony. The set looks a bit smaller than I expected, but I think it's safe to say that it didn't disappoint (at least in my opinion). -
There have been numerous instances of set waves that were pretty much ready for release, but got cancelled at the last moment. Examples of that would be the second wave of Alien Conquest and the final wave of Star Wars buildable figures. Those waves have made it very far into production, and even got leaked images of them, but for some reason or another, they never hit store shelves. So I was wandering, what happends with set waves that make it passed the production stage, but don't get released? Are they destroyed? Given to designers? Or what exactly? If money was already invested into those waves, but the final product never gets released, what happends with it?

How much is left until the next review season starts? They'd better start it as soon as possible, before it becomes too overwhelming. -

So, when exactly in May should the results for the 3rd 2019 Review Stage come out? -

From what I've heard TLM2 sets didn't sell very well though... -

Either they approve this one or the Breath of Wild stables. I don't see them making more than one set based off the same IP. But now that we know that LEGO holds the Nintendo license, at least one of those two projects being approved is highly possible. -
That is a definitely something that deserves some appreciation... This is pretty much the first Ninjago wave ever not be be mostly focused on vehicles.

Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
Lego David replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Well yes, but they expanded upon Spinjitzu and used it quite a lot (The Series is Called "Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu" after all), unlike the Airjitzu which was only made to advertise the gimmick sets and wasn't reused afterwards.- 4,591 replies

Minidolls... Action Themes Ideas

As much as I would like to see a Space Mini Doll theme, i'm not sure exactly how much that would appeal to the target demographic of young girls. -
Ninjago: Masters Of Spinjitsu TV Show Thread
Lego David replied to Lance's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
To be fair, I think the only reason Airjitzu existed in the first place was just to tie into the 2015 Arijitzu gimmick sets. Otherwise, it would have been used a lot more, or at least we would have gotten an explanation for why it can't be used anymore.- 4,591 replies

I would also like to imagine that Bionicle and Hero Factory are also part of the LEGO Univerese, but they are somewhere very far away in a distant Galaxy. Also, Monster Fighters and Hidden Side (which there is a theory that the Town of Newbery in Hidden Side was built on the same spot as the events of Monster Fighters, causing the ghosts to awake) should also be added in somewhere.(I'd say after the first LEGO Town was built). Also, we shouldn't forget about Power Miners and Atlantis. Both taking place on Earth, I would imagine they also happened before Rock Raiders (since Power Miners is set on earth, while Rock Raiders is set on a different planet).

Ninjago villains and future
Lego David replied to Harkonen's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Correction: It used to be a top selling theme. The LEGO Group financial results for 2019 didn't have any mention of Ninjago whatsoever. -

Either the Queen set from the 3rd 2019 Review Stage gets approved, either none of those gets approved. I can't see LEGO making more LEGO Ideas sets based off the same IP. Same here. There is already the Planet Express Delivery from the 3rd 2019 review stage, why is there any need for a 2nd set that's basically the exact same thing? When exactly will the results come out? May or June? -
I really hope they do something original instead of another IP crossover. I wasn't a fan of the LEGO Batman movie, and didn't like all the random IP's thrown into LEGO Movie 2... I really hope Universal's LCU won't be like that. Since this contract with Universal is supposed to last for 5 years, when should we expect for the next LEGO Movie to come out?

The past few Ninjago waves always introduced some sort of new large-scale part (such as the large Shirken piece from last year and the Trans-Neon large blades from Prime Empire) and this wave doesn't seem to introduce any new part like that, which is kinda disappointing for me, as builder of large scale figures.

LEGO Hidden Side 2020
Lego David replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
At first glance from the box art, the Castle looks pretty good, but I will reserve my final judgement for when we get actual pictures of the set. It's really weird how the first four sets got actual images yet this one only got an image of the confusing box art. Speaking of which, if it turns out that the theme sold poorly, I think part of the blame should without a doubt go the line's awful box art designs. -

I don't really see this wave being successful. Unless they already have a 4th wave planned, I guess that was it for Hidden Side. Those sets clearly had a much lower budget than the first two waves, which indicates that the line is due to wrap up soon. I really hope the Castle turns out to be the redeeming quality of this wave. -

J.B's submarine and the Prison sets are very disappointing... the builds look very lacking and there isn't anything interesting about them. Vaughn's Drag car and the Fire Truck look pretty cool though... I'm really curious to find out what that Slender Man-looking thing is. -
LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
Lego David replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
They have used the word "demon" in the past. An example that comes to mind is 9092 Crazy Demon from the Racers theme. -
The FireStone mech looks interesting, but it's definitely inferior to the Monkey King Mech. The Spinjitzu Bursts seem to have some interesting new pieces, but I can't tell exactly what they are from the low quality pictures. The Destiny Bounty honestly seems like a downgrade from the 2012 and 2015 versions.

Do we have confirmation yet whether this is indeed the next big bang theme? Or is it more of a casual theme, like Hidden Side? -
