  1. Wow I did not know those parts existed! Very cool! Also thanks for sharing your designs! Unfinished_Projects
  2. Hello, I have 4.5v train motor (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=bb07pb01&name=Electric, Motor 4.5V Type A 12 x 4 x 4 with 4.5V stamped on front&category=[Electric, Motor]#T=C) that needs wheels. I have access to a 3D printer and 3D modeling software/knowledge. My question is, does anyone have dimensions for "wheel2a" ?(https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=wheel2a&name=Train Wheel Spoked for Motor&category=[Wheel]#T=C) I would like to try to make something that goes into this motor and gives it a technic axle, or just recreate the wheel (either all plastic, or using purchased metal rod). 3. Very nice! I like the modular design and use of medium motors Unfinished_Projects
  4. Thanks for the link! Unfinished_Projects
  5. Thanks! It is! I haven't tried it yet though. Unfinished_Projects
  6. Hmm I will definitely look into that! Thanks for the ultimate cheap solution! Unfinished_Projects
  7. Hello, I just scored a decent amount of old 12v track with a motor, but no controller/transformer. My question is what are my options for powering the track? Can I use a newer model railroad controller or should I just find an original? I'm looking for a relatively cheap option as I don't intent on purchasing any more 12v motors. Thanks in advance, Unfinished_Projects
  8. That looks awesome! Any plans to build in real bricks? Unfinished_Projects
  9. Thanks for the input, that would definitely be more ideal! Like I said in the disclaimer, I simply used what I had to fix it up. Ideally I'd get out the soldering iron, used correct guage wire, and all that. But, this works for now. Thanks again for the input, I'm sure it will help someone looking to do a cleaner, longer lasting repair. Unfinished_Projects
  10. I have not, but that's a great idea! Thanks! That would probably work good Unfinished_Projects
  11. Yeah I was thinking of that. I plan on only having 2 of the 4 wheels metal, but that might lead to connection issues
  12. That looks great! Nice renderings, may I ask what you used? Unfinished_Projects
  13. Yes the dimensions are very close (slightly different flange size) Thanks! Unfinished_Projects
  14. Those look awesome! I like the brick built lettering! Unfinished_Projects
  15. Awesome thanks! I bought some from NWSL. Same as in this picture by Michael Gale: I created a free flickr account, it was pretty easy. Then I just copied the share link for each picture and it automatically embedded. You could use any picture hosting site I'm sure. Unfinished_Projects
  16. This is the way I fixed mine
  17. How to: Fix frayed wire on Lego 9v track connector Materials: Frayed wire New wire Heat shrink crimp connectors Heat shrink tubing Wire strippers Razor blade Lighter or heat gun Step 1: Cut wire between track connector and ferrite core (black cylinder), cutting as close to the ferrite core as possible. Step 2: Cut wire at similar length on the controller end. Step 3: Strip back rubber insulation from controller end, track connector, and new wire. Step 4: Crimp wires together, sliding the heat shrink crimps as close to the connector as possible. DO NOT FORGET TO SLIDE HEAT SHRINK TUBING ON, IF YOU ARE USING IT. (I forgot for one half) Step 5: Use lighter or heat gun to melt shrink tubing, again sliding the heat shrink as close to the connector as possible. Step 6: Repeat for wire between track connectors if needed Step 7: Test *Disclaimer* There may be a better way to do this. I simply used what I had to fix the problem. No guarantees that this will work for you. Thanks for reading and hope this helps someone, Unfinished_Projects
  18. Amazing build! Great photography (or renderings) as well! Supported on ideas Unfinished_Projects
  19. Whatever device affected it before, is not anymore Thanks again for sharing your hard work! Unfinished_Projects
  20. Thanks! I do not have instructions, but here is the ldraw file: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=03491049086515479738 *Please note that this file is not perfect, and I had to make a couple changes when I built it in real bricks* I plan on adding metal wheels to a power functions motor, but have thought of separate pickups. Do you have any pictures of yours?
  21. I created this boxcar to push my unpowered locomotives. It has all necessary Power Functions equipment with 2 train motors. It allows me to create locomotives without having to incorporate power. The IR receiver is mounted sideways because I run my trains on a wall mounted track about close to the ceiling (see picture). In the future I hope to add a rechargeable battery and power pickups (for a hybrid 9v/Power Functions system). Thanks for looking! 22. It pops up continuously starting right after the program is launched. Powered up hub can still be connected and controlled as normal it seems. Thanks again, Unfinished_Projects
  23. First of all, amazing work and thank you for sharing! I was trying it out last night with my powered up equipped horizon express, and it works great! I have one question, what does "Exception while connecting Object reference not set to an instant of an object." mean? It keeps popping up, but doesn't seem to affect anything. Thanks in advance, Unfinished_Projects
  24. If it is those couplers, I hope a ton are made! They look great! I would definitely buy enough for my whole fleet.
  25. Hello, I've been looking on the forums for a while but just recently joined! I'm an engineering student with a passion for Lego trains. I run my trains on an overhead wall mounted track that goes around the entire room. I'm currently in the process of organizing my Lego collection for more efficient building. I'm excited to contribute and follow the Lego train community! For enjoyment I've add a picture of the wall mounted track! -- Unfinished_Projects
