(GBW) Phase 2 - Information & General Discussion
marvelBoy123 replied to TheBeeze's topic in The Great Brick War
The very first post in this thread contains our starting point story wise, but as TheBeeze said, from there the story is developed through our builds. To echo what TheBeeze said, if you have any questions concerning the game, feel free to ask! -

Can we have uglies that feature a non starfighter. E.g. the uglies that use walker turrets as cockpits with tie wings? -
Operation Valiant Sweep- -1/16/20 - 3/9/20
marvelBoy123 replied to TheBeeze's topic in The Great Brick War
Should be posting my first side build in the next few days, looking back it has been almost a year since my first build and so I wanted to show what progress I have made in that time - especially in landscaping techniques - in the build! -

Yeah, it wasn't ideal but I didn't have much more dark brown or time so it was the best solution I had. I was worried that it if I didn't finish it, the shape might make it look like a weird rock formation. I think that I made the base a little too wide and then made the tree thinner much to quickly. Then again, I've never built a tree in this style before so for a first attempt I was pretty pleased - and it gives me still room to improve! Thanks for the feedback!

Hey @TheBeeze I take it that any side builds must be posted before the main campaign build. Can you clarify? -
Wow, great build and nice to see someone build something Die Hard related!

[Factions Ep. 4] [Incom - Z-95 Headhunter] L7 Korvai CorSec

I agree, the engines are insane and you have captured the shape of the ship really well. I imagine that it will be a tough job judging all the great Incom entries! -
[Factions Ep. 4][Incom - Ewing][L7 - Anobis - CS] Kale's Ewing

I agree, the colour scheme is very nice as is the greebling. The scene is good to. I think that proportions is the main issue but I think that is something that a lot of us have found with this challenge. -

Nice, I especially like the engines and there are lots of nice curved shapes. It is nice to see details on the wings and the surrounding scenery is nice too. I'm not such a fan of the wings from the back though, they seem to end a little abruptly and the whole rear of a brick showing doesn't look great. Nice build overall though! -
Nice, the overall build is really good especially compared to the set and it is nice to see how many inaccuracies you were able to fix. You have kept a nice round shape throughout apart from that back section which for me didn't really work. Overall however it is very nice and good to see so many features.
-
Nice TIE, reminds me a little of one made by rebel builder a few years ago. The back section especially is really good and I love the blue colour on the wings, it looks amazing! Not such a fan of how visible the technic pin is, but I guess that you are going for a lego set style. One thing that I am curious about is the use of brown bars at the back instead of grey, I guess that they could show age, but then again with how much modification Johnar has done, it seems unusual to leave some small rusty sections unpainted.

*Your entry has earned 11 XP and has won the Sienar Corporation* Farantros narrative: After picking up Umzle on Deysum, I got back to the star destroyer. My contact had another mission for me this time on Rishi. He would talk to Umzle while I helped out on the ground. An Imperial Triumvirate shuttle had been disappeared over Rishi's swamps and it was suspected that it was an attack from a rebel group operating on the planet so I was sent in with a small team. Teeko was already on the group to meet me and my contact gave me the services of a Crimson Guard TIE Advanced X1. As a starship enthusiast, I must admit that it was an impressive starfighter: graceful and well balanced. It had been upgraded from the original TIE Advanced models - better armour, wing mounted weaponry and an awesome colour scheme. It would fly low over our patrol, using special imaging equipment to scan the landscape for any sign of the shuttle or its wreckage. http://IMG_20200126_184137637_HDR-01 by marvelBoy123, on Flickr http://Tie Advanced x1 by marvelBoy123, on Flickr Never built a SNOT terraform baseplate or a SNOT tree so while being busy, I was an idiot enough to decide to build this alongside my other build and with a complicated TIE fighter so apologies if the storyline etc feels rushed As ever I appreciate your feedback!

Lovely details throughout, good choice of photo angles too, the proportions come through a lot better - especially in the first picture!

*Your entry has earned 13 XP* Farantros narrative: Deysum is not a pleasant place. The large corporations took its resources leaving a scarred and barren planet. From there it descended into chaos. They used to call them the colourful shanty towns, poor places but happy ones where the mining workers lived together as a community. Now they don't dare speak of them. 'round these parts even ordinary civilians need to carry a blaster and even then the average life expectancy isn't exactly high. First it was gangs that controlled these parts. Now it is just pure anarchy... http://Factions episode build by marvelBoy123, on Flickr http://Factions episode build by marvelBoy123, on Flickr http://Factions episode build by marvelBoy123, on Flickr I seem to be unlucky enough to end up in all the dumps of this galaxy. As a devaronian sure I want to travel, but first Nixor and now this... Anyway, when one of the Crimson Duchess's advisors found out about my deal with Teeko, he saw an opportunity. He sent me out to this place to find a contact to recruit. A small ground force landed first to subtly secure the area before I arrived. http://More photos for Factions Episode by marvelBoy123, on Flickr I finally found my man or should I say Ugnaught in one of the winding alleyways. His name was Umzle, a veteran of the galactic civil war, he was one of the empires top specialists. His patrol had been taken out on Tradosha and he was rumoured to have single-handedly eliminated in excess of 20 heavily armed rebel soldiers before being forced to flee. He had continued serving the empire but had fled to Deysum following the battle of Endor. The planet had a lot of Ugnaught workers living in little ugnaught-holes on the lower levels of the city but blending in wasn't a problem, the New Republic wouldn't dare come near Deysum and if they did they would find no allies there. My first build for the episode, hopefully i should be able to get the other one on in time! https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Auto-fighter A link to the TIE model is above https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Deysum_III You also might want to check this out as it was my inspiration for the build. As ever, I really appreciate feedback!

Nice drone builds!

I agree, it is absolutely brilliant with so many details. In the smaller 'in-scene' shots the floor works well but it doesn't quite fit in the larger picture with the roof removed. The only other thing I can think of constructively is the lack of doors. I know that it takes up a lot of space and going without is probably best at this scale, but an open plan engine room and workshop might get quite noisy Great job overall though!

The Brick of Nations ---- Retired from Old Game
marvelBoy123 replied to TheBeeze's topic in The Great Brick War
President Dmitrievich of Alsarh BoN Honourable members of the Brick of Nations, I will keep this brief. It is evident that we are not working effectively. Our progress in establishing rules for the conduct of war has been negligible and our joint missions a disgrace. We have become a laughing stock and action is needed. These operations come at a great cost to each of us and it is important that we all cooperate and help one another in these troubled times. I therefore ask for your help in proactively dealing with our numerous shortcomings. Until, such point as there are signs of reform and progress, Alsarh will not operate with BoN task forces. My nation will tackle these issues independently in the mean time. If I can't rely on you the I won't. I do not intend to offend or cause any disrespect to any nations, I simply believe that a change is long overdue!
