  1. Alright we are missing the big question here. Which is the superior animal figure with these two sets, the new one with the tan lion or the 6672 with the monkey? I own 6672 so a bit biased toward the monkey.....he seams to get into everything in our city. The new guy with the tree on his head is pretty funny.
  2. Not the best offerings this year. I might get the new street sweeper but not planning on anything else. Let hope we get a good mid year wave release!
  3. IMO dropping the City theme is not what AFOL really want. We would prefer a more adult/realistic theme of city type buildings, vehicles, etc. all at a similar scale as it own separate theme. Two city themes, one for the kids, the other for more mature builders. Now this is something feel a lot of Lego enthusiast would get behind. Again just my thoughts.
  4. That sounds like two great deals. When you add in shipping are you still ahead?
  5. Thank you, will try to take some of the bend out with hot water.
  6. For me its the 1 by 4 hinge plate. Allowed my classic space sets to have the back of my vehicle open. Still brings a smile to my face when I find them on sets today.
  7. My experience in the US with Amazon US is you can get a 20% discount off MSRP on most stuff. Creator...forget it. This line rarely/never goes on sale (except some black Friday specials)! Walmart US on most sets is close to Amazon prices. Target used to be at Walmart prices but lately has moved back up to MSRP. I have given up waiting for stuff to go on sale, too impatient. I purchase what I want and avoid impulse buys on sale items. Impulse buys has lead me to a bunch of bricks I really didn't need. As far as clone/fake Lego, purchasing at a store reduces the chances for swapped bricks. I have never had an issue with Amazon US but have viewed on youtube how easy it is to remove TLG boxing tape and reuse.....basically looking like an unbroken seal.
  8. How long do you soak the tracks in boiling water? 30 sec?
  9. I have no idea on the exact number, but suspect it is dropping due to recent sets low quality of stickers! Seriously my guess is around 40 million but this is just a guess. Feel a lot of people like Lego but they are not all active members of the community. .
  10. Picked up some bulk mini figs and in the bag was a Rancor hand. It looks cool, but what do you do with just one hand of a very big Star Wars monster? Looking for some ideas. Hand is in good shape, original less one white claw swapped out for a light green one. Basically have a huge brown clawed hand. Think it could working into a cool moc.
  11. I couldn't locate my tape measure, but if you push the one end down of the track down the other end is raised 1 tile in height. If this was on carpet may not be that bad, but as on a hard surface causing some issues with my trains.
  12. Just noticed a few piece of track I got in my latest purchase are warped (looks like a "u" running length ways), Was wonder why my train was bouncing a bit now I know why. I assume if I reach out the TLG they will replace. Is this a common problem? I hate to have them replace a few piece of track as assuming their costs will be high. Guess I am just trying to figure out if this is just something AFOL live with or something out of the norm and should get replaced. I am hesitant on reaching out for replacements as don't want to get on a "bad customer" list from TLG and when something is really wrong cannot get a replacement. Would appreciate your thoughts.
  13. Rather the making a new post, added a bit to this one. Curious how many coaches others are running. As this passenger set came with two coaches vs two engines in the last one (white one) easier to make a longer train. Getting a second set allows up to two engines and 4 coaches. This seams like a lot to me and not sure my little layout can handle a train this long. Have the following thoughts and questions (note I have not purchased a second set...just thinking about it at this time) 1) IMO this set does not display as nice as the last one (white one) with dual engines. If I would get a second set thinking I would modify this second engine into a 5th coach. 2) With a second set you get a second motor. Don't believe you can sink up multiple battery boxes of PF 2.0 to a single controller. This would force both motors to be installed in a manor to connect to a single battery box. Thinking this is a good thing as in my experience Lego trains prefer to be pulled then pushed. 3) Have seen a few mocs where the length of the coaches is extended. With two sets feel 4 longer coaches would be possible (plus a few extra bricks). For me the longer coaches don't run as well on my layout as have a lot of curves all the standard turning radius. Anyone else having this issue 4) Looking at the price, $160 US for a second train, motor, battery box, controller, and some track seams like a good deal Lego wise (Lego is expensive but appears you get a lot here). Does anyone else share this opinion?
  14. Question, how many engines are you running to pull all those coaches? I have a modified similar set, pulling 4 coaches...they are the smaller size that came with the set. Running a single PF motor under my tender. This motor will pull the load, but struggles with any fancy curves. I'm still using the connectors that come with the set...see you upgraded to the standard train couplers. This might help a bit too. As for your build, looks great. My moc was off the latest version and had the tan access on the coaches. I swapped this out to yellow as you have done. Your tender looks great with the 6 wheels and larger size. I ended up putting my battery in the first coach. I pulled all the Hogswort Express off, wanted a more general engine and passenger coaches. Can post some pictures if you are interested.
  15. Thumbs up!
  16. I think this is an interesting Idea. I own the GG and love it. It bright and fun. IMO I would moc your goblen theme into another building. Something more darker themed. Off the top of my head a Bank comes to mind! . As for you moc, it does look good. If it makes you happy go for it. Just wanted to offer another idea.
  17. Lot of options for lighting Modulars. RGB pixels are great, you need some computer control to individually control the pixels (i.e. light each pixel different color....you can vary they warmth of the light....also you could light any color you desire). The RGB lighting where the whole string is the same color works well too. Issue here is all the lights will be the same color....cannot vary the warmth of your white lights. Going with Christmas LED's is another great option. LED's tend to be more cold lighting...blue tint. Easiest option is to find some Christmas white light you like. If you can find a set of warm white and one of cold white bulbs then you could make your own string and be good to go. What really helps is if you can vary the warmth (color) of the bulbs per building. This helps set things apart and gives a great look.
  18. After a quick review of this years City wave, not a whole lot I am planning on purchasing The street sweeper and the monster truck most likely will pick up for the kids. Hoping we get some farm stuff later this year!
  19. The yellow bits are starting to grow on me! I tried swapping some bricks around but really didn't find anything I liked better. I plan on removing those two dark blue 1 by 1 circle tiles from the coaches thou. Just doesn't look right to me. Will swap out with normal tiles.
  20. I like you idea, modular Zoo. Great start with the bears. My Zoo has a water area the bears can cool off and catch fish. May want to add and have a bit of a water fall as your main area is elevated. Looking forward to seeing your other animal displays.

    [MOC] CIRCUS

    Nice moc. Looks good.
  22. Ok, I'm not the only one with problems. Hopefully only the two will break. Thank you all for your advise/guidance.
  23. Purchased two of the Hogworth train sets 75955 this summer. Just looked at my station and two of the 1 by 4 brown tiles split right down the center. Set has been assembled for around 6 months. Basically just sitting on my city layout undisturbed. Is this a common problem for TLG? Expect they will replace at no cost, but should I expect more to fail? Anyone else have problems with these tiles?
  24. Here is a picture of the color bleed thru I was discussing. Actually looks worse in person. See how the yellow is coming thru on the white of the sticker. The gray is almost as bad, if the dark blue stripe was not separating them not sure you could even tell the difference in color. IMO not very close to the colors of the bricks. Excepting better quality from TLG. In looking on the internet, see some sets that the stickers are much better at matching the colors....more specificity don't have the bleed thru of the yellow under neigh. That promoted my first question did TLG change the stickers for this sets since it first came out a few years back? Suspect if I reached out to TLG they would send me replacement stickers exactly like the ones I already have. This was not a cheap set, feel sticker quality should have been better.
  25. One of my favorite sets 3181 has the white roof suggested. Leaning more toward the dark blue tile roof accents over the light gray.
