When the inhavitants were assembling to riot against the Desert King, they seemed to have forgotten that their local governour had been acclamated by the High Council. Soon after hearing of his harsh handling with the people, the King removed the mean old governour and replaced him with one of his own most benevolent council men. The people did learn quickly that they now did have everything to be lucky.

"Will it work? I dare you if not!" Osric was impatient. Two months had been past since his first attack on Eastgate. He had learned that this city was not to sack by conventional siege engines. Shortly after his escape he had started to prepare another attack. He had spent nearly half of his loots, assembled the most expensive black smiths, carpenters, engineers, fire mages and alchemists.... yes, a lot of black alchemy was needed for this experiment. "Of course it will mylord! As you're probably aware, I am a respected apprentice of the most famous dr. Rod!" The alchemist seemed to wait for some serious words of appreciation. Osric was not much into giving commendation:"So said every ragged alchemist I found during the last month! How many apprentices could that man have teached? He seems to brew plenty of them in his catacombs. If I'll have to realize that I wasted my time and money on charlatanery I swear I put your head in this thing and throw it into the red water!" 'This thing' was the strangest siege engine ever to appear in this war. The blacksmiths had forged a giant barrel out of mystic (and therefore expensive) metals, the engineers had bound it on a carriage, the alchemist had filled it with terrible smelling powders and potions, and now, in front of Eastgate's tremendous towers, everyone waited for the fire mage to inflame it. The alchemist had insisted on it. Only magic fire would be strong enough to cause the right effect. But what effect would this be? All of Osric's men were focusing on the siege carriage, from the first line right behind it, to the reserve troops far away at the camp. The fire mage was wildly gesticulating and saying spells. When he raised his hand a stream of fire fell on the siege engine. And suddenly a thunder was hitting their ears. An explosion teared apart the air, and thick black smoke crawled out of the iron barrel. And the wall of Eastgate was breeched... Watch the weapon in action! Eastgate by Jacob Nion, auf Flickr

[Cat D; DK] Flag Parade at Sultan's Gate
Jacob Nion replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wow! That's four times the size of everything I could imagine for cat d! Amazing layout. I love all the colours, it really shows a tremendous Kaliphlin city how it should be. Again, I glad you're on our side.- 35 replies

Guilds of Historica New Member Guide

You mean in Germany where internet is Neuland? A dark welcome from Nocturnus to our new members! -
I hope so! I felt that this ship looked like generic sci fi, but not really like star wars. About the viallain's shuttle: Idon't dislike the design in general, but these wings are simply too oversized. I don't want to argue logically on the purpose of wings, because there would be no need of them, it's star wars and wings are just there to make things look awesome. But if they were only half the size they wouldd work fine without making the people think why a shuttle has to have such large wings that would only makecause problems landing in any hangar.

I guess it wasn't about not having transparent wimdscreens, but you just can't locate the cockpit and window on this new ship. And you can certainly create highly accurate models without 'illegal' techniques, limitation for designers is in most cases piece count and the need for playability. The last Sith Infiltrator for example had a very accurate shape and less bricks than this new one. And I doubt the final product will be much different from the preliminary pic. The only things that change from prelim to final are figures and small details, i.e. the prelim pic of shadow trooper battle pack was armoured with one of the new spring loaded shooters, the final one has flick fires. Shape stood the same.
-
But there's sure a lot of technique structure inside to carry these immense wings. I'd say it will be the MF. It's the ship that makes the connection to the OT and everyone loves it, also if it's from ep. VII. And it's already 4 years since the last falcon.

I could imagine they make two different minifigs of Kylo Ren. One with normal face and hair and one with his mask printed on the head plus standard jedi/sith hood. And of course this version would be in this 100 bucks set.
-
I found that shuttle boring when I saw the first drawings of it and the set isn't better. I'm pretty sure you could have done it with half the parts and spare the expensive price tag for something more interesting. I always found it odd when the majority of parts is spent on such extra ordinary large wings. They add nothing to the playability or functionality.

Carpets, carpets everywhere! Love it. Glad you were able to come up with this. The tower came out pretty well.

Thanks everyone so much. This was some kind of a rushed build, so I'm sorry for blurry pics. I have regards for your people! Explanation is simple, see.... Once the war is over, the Desert King has to restore peace and the people of Kaliphlin will be his subjects. But Ulandus is the arch enemy and therefore I have no mercy. But it's nothing personal!

[GA: K9, DK v U] From Slavers to Slaves
Jacob Nion replied to Blufiji's topic in Guilds of Historica
Beautiful jungle! And I get never enough of this road technique. Fits pretty well. Also I like the story; it seems that the Desert King restores justice in Kaliphlin. -
[CG:A9, DK vs U] Don't mess with the wrong tree
Jacob Nion replied to Jacob Nion's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks everyone very much for commenting! Of course! You feeded him well with your men I think I had something like scooby doo in mind making it. But I didn't thought of it much. The idea for that counter was just there. You're right, and I think that's a very interesting aspect of this war. The Desert King unleashes Nocturnian warfare in Kaliphlin and that influences the whole country. I would like to see this aspect as part of the overall story. Also I guess nobody would have thought at the edge of war that Nocturnus would play such a dominant role in this conflict. -
Micro scale is a genious idea for this wz! And I love how you followed the official map of Eastgate. Really great layout. And the flying carpet- brilliant! That's definitely fitting perfectly into our forces!

It seems I made the same mistake! I guess we are used to attack Ulandus and didn't thought about it twice About your build: you continue getting better and better! I really like the idea and execution of it, the pit is well done. Just an overall pic would have been nice, epecially to depict the size for those about to counter.

Nice base and blood effect. Glad you did this counter. I had no idea about it.

Raiding the Towers [WZ18 E2 Desert King]
Jacob Nion replied to Umbra-Manis's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice attempt at micro scale, U-M! And I must say, I find it great how you put effort into this challenge from the very beginning. There are only a fistful (or maybe two) of people who had that endurance. -
Nice trees and cage! I wonder if these elves will trigger it.

Nice clean build. I like how you adapted Garm's counter story for your own purpose. Very clever.

[G:B12, U vs. DK] Sneaking into the City... with a lot of Noise.
Jacob Nion replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
I'm glad blufiji took that task. I still got no idea how to counter this. But funny thing is that I received those pearl gold round tiles just the time around you posted this. They make a great and noble looking roof. I also like the whole texture of the gate. -
[G:F1, U vs HC] Sneakin' Around the Corner...
Jacob Nion replied to Garmadon's topic in Guilds of Historica
GA that's not against us? I'm offended. Did you lost interest in us? This challenge brought us a whole fleet of nice looking micro scale ships, and so are yours. Also great overall scene. I like the tower a lot. I don't know why but it reminds me on the western european watch tower in Age of Empires 2.- 18 replies

[G:A12, HC vs DK] Rising against opression
Jacob Nion replied to Bregir's topic in Guilds of Historica
There it is. The angry mob with pitch forks and torches. Good theme for a GA. The arches give the building a nice shape. I'm glad not the whole Council gave up during the first weeks. -
Haha that's or sure the most creative trap in this challenge. Had to laugh about these troll unicorn and mean looking pixie
