Correct - I have fixed it now. I'll be posting a review and lots of photos of the build sometime in the next few days. I'm not at home right now or I would take a quick photo of that part for you :) -
Rebrickable.com

I've added a feature that I think people here might find very useful. I've built a simple page that can compare two sets (or mocs) and list the parts they have in common and those that are different. It's something that gets brought up quite a lot when new sets are released that closely resemble older sets. Details of use: http://rebrickable.com/blog/2013/compare-lego-sets The example from the image on that page: http://rebrickable.com/compare?s1=8043-1&s2=42006-1 -
Technic spare parts renders/pictures
technicmad replied to rm8's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I asked one of the ldraw team directly for his interpretation and can confirm that rendered images are fine to use for any purposes: http://www.ldraw.org/article/227.html#Renders -

That would be me. I made the images from the LDraw models, L3P, POV-Ray and a lot of scripting. I am happy for anyone to use these images in whatever way they like, but please don't scrape the site as I am low on server resources at the moment :) (edit) I have just created a downloads page with links to zipped collections of all of these images. 8284 Tractor Set
technicmad replied to DarkShadow73's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Rebrickable can calculate it for you: http://rebrickable.com/build_set?s=8284-1&c=3&s1=8063-1 That uses 8063-1 to build 8284-1 ignoring colors, and shows that you will be missing 119 parts, most of which seem to be commonly found technic connector bits. -

Well I figured people don't delete sets too often so the effort of redesigning the interface wasn't worth it just yet :) -
I'll probably write some technical blog posts sometime to explain some of it, but need to keep a few secrets to myself :) The simple answer is that I've spent around 20 years in IT obsessing over performance tuning, with half of that being specific to databases. The downside of this is that the code can get quite complicated and hard to modify, as I've discovered in a big way this weekend with some additional features I'm working on!

I have indeed put a considerable amount of work into it, and it sounds like its worth it when I hear feedback like this :) I have some writeups in the blog on the site, but it doesn't get very technical if that is what you were after. Happy to answer any specific questions though.

First let me wish you good luck with your site. Now, I have looked into creating a marketplace like this on Rebrickable and in fact built a lot of it but decided not to release anything at this stage. Mainly because I'd prefer to keep most of the stuff on my site free and was concerned that it would get flooded with paid MOCs and diminish the sites value. I do have some MOCs on there that are paid, but I provide links to the authors own site or host the files for them. I think most of them don't actually have a site and just give instructions via email for paying and receiving the files manually. Bricklink is another alternative that is being used, but again is not an automatic pay/download system. There are many non-LEGO specific ones out there, so you would have to add features that are LEGO specific to distinguish yourself. The other problem is that most instructions are sold very cheaply, so taking a commission of that can be difficult and using paypal etc to make the payments take big fat fees out of everything. Don't want to sound pessimistic, it's just that I've already given this a lot of thought :) I look forward to seeing what you do with the idea. -

I was referring to the video that shows how you made the making-of video... that'll teach me for trying to be clever. -
