  1. I have thought about this briefly before but didn't like the complexity it introduced. eg if the MOC requires 2x red, 3x blue, 5x green bricks and you have 3x red and 1x yellow, it will say you are missing 6x unknown color bricks. To then switch back to using colors, which colors in this example should it say are missing?
  2. Any chance of making a digital model or photo instructions when you're done? This is incredible!
  3. Correct. I have a large backlog of MOCs I want to add but have not had the time. I added the self submit feature to try and improve the process which is helping a lot so far I have also decided to accept any LDD/MPD files without separate building instructions, as not too many designers take the time to create instructions.
  4. Good idea :) Thanks DLuders for pointing it out, the v2 Minimog is at: http://rebrickable.com/catalog/zblj/minimog
  5. Please please please tell me it transforms :)
  6. Thanks David. FYI I have plans for completely rewriting all those stats to be much prettier and more interactive. Stay tuned
  7. I have added the Viggen to Rebrickable: http://rebrickable.com/catalog/grohl/saab-ja-37-viggen I knew this was a big plane, but holy cow there are a lot of pieces Great work Grohl!
  8. Of course I would be interested. I need more non-supercar MOCs on Rebrickable :)
  9. Done: http://rebrickable.com/catalog/nico71/morgan-three-wheeler
  10. You sound like my manager ;)
  11. My biggest challenge here is getting the time to do it :) I am trying to build it into a tool that can also help designers pick standard parts for their digital designs. Out of interest, how do you currently manage your list? Never say never! I have been thinking about the same thing and I believe some progress will be made very soon ;) An interesting idea, I'll add it to my list. Not sure if that's exactly how I'd do it but I'm up for anything that makes it easier to use the site. Another neat idea, I definitely want to get some pricing info in there but haven't looked into it yet. I'm a bit of a control freak and perfectionist so open-sourcing it doesn't appeal to me right now :) It is PHP, never touched Ruby before. The PostgreSQL move was a no-brainer... given that I'm a DBA by day with around 300 PG databases to look after!
  12. Blog comment updated :) I haven't made it more obvious just yet because there's more to be done to improve it first.
  13. Thanks. You can already add custom parts in the My Parts page, currently accessible from your account drop down at the top right. It's not quite finished yet but it's enough to get you started. I also have plans which will allow the flexibility you are suggesting with the unused parts, but that probably won't be ready for a while :)
  14. Hi, it's my site. Happy to hear any questions/suggestions you have
  15. I have added Jurgen's new supercar to the Rebrickable database: http://rebrickable.com/catalog/jurgen/sunbeam-corvette
  16. FYI I checked the download link on a few browsers and only IE works: - Chrome 14 - Firefox 5 - Firefox 7 - Safari 5 - IE 8
  17. I did the same thing with my 4yo boy. The first one was the 8258 crane where he loved sorting out the parts for me, and helped out with the construction where he could. Some of the connections and pins were hard for him to put together. With the 8043 I put most of it together myself in two sittings which is too much for him. Any more than an hour on a single topic is too boring for a 4yo's mind :) He loved playing with the excavator far more than the crane though, due to the remote controls I guess. Of course the only thing he tried to do with it is run over his little sister :D
  18. I'll add my 2c :) I was already married when I started coming out of my dark ages and I think she thought it slightly amusing at first. Now, she buys more sets than I do (for the kids supposedly) and loves to build all the little winter village scenes for Christmas etc.
  19. FYI since I'm not a fan of megablows, I am also hosting these instructions (with permission) on my site at http://rebrickable.com/files/instructions/nathanael_therion_supercar.zip This supercar is also indexed at http://rebrickable.com/catalog/nathanael/supercar
  20. This is the one: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=40561&st=15 Therion created the full instructions in PDF and uploaded to Megaupload (the rapidshare link is broken).
  21. I believe that is here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=79271 but the instructions are for the chassis only from what I can see. Still, it should be pretty easy to build the rest from the photos.
  22. Hi all, I have added this awesome MOC of the new batmobile by Brent Waller to the database at Rebrickable. I don't know how many of you are familiar with it, but basically this site allows you to build sets+mocs by reusing parts from your existing sets. All MOCs have full building instructions.
  23. Sorry if this is slightly off topic but I didn't think it warranted a new post. I have added another of Nathanael's supercars to the rebrickable database - his 8458 alternate build: http://rebrickable.com/catalog/nathanael/silver-sportscar
  24. Sorry I missed this original question - its exactly what my site rebrickable.com does. I am adding more sets and mocs all the time, so if you try re-importing your brickset file after each update you should be able to get more sets.
  25. Hi, thought I'd let you guys know that I have added all of the Castle themed LEGO sets to my site at Rebrickable. If you don't know what that is, there is previous discussion for it here. Basically - it allows you to find sets and mocs that you can build (all with instructions) by reusing your existing parts.
