Ha, I thought I had prevented adding MOCs to your set list :) I guess it makes sense to have them there, must check the code to make sure it's being handled properly. As for the Brickset import - I could do something like only add new sets and report on Rebrickable sets that you have but weren't included in the import. -
Rebrickable.com

This should be fixed now. It was exporting the file using Bricklink color descriptions instead of Peeron. Now it exports in the correct format and the import will check for a match against both Bricklink and Peeron color descriptions. -

I'm not entirely happy with the new page either, but needed to do something. I will think some more about it, thanks for your input. The "MOC of the day" is sort of random, but tries to pick ones that are not "hot". The idea being to give everyone a decent chance at getting page views - which it seems is working. On your analytics page, the build attempts are incremented whenever someone tried to build your set which can happen after searching for sets to build and not just via the set inventory page. I have now fixed the dates too, thanks for pointing that out! -

I had to change it as the list was too long. What about the old format did you like? Perhaps that you could see all MOCs for a particular designer? -

No, but I will add that to my list. -

I do plan on providing a more flexible filter/sorting form for these results. The other extreme of ordering by missing parts would show 2-part sets where you have 1 and are missing 1 :) -

Thanks :) I've got a huuuuge list of things I want to add/improve on the site, but am always open to suggestions if anyone has anything. -
Where's the BLUE?
technicmad replied to gmshades's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
(EDIT: oops was originally backwards) Querying the data is easy so here's the top 10 results from all Technic sets 1992 or later and excluding axles and pins: Color Total Parts Black 21908 Light Gray 13109 Light Bluish Gray 7621 Yellow 6283 Red 5330 Dark Bluish Gray 2615 White 2056 Blue 2008 Dark Gray 601 Dark Turquoise 521 I'd love to allow ad-hoc queries like this on Rebrickable, so your simple question can be answered just as simply :) If anyone is interested in helping me out let me know! -
Where's the BLUE?
technicmad replied to gmshades's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Actually, I just took a look and was going to make a graph with the pins excluded but the ratios didn't change very much. Overall black, blue and grays shrank in overall usage but there are still hundreds of blue parts such as: These poor guys get forgotten -

I'll see what I can do :) I can already do that, I just need to identify the parts and those two have not been done yet. What happens is I can map one part to another so that any occurances of eg 99773 will be completely replaced with 2905. I only do this where there is no functional difference such as slight mold changes to improve the strength as in your examples. -

Yeah it really sucks hearing that Nope, but it's a good idea and is now on my todo list :) When you try to build a set it will show you the best 5 sets that contain the parts you are missing. For example http://rebrickable.com/build_set?s=8110-1&s1=8043&s2=8258&s3=8070&c=2 this shows that the 8285 Tow Truck has 166 of the parts you are missing etc. Is this what you mean, or something a bit more flexible with more search criteria/filters? -

Lego 8053 tyres

That's a neat feature. While it would be nice to add to Rebrickable, I'm not sure what extra I can add that Bricklink hasn't already done... probably better useability. I don't want to look like a copy-cat :) -

Pity Brickshelf is down, as Tim has some nice Trains on there :) On a related note, with Brickshelf going down fairly regularly I have a question for you guys. I am currently working on a feature that allows you to upload your own CAD files for analysis (eg find the right part ids or colors etc), but it occurred to me that I could expand it to be a more generic hosting service similar to Brickshelf. The idea would be you can store your MOC files linked to your Rebrickable profile, and make each of them either private or public. The MOCs that have parts lists can be integrated with the rest of the site (build, search, etc), but for the rest you can just put up the files for others to access. I guess it would be a blend of flickr/mocpages/brickshelf but want to make better use of the lego data I have available. I am quite familiar with the technical requirements such a hosting feature would have, but it's not quite where I was heading with Rebrickable. What do you guys think? -
Does anyone think there's a need for a new lego specific image hosting site? Brickshelf does not seem to have done much for a long time and could probably do with some new features.

I have updated the parts lists on Rebrickable. -
You can now import a Bricklink XML export of your parts orders into your Rebrickable My Parts list. If you have any troubles with it please let me know!
