  1. If you do I'd be happy to put it on Rebrickable :)
  2. I am working on an interface to Bricklinks wanted list to help with procuring the missing parts, I can also add a generic CSV export option. Thanks. The official set data comes from Bricklink (with permission) and I then modify it to suit my purposes better. Not sure what you mean by bricksettish? I'm focusing more on the data analysis side of things rather than set news/reviews.
  3. You will be able to add spare parts eventually :) I am trying to handle the counterparts by making every set consistent, so you have found an example where I've missed one... thanks! I'll fix that to have everything use the combined part.
  4. Thanks :) For now, I add all MOCs myself after asking the designer. As you've probably noticed, I have mainly technic MOCs so far but am now adding Star Wars and a few other generic ones. I have a looong list of designers/MOCs to get through but am determined to add as many as I can find! I'm not familiar with those two names, but will check them out thanks. I guess I should ask any designers with building instructions (pdf or photo sequences are fine) that want their MOCs featured on my site to let me know :)
  5. Thanks :) That's right, I have about 1500 sets in there now covering 8 themes, so plenty of work left to do!
  6. Ahh that will make things easier, thanks :D
  7. FYI I have added the Mindstorms sets to the database :)
  8. Thought I'd start a thread for my new site Rebrickable. It has been discussed in the Technic sub-forum lately but I realise it probably hasn't reached anyone else. The site has a growing database of official sets and MOCs (all of which have building instructions), and it will tell you which sets you can build using your existing sets, or what parts you are missing if you dont have them all. So far I have 23 MOCs in Technic and Star Wars theme and have a long list of others still to be added. You can see a summary of the MOCs here. Check it out, I'm keen to hear about any problems or suggestions for improvement
  9. If you can send me an iPad, no problem :) I'll try to figure it out... do any other links not work? I want to make it iPhone/iPad friendly, but am not there yet.
  10. Personally, I think TLG have gone too far with this. My 4 year old son routinely skips steps (by accident) and can still build 7-12yo sets just fine, mostly by himself. I even came home one day to find he had done the first 12 steps of my 8258 all by himself
  11. I will definitely be doing this :)
  12. With Nathanael's permission, I have added his concept car to my site: http://rebrickable.com/catalog/nathanael/concept-car You can now more easily find out which parts you are missing if you are thinking of building this masterpiece
  13. Does anyone actually find the rare label useful? If not I can just remove it completely and avoid the confusion :)
  14. Maybe I should check the referring site - if coming from eurobricks, assume user has everything. if coming from google, assume novice user :) And FYI I have considerably improved performance of the site now Details at http://rebrickable.com/blog/2011/08/performance-improvements/
  15. Very nice instructions, do you have instructions for other MOCs too? :)
  16. OK I'll admit I don't understand what this is for It looks like when a wheel starts to slip, you disable the differential so it forces both wheel to turn together. But if that's the case, why use the diff in the first place?
  17. It's because the colours don't match well enough. The gear in Nico's MOC is gray - but I'm guessing it should have been white as I've only seen these gears in white. The 47224c01 and c02 are the exact same part, but the c02 is modeled with the piston extended instead of closed. Thanks for pointing these out, I will add some rules to help fix all occurances of this.
  18. I have also now added the Monster Truck part of the Heavy Transport MOC :)
  19. You've convinced me its something useful to add. There are complexities eg a part may come from many different source sets, but I'll take a look at it. First I will concentrate on getting more sets/themes in there, and adding the backlog of MOCs I have :) And FYI I have just added Nico71's Forklift Truck and fixed a couple of bugs
  20. Hmmm tricky. I'll have to think about it :)
  21. This is actually a design oversight! I didn't consider people might have two or more of the same set... that would be crazy I will definitely fix this problem.
  22. You can't. Are you saying you want to be able to see eg these 500 parts come from set A and these 400 parts come from set B? Is that useful information?
  23. Thanks Jurgen :) Of course it wouldn't be possible without people like you who spend the time to create instructions for the rest of us mere mortals ;) Thanks for the ideas. It would be up to the designers to charge for their instructions. Some do, some don't. If they want help to promote their MOCs perhaps I can help, I'm undecided at the moment if I want to go anywhere near this kind of idea. Most of the set inventories submitted on Bricklink were done by sellers, so they are already helping me by making that data publicly available to the community. I am linking back to them from my catalog pages for free. I have no interest in trying to monetize their data, there's a whole lot of ethical issues at play here I want no part of :) For now I'm happy just to build a site everyone can use and enjoy. I'd love to get a definitive database of MOCs with parts lists and instructions :D And if I can get to the stage where designers can self-submit their MOCs all the better! I'll get there eventually :)
